While the workers of today are navigating this transition, students require skills to lead the working landscape of the future. These skills, known as 21st century skills which encompass enterprising skills (i.e., creativity, innovation, teamwork), are generic skills that are transferable across different jobs and are a powerful predictor of long-term job success and will be increasingly important into the future. The Australian Government calls for enhanced enterprise skills due to their ubiquitous application and benefit across life and work domains. To answer this call, this chapter bridges the knowledge and resource gap that Australian STEAM academics have by explaining the development of a specially designed platform to teach the 21st century skills and enterprise skills.","PeriodicalId":162741,"journal":{"name":"Strategies for the Creation and Maintenance of Entrepreneurial Universities","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124925994","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective of this chapter is to narrow this research gap by investigating the impact of organizational strategy and school leadership on a teacher's perceptions of entrepreneurship in teaching. This chapter explores the impact of a teacher's own entrepreneurial background and entrepreneurship training on these perceptions. The data consist of 1,119 answers from Finnish higher education institute (HEI) teachers. Findings show that managerial practices in the HEI in supporting entrepreneurship education have a positive impact on the teachers' perceptions. Additionally, a teacher's entrepreneurial background and entrepreneurship training play a role in shaping the teacher's perceptions of the importance of entrepreneurship education. Universities can become more entrepreneurial by developing management practices that support the implementation of entrepreneurship education.","PeriodicalId":162741,"journal":{"name":"Strategies for the Creation and Maintenance of Entrepreneurial Universities","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124765042","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The entrepreneurialism of a university is a typical topic of which some measurement pressure can exist. The chapter discusses the pros and cons of different means to measure the entrepreneurialism of a university. The comparisons are made between using several individual metrics, two different types of balanced scorecard approaches, and a qualitative approach. The chapter ends by presenting four short scenarios after which four recommendations about building a measurement system are given: (1) measure entrepreneurialism, (2) define what the system is used for, (3) have different systems for different stakeholders, and (4) allow for ambiguity when comparing the results. Some ideas for future research are also provided.","PeriodicalId":162741,"journal":{"name":"Strategies for the Creation and Maintenance of Entrepreneurial Universities","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132430409","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It begins by discussing the literature on the entrepreneurial university, focusing on the role of financing. The literature shows that there are gaps in the financing of academic and graduate ventures. The second part of the chapter introduces short case examples that illustrate different forms of university-led venture funding, demonstrating how different universities have sought to fill funding gaps by means of seed capital grants, micro-financing, small business research grants, crowdfunding, social impact investing, seed capital investing, public venture capital, and venture capital. The chapter concludes by arguing that universities have sufficient resource endowments and human capital to address many funding gaps through innovative thinking and practice.","PeriodicalId":162741,"journal":{"name":"Strategies for the Creation and Maintenance of Entrepreneurial Universities","volume":"161 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127554526","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The tool should serve not only for immediate self-evaluation but also to inform institutional improvement and dynamics. The authors define UAS as a specific entrepreneurial hub for regional development and propose a multidimensional model for reflection of the UAS role in regional development. Opportunities, challenges, and limits of the model´s individual dimensions are discussed in two ways: firstly, as reflections of relevant literature and, secondly, using the practical experiences of project partners from different European countries as arguments for the proposed dimension(s). A strategy for assessing progress using the proposed model and criteria for indicators are presented and discussed.","PeriodicalId":162741,"journal":{"name":"Strategies for the Creation and Maintenance of Entrepreneurial Universities","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134237938","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The authors performed a systematic analysis of the 62 case studies reported on the HEInnovate website. The initiatives described within these case studies are classified under the eight dimensions of the HEInnovate framework and further grouped under new sub-dimensions which emerged inductively during content analysis. For each sub-dimension, the study analyses the similarities and specificities of the initiatives taken by universities and identifies key learnings and future challenges. The most frequently highlighted dimensions include entrepreneurial teaching and learning, knowledge exchange and collaboration, leadership and governance, and organisational capacity. Findings reveal the key role of strategy and organisational resources and capacities in developing the entrepreneurial agenda and the strong alignment of the entrepreneurial university to its three missions.","PeriodicalId":162741,"journal":{"name":"Strategies for the Creation and Maintenance of Entrepreneurial Universities","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128972301","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The findings emphasise the importance of learning ‘soft skills' in entrepreneurship education, as well as experiencing the ‘necessary evil' of failure and learning from failure in a safe environment. Most importantly, the chapter illustrates the connection between safety, action, emotion, and passion in a VCP. Lastly, this study highlights that harnessing obsessive passion into a sustainable form is an important yet difficult task. Passion changes over time, and VCP students harness this passion to achieve ‘sustainable obsessive and harmonious passion'. This study contributes to the literature on the development of entrepreneurial universities by focusing on the students and their entrepreneurial passion.","PeriodicalId":162741,"journal":{"name":"Strategies for the Creation and Maintenance of Entrepreneurial Universities","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134108353","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
