The researchers want to study and compare the description of TAM in Teaching English in senior high schools in Padang City, West Sumatra, with theories from modern syntactic books. The steps in conducting this research are collecting data, analyzing data, and presenting the results of the analysis. The researchers conducted observations and interviews with five teachers as the informants from 5 different high schools in Padang City. We also interviewed 50 new entrance of 2019 year students at Universitas Andalas from various faculties/departments such as Medicine, Chemistry, Information Technology, Accounting, Management, and Animal Science, who came from Senior High School in Padang. The researcher then studied all the data and analyzed them using the theory proposed by some experts. The results showed that English Grammar was not discussed in depth. In general, the teachers assumed that there were 16 tenses in English; thus, first-year students also understood that there were 16 tenses. The study of tenses was usually embedded when studying the text. The teachers also did not understand the term and concept of aspects in the form of internal time tempo (progressive and perfect), so that the new entrance students in some faculty of Universitas Andalas were not familiar with the term aspects. In general, these tenses were taught with the mood constructions: Positive +, Negative -, and Question?. It could be interpreted that the English teaching patterns of TAM in High Schools were by giving formulas and memorizing and not by giving concepts.","PeriodicalId":167024,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Ninth International Conference on Language and Arts (ICLA 2020)","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132717062","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Participants in this study were English teachers at one of inclusive elementary school in Karawang. This research design used a qualitative approach and descriptive methods. In data collection, researchers used interviews while data analysis was adapted from Braun and Clarke (2013). The results of this study indicated that a multisensory approach is an appropriate approach to be applied in learning to read English for students with dyslexia. Teachers can use learning media as support for multisensory use so that in the learning process students can use more than one sense. The use of this approach has a positive effect on learning to read English for students with dyslexia, but this approach requires a variety of supporting media which is quite expensive. The multisensory approach also cannot be used with short learning times because students need a long time to learn.","PeriodicalId":167024,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Ninth International Conference on Language and Arts (ICLA 2020)","volume":"95 1-2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123477492","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The implementation of rewards and punishment in teaching adolescents may bring some positive impacts on students learning. This paper explores how existing literature discusses the notion of rewards and punishment in the context of learning and how the rewards and punishment could affect students' learning theoretically. This paper also reviews what sort of activities teachers can do to implement rewards and punishment in a proper way. To answer these questions, the so-called 'library research' has been conducted. This was done by browsing, reading, and critically reviewing some related secondary sources such as books, journal articles. This study found that theoritically rewards would increase students' motivation to learn and work harder. The rewards and punishment will also increase students' interest in a particular subject. This will lead to a situation where rewards can motivate students to have good performance. In conclusion, this study indicates that if implemented wisely, rewards and punishment would bring a lot of positive effects on students' motivation and performance.","PeriodicalId":167024,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Ninth International Conference on Language and Arts (ICLA 2020)","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133117759","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The method used by Research & Development (R&D) by Borg and Gall is by conducting preliminary research, planning, development to be carried out, testing, revising works and improving choreography. Maquet's theory named the form of tourism packaging as art by metamorphosis or art that has undergone a change of form, or art of acculturation, or pseudo traditional art, or tourist art. Art that has not been packaged is called art by destination. The Wimsatt diagram states that tourist performances are a balance between traditional arts and the tourism industry, with criteria: imitation of the original, short and compact, full of variations from the original event, and if sold at a low price. Choreography development refers to the theory of Hawkins which processes from: (1) Sensory Data, (2). Feeling, (3). Imaging, (4). Transforming, and (5). The results of the research, the choreography development of the Salendang Dance has been carried out. Based on the results of previous research, there are 8 motives of motion. Each motive of motion is variedly developed into the form of a phrase by processing energy, space and time, thus producing an orderly and varied form of choreography, as a symbol of the lineage of Puti-puti Tarusan. Dance packaging is in accordance with the criteria for tourism performing arts including motion development, floor design, music, costumes and make-up, and shawl properties. All new styled worth showing off to tourists.","PeriodicalId":167024,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Ninth International Conference on Language and Arts (ICLA 2020)","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114303142","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To have natural and real lingual phenomena, data were taken from two sources; a part of cultural ceremony called ‘Pepancokh’ (it is a session where someone will perform a musical poetry) and six lesson books of Lampung language.
