This technique can be used with a low-cost scalar spectrum analyzer with no storage system. Data acquisition is carried out using a video camera to capture the readings on the spectrum analyzer's display. A software package is developed to automatically convert the captured images into the amplitude data of the measured signal. This technique has been found useful when sophisticated radiation pattern measurement facility for high-gain antennas is not available.","PeriodicalId":169550,"journal":{"name":"2014 8th International Conference on Telecommunication Systems Services and Applications (TSSA)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130409195","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents an investigation of the mobility impact on performance of a WiMAX 802.16e downlink system deployed via Stratospheric platform for a ground user. It shows how user velocity and physical layer (PHY) setting can contribute to the performance. Simulation result shows performance degradation increases with mobile velocity increase as a result of increase distortion in the channel due to Doppler frequency spread. However after speed of 30 km/hr the system will keep same performance. Finally we found that WiMAX services, which require high level requirement, have an acceptable performance over SPF channel if the user exists at the centre of coverage whatever user's velocity is.","PeriodicalId":169550,"journal":{"name":"2014 8th International Conference on Telecommunication Systems Services and Applications (TSSA)","volume":"79 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127143611","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The system saves energy and lowering the maintenance cost by undertaking necessary actions according to classroom situations. When classrooms empty, system can be used to turn off related equipment remotely and wirelessly via XBee-based wireless network. The system can be used to control LCD projectors and lights in classroom. The system thus prolong classroom equipment lifetime and decreases the energy bills. Globally speaking, lower power consumption will also reduce global warming effect.","PeriodicalId":169550,"journal":{"name":"2014 8th International Conference on Telecommunication Systems Services and Applications (TSSA)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126708200","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the application of video streaming services using MPEG Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (MPEG-DASH), the video quality level representations contained in the Media Presentation Description (MPD) composed by several video segments. The problems that arise when setting the length of the video segment is the influence of the received video quality at the client at the time of the video segments are transmitted using MPEG-DASH. This study uses H.265 video to MPEG-DASH delivered using blended with the background traffic from the FTP server on the LAN network. The results of this research indicate H.265 video can be used for adaptive delivery using MPEG-DASH. The length of the smaller video segments that will generate greater PSNR value. Parameter values generated buffering time is almost close to the value of long video segments that are used so that it would be better to use the smaller video segments. But the video segments greater positive impact on processor usage because it produces the smaller value.","PeriodicalId":169550,"journal":{"name":"2014 8th International Conference on Telecommunication Systems Services and Applications (TSSA)","volume":"114 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117212860","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
