Gossa","doi":"10.1109/POWERENG.2011.6036484","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/POWERENG.2011.6036484","url":null,"abstract":"This paper describes an investigation of insulated-gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs) open circuit faults detection and diagnosis in voltage source inverter (VSI) fed induction motors. The proposed strategy is based on the combining of the inverter pole voltage measurement and the switching pattern. The combined diagnosis signals allow not only the detection of single fault but also the multiple open circuit fault of the inverter switches. For simplicity and cost-effectiveness, the fault detection for each inverter leg is carried out by a simple circuit. To avoid the false diagnosis alarms, the time delays due to turn-on and turn-off process of the power switches are compensated while acting on the switching pattern. Different from the conventional method, the proposed technique was marked by a better time delay between the fault occurrence and its detection. For this aim, a circuit has been designed using UA741, an operational amplifier, which is not affected owing to instant spikes and sags on the signals of current or voltage. Most of the zero-crossing detectors presented in the literature recently generate unsteady output signals usually under the distorted current and voltage signals. The novel zero-crossing detector circuit presented in this study serves a powerful solution for such problems. The detector designed has been tested under various conditions and signals including 19.8% Total harmonic distortion (THD). This paper presents a non-active power multivector concept, based on an original vector space frequency-domain approach that bridges the gap between both domains. The suggested correspondence can provide a convenient descriptive language to reconcile Fryze's instantaneous non-active power with Budeanu's deactive-power. The aim of this article is to present a model to investigate the internal fault currents in large hydro generators with wave windings. This model is based on a modified winding function approach, where the machine inductances are calculated directly from the machine winding distribution, and the space harmonics produced by them are also taken into account. Different compensation strategies have been proposed to control the series APF. The most effective strategy determines the APF reference voltage as addition of two terms. The first one is proportional to source current harmonics and the second one is opposite to the load voltage harmonics. The control strategy has been analyzed from the state model of the single phase equivalent circuit. The resulting model analysis provides the information needed to establish design criteria for the control strategy, both in terms of harmonic filtering and the system stability. The design criteria have been applied to load type of current source harmonics (CSH). Finally, results of an experimental prototype developed for this purpose allowed the proposed analysis to be verified. The vector control scheme is used for the variable speed DFIG operation and to compensate phase difference between grid and DFIG stator voltages a PLL algorithm is used. After the synchronization, the generator is connected to the grid. A laboratory test bench has been set up in order to verify developed algorithm. The experimental set consists of a DFIG, variable speed induction machine and a back-to-back converter. The control algorithms run on eZdsp F2812 target equipped with a TI TMS320F2812 DSP. For this low-cost implementation a discrete sliding mode angular position control was applied based on the reaching law control (RLC) approach. The SRM logic command and controller algorithm are installed in a low-cost system based on a digital signal controller (dsPIC). The system was designed in order to not require any analog sensors, like current sensor or speed sensor, as well as any ADC or DAC converters. In this paper it is presented the discrete sliding mode control system design, the prototype implementation and experimental results in shaft tracking position control.
