However, the fault experiments are dangerous, thus this paper presents a Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) simulation system based on RT-LAB and DSP, which was applied to research the transient behavior of a doubly salient electro-magnetic wind power generator (DEWG) system and the control performance of the controller during unbalanced fault conditions. Meanwhile, the variation characteristics of three-phase voltage, three-phase current, excitation current and output power in the case of single line-to-ground fault and line-to-line fault while the system is in the process of maximum power point tracking (MPPT) are investigated.","PeriodicalId":171339,"journal":{"name":"2010 World Non-Grid-Connected Wind Power and Energy Conference","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129331045","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Wind power is one of the fastest growing renewable sources of energy generation in the U.S. and many other countries. Wind energy is a desirable resource because it's cheap and clean. However, it's intermittent, and the profile of energy generation does not correlate with the demand cycle. Basically, wind energy is available when the wind blows, and the power level depends on wind speed. Therefore, they are not dispatchable in the traditional sense. As installed wind capacity grows in a region, the intermittency of wind energy becomes a significant issue. One possibility to achieve higher system flexibility and security is energy storage investment. In this paper, Compressed Air Energy Storage (CAES) is considered to store electricity. This study presents a formulation of Security-Constrained Unit Commitment (SCUC) with integration of a compressed air energy storage (CAES) and wind generation. A case study is presented to validate the proposed model.","PeriodicalId":171339,"journal":{"name":"2010 World Non-Grid-Connected Wind Power and Energy Conference","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128953839","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The key of the proposed generator is to reduce the voltage and torque ripples. Finite element analysis (FEA) of the generator is carried out to investigate the magnetic field distribution at different rotor positions. Furthermore, flux-linkage and inductance characteristics are also given. The simulation of the generator with three-phase half-wave common anode rectifier circuit is well performed. The results from the finite element analysis verify the theory analysis and the rationality of the generator. It shows that the structure of the dual-stator can decrease the voltage ripple effectively, especially under heavy load conditions.","PeriodicalId":171339,"journal":{"name":"2010 World Non-Grid-Connected Wind Power and Energy Conference","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125307225","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The vibration characteristics of blades with special airfoil can influence the vibration characteristics of the rotor system. This paper analyzed the vibration characteristics of a wind turbine rotor including blades with two-dimensional airfoil. The Finite Element Method (FEM) is applied to establish the rotor model, with the purpose that the FEM can adjust complex blades airfoils and acquire the details of the blades vibration characteristics. The modal characteristics are extracted based on the wind turbine model established in the laboratory. Using harmonic analysis of FEM, the excitation forces on the blades caused by the stochastic wind load are imposed on the rotor model and the stable response of the rotor system is calculated using ANSYS. Then the vibration characteristics are analyzed and the characteristics of the harmonic response are studied under different phases of the circumferential and axial forces.","PeriodicalId":171339,"journal":{"name":"2010 World Non-Grid-Connected Wind Power and Energy Conference","volume":"87 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128274940","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By using a cyclic voltammetry technique, the electrochemical behavior on a tungsten wire was researched in 46.2wt.%LiF-49.8wt.%NaF-4wt.%Na2CO3 molten salt at 700 ºC, with two platinum wires used as a counter electrode and a reference electrode, respectively. The results show that carbon is reduced at the potential of −1.77V (vs. Pt, at a scan rate of 0.4V/s). The electro-deposition experiment of carbon was conducted in the same molten salt system in a see-through cell with a platinum wire and a nickel rod used as the anode and cathode, respectively. The cathode current density is 0.215A/cm2. During the electro-deposition course, evolving of a gas bubble from the anode was found.
