In order to effectively achieve health equity among WoC, it is imperative to understand how WoC define, understand and cope with their daily stressors. This study aims to add to the discourse examining WoC stress and methods of coping with stressors. An electronically based survey was distributed utilizing a snowball distribution technique via social media, email and traditional methods. Ninety-seven percent (97%) of the respondents who identified as female, identified as Women of Color. The respondents reported that they had, 44% attained a Master’s degree or more, and 34% earn more than $100k annually. In regards to stress indicated that they “sometimes” experience discrimination based on race and gender and they have been limited in actions due to their race and gender. Coping mechanisms vary among the women, with, 79% “spending time alone” in response to race and gender bias. Over all WoC perceive that they experience racial and gender bias with negative health impacts. The coping mechanisms utilized, include spending time alone require further exploration to determine if it supports positive health outcomes.","PeriodicalId":165287,"journal":{"name":"Psychology & Psychological Research International Journal","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130388940","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A total of 30 sample were selected using convenience sampling technique. A structured demographic questionnaire and Modified Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) was used to collect the data. The results revealed that during pre-test the mean percentage of samples with severe stress was (74.17%) which was reduced to (49.17%) during post-test. The mean difference between the posttest and pre-test overall stress score of senior citizens was found to be highly significant at p=<0.01, df- 29. The study concluded that Progressive muscle relaxation therapy was significantly effective in reducing Stress among Senior citizens residing in selected old age home.","PeriodicalId":165287,"journal":{"name":"Psychology & Psychological Research International Journal","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115232552","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Patients with high-altitude polycythemia and healthy volunteers were prospectively enrolled in the Affiliated Hospital of Qinghai University from 2020 to 2022. The number of red blood cells, hemoglobin concentration, bilirubin, unsaturated iron binding capacity, and free hemoglobin were detected to confirm the existence of hemolysis in high-altitude polycythemia. A rodent model of high-altitude polycythemia was constructed, and osmotic fragility tests were performed to detect the osmotic fragility of red blood cells. Flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, and hematoxylin-eosin staining (HE staining) were used to identify the phagocytic ability of macrophages in the liver and spleen of the animal model to further clarify the mechanism of hemolysis. Patients and animal models of high-altitude polycythemia show increased osmotic fragility of erythrocytes in peripheral blood, leading to hemolysis, and increased compensatory macrophages in the liver and spleen.","PeriodicalId":165287,"journal":{"name":"Psychology & Psychological Research International Journal","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114337501","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
