The purpose of this research is to know or describe (1) level in reading ability of French, (2) difference of median score of French reading skill’s achievement of the students who are taught by problem based learning with conventional teaching. The method of this research is used an experimental method. By knowing the hypothesis, the researcher uses t-test formula. To get the data of French reading skill, the researcher is used a test measurement. The result of the data analysis is as follow: 1) the population comes from the students of the first semester. Sampling technique will be used lottery technique, from the population of normal distribution and has homogeneous variety, 2) proposed hypothesis “Median achievement score of French reading skill of the students who are taught by problem based learning model is higher than median achievement score of French reading skill achievement of students who are taught by conventional teaching”, 3) level of reading skill of French student’s achievement in French education program of Faculty of Teacher Training and Education of Lampung University in academic year 2015/2016 is considered to be good, with a median score 75 and 4) the result of this research with the population of Fench education program of Faculty of Teacher Training and Education , first semester in academic year 2015/2016. The hypothesis is accepted if sign more than α. In this case, the significance level is 0.05, meaning only 5% are error and 95% correct. Moreover, this study used a descriptive qualitative research. Observation, open-ended questionnaires, and interviews were used in this study. The result of this study showed that the group work strategy had significant effect towards English learning outcomes. In addition, some teachers and students approved that the group work strategy is an active learning strategy. It was proven by teachers’ answers on open-ended questionnaires. In sum, it can be inferred that group work strategy can be used to make an active learning and improve students’ outcomes in learning English. This virus can cause disease not only human, but also birds and mammals. The extraordinary events caused by the corona virus become a new problem in various fields of life, including in the field of education. Every educator is required to be able to innovate, so that the learning process and physical limitations can both continue. Therefore, not long after the physical restriction instructions were applied, the online learning model or commonly referred to as e-learning began to be socialized. The purpose of writing this article is to see the effectiveness of the Guru Virtual platform as an daring learning medium. To conduct this research, researcher uses descriptive qualitative method. Qualitative descriptive method is a method that analyzes research in the form of descriptions not in the form of numbers or coefficients about the relationship between variables. The data gathered from the research is in the form of words or pictures not numbers. The data was collected by designing learning scenarios, recording, and interviewing. In addition, the calculation of student learning outcomes is also carried out to see learning outcomes using the Guru Virtual. Based on the results of interviews with students, Guru Virtual is an effective platform to be used as an daring learning platform. The aim of this research was find out the Ideology of Stephen Hawking that was reflected on his speech entitled ‘The Universe’ which uploaded on TEDTalks through the use of illocutionary act. The research method used was descriptive qualitative to get deep analysis by using note taking technique and the data was analyzed by using an approach of critical discourse analysis by Fairclough. This research utilized Speech Act by Austin (1962 and Searle (1977). The results showed that Stephen gave a lot of information from what he has known and proved about the universe then emphasized to the viewer that Big Bang is the beginning of the universe. Therefore, we aim to explain how local language skills and language patterns are among the younger generation. The descriptive method analyses the data obtained from the questionnaire given to the participants. The results showed that there had been a shift in local languages among the young generation of Lampung. The data explains that few young people are still fluent in local languages and use Indonesian to communicate in various domains. Thus, the younger generation gradually abandoned the local language as a cultural wealth of Indonesia. Study implications are also discussed, along with several recommendations for future studies. The aims of this study are to identify types of satirical expression and identify the translation techniques used to translate the satirical expression found in serial television subtitle entitled ‘Bridgerton’. The utterance contains satirical expression found in 5 episodes of the serial television used as data in this research—the data obtained through content analysis. There are four types of satirical expression analyzed in this research; irony, satire, cynicism and sarcasm. Furthermore, the result suggests that there are 66 data of satire, 49 data of cynicism, 29 data of sarcasm, and 27 data of irony. On the other hand, there are 13 translation techniques applied in translating the utterance of satirical expression. The most dominant technique used is reduction (29) followed by discursive creation (23), established equivalent (23), literal translation (22), compensation (21), linguistic compression (20), transposition (14), modulation (8), linguistic amplification (4), borrowing (3), particularization (2), adaptation (1), dan substitution (1). A qualitative design was carried out to conduct the study. It focused on interpreting and understanding students’ perception on learning English tenses. The context of study was two classes who were taking English grammar and structure, in particular for the subject matter of English tenses. English tenses were explained orally in the class before students used SRCs to improve their understanding of using English tenses. Data were collected by distributing the questionnaire to the students who participated in two classes with total number of 57 students.The data were classified based on the repetitive and common forms found to assign criteria to the most important aspects related to the objectives of the study. Results indicated that the majority of students participating in the SRCs gamesagreed to all statements in the distributed questionnaire. However, only small number of students responded to their disagreement or neutrality. Di setiap jenjang, pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia sudah terintegrasi dengan teks-teks sesuai dengan jenisnya. Upaya itu dilakukan guna meningkatnya kemampuan literasi siswa dalam menyerap informasi dengan bijaksana dan cerdas demi partisipasinya dalam kemajuan IPTEKS. Sudah semestinya setiap sekolah di Indonesia dapat mendorong siswanya agar memiliki tingkat literasi membaca yang baik termasuk di Provinsi Lampung. Akan tetapi, hal itu tidak sejalan dengan data empiris Badan Pengembangan dan Pembinaan Bahasa tahun 2018 yang mencatat bahwa tingkat literasi Provinsi Lampung masih berada di angka 48, 43% dan tergolong rendah. Penelitian ini akan mendeskripsikan bagaimana kemampuan literasi membaca teks LHO (Laporan Hasil Observasi) siswa jenjang SMA di YP Unila. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif dan menerapkan teknik analisis data dengan alat asesmen PISA (Programme for International Students Assesment). Setelah mengetahui kemampuan literasi membaca teks, tujuan jangka panjang penelitian ini adalah pengembangan model pembelajaran bahasa yang berbasis pada literasi budaya melalui pengembangan materi dan media pembelajaran yang berbasis literasi budaya lokal (local wisdom).
