This topic has actually penetrated into medical system as a continuous objective for Ministry of Health in our country. In patient rights charter of Ministry of Health, right of patient to know is mentioned which is adopted from this right. Health authorities believe that patients must know about all diagnostic and treatment methods, power and weak points of each method and potential complications, disease diagnosis, prognosis and its consequences as well as all information affecting decision making. Finally with complete information they communicate their consent to medical system and physicians for treatment. Based on research findings, right of patient to know has been considered in the framework of patient rights charter in Health System Development Plan and it has been attempted to consider patient rights charter more than ever.","PeriodicalId":17001,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Research in Medical and Dental Science","volume":"4 1","pages":"178-182"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69149410","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Aims & Objectives: Aim of this study was to assess the effects of Low level laser on the velocity of mandibular first molar protraction in orthodontic patients. Materials and Methods: Total 28 young adult patients (14 females and 14 males; age range 16-25) requiring extraction of mandibular second premolars were selected and molar protraction was carried out with T-loop on a rectangular Stainless Steel wire. In each patient one side was selected by random to irradiate with low level laser and other side with placebo. Laser regimen was applied at 0, 1 and 2 days and at the end of first, second and third months. Tooth movement was measured on prepared models at the end of first, second and third month. Results: We found 1.3 fold increases in rate of tooth movement in the irradiated group (p=0.000) than non-irradiated group. Conclusion: Based on our findings, Low level laser accelerates tooth movement and consequently reduces treatment time. Student exams may be used both for student assessment and program evaluation. Given the significance of general medicine exams, the present study systematically reviews studies conducted on these exams in Iran in 2016.Methods : Available documents weresystematically reviewed and their information was collected. Using documents available in scientific databases suchas IranMedex, SID, Magiran, Medlib, PubMed, Google Scholar, ERIC by appropriate keywords (doctor, generalpractitioner, student, graduate, trainee, intern, exam, general sciences, pre-internship, skill and medical), 59 studies conducted on general medicine exams until March 2015 were extracted; of these studies, 10 studies which wereavailable in full text and met the least research quality were selected for the review. Results: Out of 10 studiesreviewed, 7 studies evaluated the effective factors on results of general medicine exams and 3 studies analyzed theresults of these exams. Meanwhile, results of those 7 studies showed that low GPA, delay in passing the basicsciences and age at the time of admission to the university are effective factors on results of exams. Results of threestudies analyzing exams showed that genetics and radiology gained the highest and parasitology, orthopedics andphysiology gained the lowest average percentage of scaled relative ratings. In analysis of 40 exams during a 20-yearperiod, 65.8% students were passed the exams in the first trial. However, 99.6% of participants continued their education after few trials. Conclusion: The factors such as length of stay in medical school and grand point averageof students are predicating comprehensive exam results in all the reviewed studies. Therefore, these factors can beconsidered as effective factors on results of general medicine exams. Also the results may support the importance ofnational comprehensive exams as a reliable tool in fostering quality in education. Blood pressure (BP) measurements in the community are generally performed with a mercurysphygmomanometer. However, it is the common teaching that average of at least three readings of bloodpressure measurement is considered to be the gold-standard method. How far this is true has been determinedin this study with the Aim: To find out the prevalence of hypertension and compare the one reading of bloodpressure taken by mercury sphygmomanometer with average of three such readings. Materials andMethods:This cross-sectional study was conducted from January-March 2015 among 160 adults of Chetla slum, Kolkatachosen through a two stage sample design. ubjects included -Male: 39.4%; Female: 60.6%. Data was collectedby interview and blood pressure measurements. Comparison was made between the first reading and theaverage of three readings of BP taken by mercury sphygmomanometer. Result: The overall prevalence ofhypertension was found to be 30 % (48). Strength of agreement between first reading of Blood Pressure with thatof average reading was excellent, with kappa=0.940. Conclusion: Though the average of three blood pressurereadings according to Standard operation Procedure is considered ideal for accurate Blood Pressuremeasurement it may not always be feasible to undertake such a practice especially at community level. Thus, by definition, the host response involves not only the mechanisms of defence but also processes of repair of damage that occurs by the direct effect of invaders or trauma or host systems. Periodontal diseases are inflammatory processes in which microbial etiologic factors induce a series of host responses that mediate an inflammatory cascade of events in an attempt to protect and heal the periodontal tissues. The adjunctive use of host modulation therapy can enhance therapeutic responses, slow the progression of the disease, and allow for more predictable management of patients, particularly in those patients at increased risk caused by factors beyond the reach of conventional therapeutic approaches.
