Diversity and dissonance among organizational actors tend to be seen as sources of creativity and innovation, but dissonance may also cause conflicts, disintegration and undermine collaboration. This implies that collaborative innovation entails demanding balancing acts, which need to be better understood. The article contributes to this by asking: How may institutional logics theory enhance insights on management of conflicts and tensions in collaborative innovation? The institutional logics lens is applied in the analysis of a drop-in centre providing low-threshold services to persons engaged in risky use of substances.","PeriodicalId":165032,"journal":{"name":"Nordisk välfärdsforskning | Nordic Welfare Research","volume":"8 4","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120840834","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This organizational shift is part of the “Channel Strategy”, which aims to route service users through multiple choices of media channel in NAV. The research question is: How do NAV service users with mental health challenges and co-occurring disorders experience the digitalization of NAV’s services? Our methodological framework is a bottom-up perspective. Our empirical sample consists of qualitative interviews with 25 service users with co-occurring disorders and challenges with mental health problems who have extensive knowledge of and experience using NAV’s services. The findings indicate a shift towards what we have termed “faceless interaction”, which refers to interactions related to users, frontline workers and the welfare system, as well as to how users respond to mediation in a digital context. In this integrated circuit, humans are responding to the terms set by technology; human interaction related to user involvement and responsibility is less prominent. The conclusion indicates that a shift towards digital social services in NAV requires new forms of skill and communication among both frontline workers in NAV and users with mental health challenges and co-occurring disorders. questions, it might take a minute and a half, and then you get an answer, rather than a three-month battle (respondent 10).","PeriodicalId":165032,"journal":{"name":"Nordisk välfärdsforskning | Nordic Welfare Research","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127850981","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, research shows that the assessment of PA is guided by a medical understanding of disability and by austerity rather than by disability policy. Furthermore, the number of people with state-funded PA has decreased. The purpose of the article is to illuminate the contradictions that characterize life with PA in today’s Sweden. PA is about being able to influence one’s living conditions, to participate and to exercise self-determination, but also about lack of power and control since the right to PA can be withdrawn. The article draws on a participant-based research circle in which users and their representatives were among the participants. The results highlight the complex relationships between personal support and the opportunity to shape one’s existence. PA is considered crucial for everyday life, relationships, work and health. Contacts with the authorities evoke powerlessness, and the fear of losing the PA is palpable. The article contributes knowledge about the social aspects of disability and how reforms and cutbacks influence people’s lives. Such knowledge is essential as, in a Swedish context, PA has become a matter of need rather than of human rights.","PeriodicalId":165032,"journal":{"name":"Nordisk välfärdsforskning | Nordic Welfare Research","volume":"336 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134126803","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The article examines how, in practice, user-oriented welfare technologies support the quality of life of elderly people who have dementia and live in residential care facilities. The study’s empirical data were collected through participant observation studies and interviews at two Danish residential care facilities in two municipalities. The analysis iden-tified two themes: 1) freedom to go out with GPS and 2) comfort and social togetherness with therapeutic dolls and PARO seals. The article elucidates how the practical use of user-oriented welfare technologies, when done without reflection, bears the risk of ignoring the old resident’s individual situation. Furthermore, it appears that user-oriented welfare technologies give rise to new nursing and care tasks. These tasks must be taken seriously if the technologies for the old people living with dementia in residential care facilities are to underpin quality of life and broader under-standing, understood both as individual and community-based and as founded on the experiences, values, interests and needs of the old resident.","PeriodicalId":165032,"journal":{"name":"Nordisk välfärdsforskning | Nordic Welfare Research","volume":"136 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115585440","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In Norway, the provision of housing for people who are disadvantaged in the housing market is a municipal undertaking. National guidelines state that services should be recovery-oriented and enhance quality of life. Eight persons who received services from a community outreach team participated in the study. Data were generated through individual interviews and analyzed using a narrative approach. The participants’ everyday lives seemed solitary and isolated. Their housing situation and the housing market, coupled with public guidelines and practices, appeared to result in a situation of deadlock. Referring to a glass dome, the authors propose a situation where people see themselves as secluded from others, literally and metaphorically.","PeriodicalId":165032,"journal":{"name":"Nordisk välfärdsforskning | Nordic Welfare Research","volume":"23 22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124766670","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Begrunnelsen er lave fødselsrater, økt levealder og en økende andel eldre i befolkningen. For å møte utfordringen har regjeringene i Norden, så vel som i Europa, reformert sine pensjonssystemer og igangsatt ulike tiltak for å fremme et mer aldersvennlig arbeidsliv. Flere land har også økt nedre aldersgrense for uttak av alderspensjon, samtidig som den øvre aldersgrensen for stillingsvern er hevet, og i enkelte land sågar fjernet. Pensjonsreformene har gjort det mindre økonomisk lønnsomt å gå av tidlig og mer lønnsomt å stå i jobb til en høy alder. Har så endringene hatt de virkningene en håpet på?
