To explore issues relating to inaccurate coding in the classification of diseases related to poisoning, and to discuss the solutions. Methods. The current case management information system in the hospital was used to search for the classification of diseases related to poisoning during 2012 and 2013. The original medical records were compared with the results given by the system, followed by analyses of incorrect coding. Results. During the study period, the frequency of incorrect coding and additional coding was 14.7% and 32.4%, respectively. Conclusion. Staff in charge of disease coding should regularly examine the quality of data coded in the system, and a QC system should be added into the system to ensure its accuracy.","PeriodicalId":163748,"journal":{"name":"Chinese Medical Record English Edition","volume":"75 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126283902","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Identifying ways to optimize and continuously improve both the medical quality as well as the comprehensive competitiveness of hospitals has become the main theme of hospital management []. Medical quality is a complex, multi-factor, and multi-index system, and the primary problem to be solved in the continuous process of improving medical quality is carrying out an objective, comprehensive, and accurate analysis and evaluation of the medical quality. Methods. To conduct syn-position statistical analysis on the hospitalized patients by age and gender, according to the annual statement of disease classification at our hospital, from 2008 to 2012, on the basis of ICD-10. Results. Between 2008 and 2012, the top 10 diseases accounted for 90.97% of the total diseases, of which the top 5 diseases were, respectively, circulatory diseases, respiratory diseases, digestive diseases, diseases of the urogenital system, and injury and poisoning. The management system for medical dispute files should be established and improved by the medical institutions; the valuable data should be collected regularly, promptly and completely by persons specially assigned to the task, in the process of dealing with medical disputes; through the scientific filing and appropriate storage, the medical dispute files can quickly and conveniently serve medical workers and researchers. Practice shows that the effective management of medical dispute files plays an important role in standardizing the practices in a hospital, improving the quality of the medical workers, maintaining continuous improvement of medical quality and medical safety, and building a harmonious doctor-patient relationship.","PeriodicalId":163748,"journal":{"name":"Chinese Medical Record English Edition","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130687840","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To analyze the factors influencing the hospitalization costs of patients undergoing lung cancer surgery, based on the back-propagation (BP) neural network model, and to provide support for controlling the costs effectively. Method. To collect the hospitalization data of 168 cases of patients with lung cancer surgery from January 2010 to December 2013, and then analyze the influencing factors of the different classified hospitalization costs based on the BP neural network. Results. The expenses on drugs and consumables comprise the largest proportion of the total cost of hospitalization, at 34.35% and 23.24% respectively. The length of hospital stay is the most important factor in the hospital costs. The patients with longer hospital stay have higher costs and the difference is significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion.
