The vulnerabilities of mobiles resulting from the inherent vulnerable characteristic of software products, however, can be exploited, causing substantial economic loss or privacy leakage. This paper introduces an information metadata model, comprising a life cycle model and a heterogeneous network model, to investigate the evolving patterns of vulnerabilities in the current Android Mobile Vulnerability Market (AMVM). The test bed collects data from a variety of vulnerability datasets, comprising 19,711 vulnerable records. An empirical study is conducted to trace the evolution process of vulnerabilities in the AMVM. The network analysis method has opened a new way of studying mobile vulnerability market, in order to improve the security situation in the Android ecosystem.","PeriodicalId":166267,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Mobile Services","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125762969","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Motivated by the problem of providing high Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR) in the LLNs running RPL(Routing Protocol for Low-power and Lossy Networks) routing protocol, we implemented a lightweight add-on functionality to the network layer's packet forwarding mechanism, Link Peek, in which the forwarding node iteratively retransmits the packet to its alternate/next best parent belonging to the same RPL DODAG(Destination Oriented Directed A cyclic Graph) instance whenever IEEE 802.15.4 MAC layer retransmission count set by our mechanism for the current best parent is exceeded. With this simple reactive and successive retry mechanism, our experimentation has shown significant performance gain in terms of achieving high PDRs, even at higher data rates, over the LLNs under different operating environments. We implemented Link Peek over the Contiki RPL protocol stack. We describe the implementation details and discuss various tunable parameters that affect the network performance. The Cooja simulation and real-world physical test bed experimentation with link outage environment showed PDRs > 99.40% with Link Peek as against the PDRs of 76-90% obtained using the native network stack implementation. Through the experimental results we demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach in supporting higher data rates even in node mobility scenarios.","PeriodicalId":166267,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Mobile Services","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130294765","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Through mobile technologies, farmers are aided to quickly and easily communicate, advertise goods and services, as well as accessing agronomic data in soft-real time. Though mobile devices are a good source of agronomic information access and dissemination, the over-dependence on wireless communication protocols for communication is a bit of a challenge. Due to the mobility of farmers, the wireless networks can experience bandwidth fluctuations and that can hamper data transfer and management in mobile-server (cloud) ecosystems. To address this issue, previous works propose mobile data storage to support information access in an offline mode. However, the question of how to efficiently management the data state on the mobile is under-studied. In this work, we proposed a mobile-cloud architecture that enables farmers to manage data transfer and storage of agronomic data on their mobile devices in the face of the network challenges. Three different P2P Key-Value Storage methodologies are presented which are: 1) Bloom Filters algorithm, 2) whole state data transfer, and 3) exchange of delta (updates) only. The whole state data transfer is only recommended when there is stable wireless connection.","PeriodicalId":166267,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Mobile Services","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134395053","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The emergence of Big Data technologies have led to the creation of alternate instantiations of the traditional approach, one where the storage systems have moved from relational databases to NoSQL technologies like HDFS. This approach to data management has been found wanting as enterprises begin to deal with complex and heterogeneous data, especially in the area of Internet of Things (IoT). IoT environments are characterized by data producers and data processing requirements. In this paper, we articulate the shortcomings of traditional approaches to data management in the context of IoT. We identify the challenges brought forth due to content heterogeneity, requirements of scale, and robustness of ETL processes, and the need to rapidly onboard and support multiple applications such as analytics. Our approach introduces the Linked Enterprise Data Model (LEDM), a knowledge representation approach derived from Linked Data for modeling and linking the disparate aspects of data infrastructure. We leverage this model in developing a scalable and robust ETL framework. The framework adopts the Lambda architecture approach and supports both stream and batch processing of incoming data. We build this capability for the streaming leg of the Lambda architecture comprising of Amazon Kinesis, Apache Spark Streaming, and Amazon Dynamo.","PeriodicalId":166267,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Mobile Services","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133011873","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The popularization of computing devices, specially portable and for personal use ones, and the large number of applications for these devices are factors that favor social interactions navigation, entertainment, and others. These applications occasionally evaluate the user context through sensors and their online activities, registering fragments of the user context recorded in semantically valuable datasets. In this study, we investigated the challenge of analysis of heterogeneous data from ubiquitous and pervasive applications using an approach based on layers of sensing. We