This paper proposes a methodology that makes use of Semantic Web technologies to build search engine for a given context. The Semantic Web is made of a set of technologies, tools and standards that form the basis of an infrastructure to support the vision of a Web associated with meaning. The proposed methodology was test in commercial contexts that provide some kind of product or service, such as restaurants and hotels. The information, which is used as a starting point, is extracted from a Web site with thematic information or directory, from which the selected ontology is populated, this being built from scratch or by adapting some already existing ontology, creating a semantic database; finally, a search application that searches and displays the information found with the specific criteria. The results show that a search engine that uses Semantic Web technologies can achieve good results compared with traditional search engines.","PeriodicalId":166098,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"350 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115969550","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Background Subtraction (BS) algorithms have been employed for several years to find a moving objects in a scene. BS has been used in video surveillance due to its simplicity and the fact that cameras are stationary in a video surveillance systems. The present paper introduce a new approach to motion detection through a hierarchical model that uses Mutual Information as a measure of change in the scene. Since pixels in a frame belong to objects, a segmentation in regions of the frame is done by mean-shift algorithm. Then a Mutual information measurement between the segmented region and the incoming frame is performed. A first approach to foreground mask is achieved and later is refined using a modification of the Wronskian Change Detector (WCD). The experimental results show that our proposed algorithm improve the performance in comparison with a pixel based Background Subtraction algorithm mixture of gaussians (MoG), a hierarchical block based Background Subtraction algorithm (HMDRP) and a test of linear independence (WCD).","PeriodicalId":166098,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"69 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125934902","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Then we define a large set of possible features, which are angles calculated from the joints of the skeleton provided by the kinect device. Our contribution is to propose an algorithm: Reduction of Feature Dimensions based on Standard Deviation (RFD-SD), to select the relevant set of features. In some cases we are evaluating if using a Genetic Algorithm (GA) contributes to improve the recognition. The experiments are carried out with two public datasets, to analyze the effect of using the complete set of proposed features, and the set of selected features. The obtained results suggest that action recognition improves by using the selected features.","PeriodicalId":166098,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127790846","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this work the student is evaluated from symbolic data, specifically from the information recorded in MIDI files which are normally produced by modern instruments such as music keyboards. Our approach for evaluating a music student consists of converting the MIDI file produced by the student to a long string with the sequence of music notes and durations. This string is compared to another long string that corresponds to a “correct” version of the same music which has been generated by a trained musician. The more similar the string generated by the student to the string generated by the trained musician is the higher the grade. In our experiments 13 music students were evaluated and their grades compared to those assigned by a music teacher. According to our tests the Transposition invariant InDel distance proved to be the most adequate. The Branch and Bound algorithm was used to deal with the fact that this distance requires more time to be computed. The grades of the students are quite similar to those assigned by the teacher so the system can reliably and impartially be used to evaluate music students.","PeriodicalId":166098,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131943499","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The resonant inverter consists of a full bridge and a resonant tank to generate a high frequency sine wave. The article proposes the study of three resonant tanks in order to determine which has the greatest gain in current and voltage. The resonant tanks to be analyzed are the resonant tank RSE series, parallel resonant tank transformer PRT and the series resonant tank transformer SERT. It was determined that the tank SERT has better characteristics for use in cells ozone, the design have shown that the load has little effect on the resonance frequency allowing various types of cells ozone.","PeriodicalId":166098,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129704367","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Microbial Fuel Cells (MFC) are emergent technology based on biological systems. Actually energy production and harvesting are limited due to its own behaviour and energy extraction systems. Specifically, system efficiency due to the parasitic elements has been not reported. The present work considers an MFC and converter models for energy extraction section. In order to improve the system efficiency an average state-space simulation was done to determine the proper design parameters to operate the system in the Maximum Power Point.","PeriodicalId":166098,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"2016 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132894628","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The function evaluation is based on the Variable Interaction Identification for Constrained Optimization Problems (VIIC), that detects interactions among variables in large-scale problems. The new algorithm is capable of getting variable arrangements where the number of subgroups, as well as variables in each subgroup, are not fixed as in traditional decomposition methods. The proposed method is compared against VIIC with neighborhood strategy (VIICN). Those algorithms are tested on a novel benchmark for large scale constrained problems with 100, 500 and 1000 dimensions. The numerical results indicate that the proposed method outperforms VIICN, with the computational time is greatly reduced, which makes DVIIC a viable method for solving large-scale constrained optimization problems.","PeriodicalId":166098,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127864799","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This work deals with a novel simple chaotic generator with a single signum nonlinearity. The proposed chaotic generator is simple with only ten elements and can be realized easily. The behavior of such system is discovered through an implementation of the circuit using off-the-shelf components such as op-amps, resistors and capacitors. Moreover the synchronization of two diffusively coupled circuits is also studied experimentally and obtained results are reported. Because of its chaotic behavior as well as its simplicity, the chaotic circuit can be used in engineering applications and for educational purposes.","PeriodicalId":166098,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126762543","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
