However, there is less research to delve into the process. The present study is an attempt to explore the gender conceptions carried by the readers of two diverse varieties of English Language Teaching (ELT) materials produced by local and foreign publishers, in Pakistani academic settings. For the said purpose, a mixed-method research method has been used; whereas, the instruments of the study are a semantic differential score list and a semi open-ended interview. The population of the study is comprised of two groups of students at the elementary level from two different types of Pakistan schooling system i.e. Government sector and private sector, as they are using different types of ELT material. The results of the study reveal that students exposed to these two varieties of materials have a difference in their gender conceptions. There is an observable difference in the way readers of each set of books relate different attributes to each gender group. Further, the participants of the interview also agree that characters in the textbooks are more often relatable and acceptable for them in real life. The research to some extent agrees that gender ideas provided to young minds in their textbooks contribute to their psychological construction of gender along with other instruments; however, more research is still needed. Finally, it is suggested that the revision of textbooks concerning offered stereotypical gender ideologies can help to reduce gender disparity, to some extent.","PeriodicalId":16272,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Language and Linguistic Studies","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42028484","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Even though many of the YouTube users remain anonymous when commenting, their language use in the comments can reflect the identity of a particular community. Therefore, a variety of computermediated discourse can be obtained from YouTube in deciphering a specific community or a country’s identity. This qualitative study is keen to investigate the representation of the Malaysian identity in the YouTube comments. Analysis were performed on the YouTube comments of Malaysian-related YouTube videos uploaded by famous Malaysian YouTubers. Textual analysis and coding of the YouTube comments were carried out using the NVivo software based on Herring’s (2004) Computer-Mediated Discourse Analysis (CMDA) and Braun & Clarke’s (2006) Thematic Analysis framework. Findings showed that there were various themes that were repeated in the YouTube comments discourse which is a representation of the Malaysian identities, namely feelings of love towards the country, Malaysian cuisine, language mix, being multiracial, Malaysian behaviours or stereotypes, and the birth country Malaysia. These results provide insights into the discourse that are associated with Malaysian identities and contributed knowledge to fill in the gap in literature regarding national identity in social media, particularly Malaysia.","PeriodicalId":16272,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Language and Linguistic Studies","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45432675","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many authors will deal with the first motif, but there will be no author at all in Albanian Romantic Literature that won’t involve in his creations love poetry. The erotic motif will lie somewhere more and somewhere less into the creativity of each representative of this period. Zef Sersembe is a Romantic ItalianArbëresh writer, whom devoted his life to poetry. Most of his poems are dedicated to love and it can be said that these creations can be considered as the most prosperous ones of this poet. He brought in Albanian and Italian literature not only a beautiful poetry, but also a creative individuality characterized by a distinctive and representative style. It will be exactly erotic poetry and some of its features which will be subject of our survey. Will be analyzed some of the elements that emerge in these creations, elements that relate not only to the use of motives, but also to the particular ways in which this author's erotic poetry is constructed through the connotation of language. The chosen creations that are object of our work are written in variants; therefore the main focus will be the way language is used to create different meanings, from almost the same corpus of signs between these variants.","PeriodicalId":16272,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Language and Linguistic Studies","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42477534","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