evaluated the urban scenario considering the mobility of users and the weather. The results showed a phenomenon of behavior transition within a specific temperature range for a group of cities studied in this paper.","PeriodicalId":166267,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Mobile Services","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132114394","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Not the least of which includes the control of the mobile sensor data stream by existing cloud services architecture. The challenges associated with these mobile sensors are virtually infinite as more devices are added to the IoT every second. In order to maintain a high degree of volume control and performance throughput as well as data quality, powerful cloud architectures must be designed, deployed and maintained. In addition to handling the high volume from existing sensor devices, additional tracking and control problems result from \"humans as a sensor\". These challenges will provide many opportunities for cloud based sensors services. Our research seeks to predict and explore the various opportunities, challenges and approaches in mobile sensor clouds and devices over the next few years.","PeriodicalId":166267,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Mobile Services","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133769671","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We first introduce a novel architecture of service container for providing a running environment for services. We then propose efficient methods for encapsulating component-level, process-level, subsystem-level software resources into services. Extensive results show that our methods can be much more efficient than common web-service based resource encapsulation in both wired and wireless environments.","PeriodicalId":166267,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Mobile Services","volume":"66 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133427145","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Operating in a body area network around a smartphone user they serve a variety of commercial, medical, and personal uses. Whether used for fitness tracking, mobile health monitoring, or as remote controllers, wearable devices can include sensors that collect a variety of data and actuators that provide hap tic feedback and unique user interfaces for controlling software and hardware. Wearables are typically wireless and use Bluetooth LE (low energy) to transmit data to a waiting smartphone app. Frequently, apps forward this data onward to online web servers for tracking. Security and privacy concerns abound when wearables capture sensitive data or provide critical functionality. This paper develops a platform, called SecuWear, for conducting wearable security research, collecting data, and identifying vulnerabilities in hardware and software. SecuWear combines open source technologies to enable researchers to rapidly prototype security vulnerability test cases, evaluate them on actual hardware, and analyze the results to understand how best to mitigate problems. The paper includes two types of evaluation in the form of a comparative analysis and empirical study. The results reveal how several passive observation attacks present themselves in wearable applications and how the SecuWear platform can capture the necessary information needed to identify and combat such attacks.","PeriodicalId":166267,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Mobile Services","volume":"71 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127670686","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, current applications need to be specifically tailored to a concrete cloud provider infrastructure, leading to vendor lock-in. Migrating applications to the cloud or between cloud providers is challenging due to differences in deployment directives, available services, and programming interfaces. Existing infrastructure as code approaches closely tie application artifacts to their deployment directives and do not allow for a clear separation of application artifacts from deployment infrastructure. In this paper, we present Smart Fabric, a methodology and accompanying toolset for infrastructure-agnostic deployment of application artifact topologies based on a constraint-based, declarative specification of the required deployment infrastructure. Our framework allows for seamless migration of application topologies between deployment targets and enables independent, parallel evolution of both, applications and underlying infrastructure. We discuss the feasibility of the proposed methodology and prototype implementation using representative applications from the Internet of Things and smart city domains.","PeriodicalId":166267,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Mobile Services","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128070674","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

So it is critical to study novel software architecture/frameworks which are open, connecting multiple heterogonous devices and multiple networks, supporting multiple concurrent applications, enabling reliable data/command delivery among home gateway and cloud/smart phone, and easy to develop third party service business applications. To achieve the above demand, this paper proposes a service framework for smart home which well combines Lab of Things (HomeOS), MQTT and Azure cloud. To validate this service framework's rationality and combine high energy consumption of the whole society, based on this service framework, we developed a smart home energy management service system, which includes two sub-systems, i.e. Home energy management application running on home gateway, and energy service system for multi-homes running on Azure cloud and operated by specialized 3rd party energy service provider.","PeriodicalId":166267,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Mobile Services","volume":"341 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124209990","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
