The objective is to spot abnormalities in breasts with a high level of precision, allowing for diagnostics in the early stages of potential breast cancer. The system was theoretically modeled and simulated with the help of computational calculations. This solution gathers characteristics from different technologies and standards that were combined to model an efficient system which meets the necessary requirements and functions for a feasible and viable proposal for its future implementation. The main contribution of this work is identified in the experimental results through the application of the finite difference method in the time domain (FDTD) where it is shown how a malignant tissue (tumor) reflects to a greater extent the expenditure that falls on said region in compared to healthy tissue made up of fibrous tissue, connective, glandular and adipose tissue. It is also important to highlight the spectral and energy efficiency of OFDM systems, characteristics that directly affect the quality level of the systems. Finally, a simulation of the image formation is performed using an innovative method of spatial filtering under the concept of beamforming.","PeriodicalId":167574,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE Colombian Conference on Communications and Computing (COLCOM)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127315387","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In specific, the data obtained with Matrix-Assisted Laser DesorptioMonization-Time of Flight (MALDI-TOF) technique are explored for balanced and unbalanced dataset scenarios, and compared with benchmarking machine learning algorithms (Naive Bayes, Support Vector Machine, Random Forest, and Logistic Regression). Finally, the evaluation of the performance of the proposed weighted ELM was realized in order to determine the most efficient technique in terms of predicting diseases. In the training phase, the weighted ELM reaches the 100% of accuracy, sensitivity and specificity, which are 25% and 30% higher than the rest of benchmarking machine learning algorithms. Meanwhile, in the testing phase results, the ELM observations highlight the scarce bias to predict positive and negative classes in unbalanced datasets.","PeriodicalId":167574,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE Colombian Conference on Communications and Computing (COLCOM)","volume":"161 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133530872","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

And also in some cases, they could visit many places, but they don’t have enough time. Then in this new society, a reinvention of the tourist experience is needed. For this, it is necessary to develop services that provide the opportunity to find an optimal automatic route that will permit maximizing and reinventing the tourist experience. For that reason, we have proposed a tourism recommendation system based on the ratings of places visited by other users, and the economic availability of the users is evaluated using fuzzy logic. If the quality of the service improves, the clients will feel satisfied with the tourism service. Finally, this research has presented successful results such as the generation of a route showing the order of places to visit optimizing the time and price. Also, a lot of users and tourism sales advisors can execute the system because it is easy to use, which is verified in the experiments.","PeriodicalId":167574,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE Colombian Conference on Communications and Computing (COLCOM)","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114143786","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For its implementation, deep learning and computer vision techniques have been used for face detection and recognition. The system consists of four phases, the first one aimed at detecting and aligning the face with deep learning algorithms. The second phase obtains the facial features to recognize different people. The third phase consists of implementing a module that detects face impersonation, and significantly prevents possible attacks on the system by identifying whether the face is real or fake; and the last phase is the design and development of the web interface. This interface performs the communication of the algorithms, the users and the administration. In order to evaluate this proposal, several experiments have been carried out under diverse real conditions. The main results to correctly identify the user show that it has an accuracy of 99 %, in an estimated time of 3 seconds, in the range of 20 cm to 90 cm away, with respect to the camera. In addition, the system is capable of identifying users wearing masks or glasses, in this case with an accuracy of 95% in 4 seconds.","PeriodicalId":167574,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE Colombian Conference on Communications and Computing (COLCOM)","volume":"157 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123514285","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The considered hardware architecture requires switches and inverters instead of phase shifters, which significantly reduces the freedom degrees for the analog signal processing in the compensation for reducing the manufacturing cost and power consumption. Since the hardware architecture is based on switches, the proposed analog beamformer performs an effective and low computational complexity switching algorithm, which aims to maximize the system's sum rate. On the other hand, the proposed baseband beamformer performs a twofold procedure that eliminates the inter-user interference and increases the signal-to-noise ratio, further increasing the systems' sum rate. Simulation results show that although the freedom degrees to generate the analog beamformer are low, the proposed method overcomes hybrid precoders with phase shifters of up to 3 bits resolution in terms of BER, sum-rate, and energy efficiency.","PeriodicalId":167574,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE Colombian Conference on Communications and Computing (COLCOM)","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123312246","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the stages in the identification of fingerprints is classification, this has the objective of reducing the search times and the computational cost in the databases. Currently, there are several academic publications with methods based on convolutional neural networks (CNN) by using fingerprint images as inputs, which have excellent performance in terms of classification; however, these studies have a very high computational cost, and they require high-performance computing, which is not accessible to everyone. This work will be carefully reviewed proposals for fingerprint identifiers and classifiers by employing extreme learning machines (ELM). The methods proposed by the authors will be analyzed, and these will be compared in terms of the overall performance with the different classifiers considered by the authors in their respective works. In this sense, research works with different types of ELM are considered to see the advantages and disadvantages that they present with each other and to verify how they can contribute to reducing the penetration rate of fingerprint databases. The latter is very important since improving the penetration rate implies reducing search times and computational complexity in fingerprint databases.","PeriodicalId":167574,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE Colombian Conference on Communications and Computing (COLCOM)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134107477","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Currently, a great variety of companies commercialize these products, but at high cost. Seeking higher flexibility and lower economic and computational cost, many researchers propose the inclusion of Software Defined Radio (SDR) in schemes and developments on these devices. The inclusion of SDR has resulted in more compact systems, with lower energy consumption, and more flexibility configuration for each work mode, among other advantages. In this paper we implement the Gurgel methodology to obtain the Doppler Spectrum. We perform a comparison between our own implementation (LaQuinta) and Wera (WERADesk) to identify the applicability and limitations of LaQuinta. We also used LaQuinta to learn a set of LimeSDR-USB skills. We conclude that we need to know the calibration functions in LaQuinta and develop a Front-end RF before the A/D process to improve the measures when using low-cost SDR and own implementation.","PeriodicalId":167574,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE Colombian Conference on Communications and Computing (COLCOM)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127403065","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
