In particular, accurate state estimation in real time is one of the most important technologies. In the ship and ocean engineering fields, there have been many studies on state estimation using nonlinear Kalman filters. Several methods have been proposed for nonlinear Kalman filters. However, there is insufficient verification on the selection of which filter should be applied among them. Therefore, this study aims to validate the filter selection to provide a guideline for filter selection. The effects of modeling error, observation noise, and type of maneuvers on the estimation accuracy of the unscented Kalman filter () and ensemble Kalman filter () used in this study were investigated. In addition, it was verified whether filtering could be performed in real time. The results show that modeling error significantly impacts the estimation accuracy of the and . However, the observation noise and types of maneuvers did not have an impact like the modeling error. Thus, we obtained the guideline that and should be used differently depending on the required computation time. We also obtained that keeping the modeling error sufficiently small is essential to improving the estimation accuracy.","PeriodicalId":16334,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Marine Science and Technology","volume":"5 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136161047","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Berthing control problems are often tackled by tracking a predefined trajectory or path. Maintaining a tracking error of zero under an uncertain environment is impossible; the tracking controller is nonetheless required to bring vessels close to desired berths. The tracking controller must prioritize the avoidance of tracking errors that may cause collisions with obstacles. This paper proposes a training method based on reinforcement learning for a trajectory tracking controller that reduces the probability of collisions with static obstacles. Via numerical simulations, we show that the proposed method reduces the probability of collisions during berthing maneuvers. Furthermore, this paper shows the tracking performance in a model experiment.","PeriodicalId":16334,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Marine Science and Technology","volume":"141 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135730023","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, previous studies on ferry terminal walkability assessment have been inadequate. This study aimed to develop a wearable sensor system to automatically assess walkability at ferry terminals without conducting surveys. We applied seven machine learning (ML) classifiers to detect different walking environments, including flat ground (FG), downhill slope (DS), uphill slope (US), and uneven surface (UE). The ML models were evaluated across different combinations of classes: 2-class (FG vs. UE), 3-class (U) (FG vs. US vs. UE), 3-class (D) (FG vs. DS vs. UE), and 4-class (FG vs. DS vs. US vs. UE). Among these, support vector machine (SVM) classifiers had the best area under the receiver operating characteristic curves (AUCs) for the 2-class, 3-class (U), and 4-class datasets with 0.970, 0.920, and 0.922, respectively. AdaBoost (AB) performed the best in 3-class (D) with an AUC of 0.953. The least absolute shrinkage and selection operator exhibited better performance in classifying walking environments than maximum relevance and minimum redundancy. This study assessed passenger walkability and improved the built environments at ferry terminals by identifying uncomfortable walking conditions. Furthermore, the results contribute to the development of a passenger walkability evaluation system utilizing intelligent sensors and to the economic revitalization of communities near ferry terminals.","PeriodicalId":16334,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Marine Science and Technology","volume":"127 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135740100","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To ensure efficient management of the supply chain within the L Aquatic Products company, it is imperative to employ reliable technical support in establishing an effective traceability management system. The traceability of products can provide managers with valuable insight into the intricacies of the supply chain. By establishing a dependable food traceability system, brand trust can be strengthened, and consumers can inquire about the movement of aquatic products within the supply chain. Blockchain technology offers features such as traceability, accountability, transparency, reliability, trust, privacy, and security, making it a viable solution for the aquatic industry. Although some researchers propose comprehensive solutions for application in aquatic companies, it is important to note that many aquatic firms are traditional companies with unique supply chain requirements. A one-size-fits-all solution may not be suitable and could lead to increased operational costs. In this research, we begin by conducting interviews with the company to gain insight into their actual production processes. Based on these findings, we design and implement a blockchain traceability process tailored specifically to the aquatic firm's supply chain. Additionally, we survey the opinions of the company's staff to ensure that the system aligns with their needs. The results indicate that the blockchain traceability system benefits the company's development.","PeriodicalId":16334,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Marine Science and Technology","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135740101","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
