In this paper the preamble is composed of one repeated data-carrying-and therefore random-orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbol. The current literature suggests several metrics to detect repetition preambles for coarse frame synchronization so we provide a ranking of four different metrics proposed by Chevillat, Maiwald and Ungerboeck (1987), Sandell, van de Beek and Borjesson (1995), Schmidl and Cox (see IEEE Trans. on Commun., vol.45, no.12, p.1613-21, 1997), and Keller and Hanzo (see Proceedings of the International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications (PIMRC'96), p.963-67, Taipei, Taiwan, 1996) via a simulative assessment. Furthermore, a probability-based motivation for the metric of Chevillat et al is given.","PeriodicalId":161972,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116595308","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the dynamic channel assignment scheme, the bandwidth of data streaming services can be dynamically allocated according to the current traffic loading in the system, and the different quality of service (QoS) requirement from diverse applications is guaranteed through dual threshold bandwidth reservation (DTBR) (Lizhong Li et al., 2003). The main contribution of this paper is that an efficient and reasonably accurate user-classified (fast user and slow user) analytical method instead of the general layer-classified (macrocell layer and microcell layer) is proposed to calculate the system performance. In particular, the user-classified analytical method take into account not only the dependence among multiple service classes (voice and data services) of the same class users (fast users or slow users) but also the correlation among different classes users. Both analysis and simulation results indicate that, dynamic channel assignment improve the performance of hierarchical cellular network and by adjusting the threshold values in the DTBR, it is capable of satisfying different QoS requirements for voice and data services","PeriodicalId":161972,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122944685","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This combination works properly provided that (i) a training sequence is sent each time when the parameters change, or, (ii) the error rate of the detector is very small. However, in practice, the channel parameters change randomly and continuously, and the error rate may be high, therefore this classical scheme may easily diverge. The standard Kalman type optimum recursive estimation equations can be reoptimized to include decision errors and maintain stability of such a system for error rates higher than 10%. For this purpose an Erasure Declaring Viterbi Algorithm which provides side information about the reliability of the data may be used.","PeriodicalId":161972,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications","volume":"185 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133348560","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In particular, we consider a scenario where the Base Station (BS) is equipped with an analog beamformer with a single radio-frequency chain and serves two single-antenna NOMA users, without knowledge of the channel state information (CSI) at the BS. As the power allocation inherently intertwines with Initial Access (IA), in this paper, a joint IA and power allocation problem is considered to optimize the achievable sum rate with minimum rate constraint for each user. To solve this non-convex problem, we first solve the IA problem to obtain a sub-optimal beamforming. Then, we achieve the sub-optimal power allocation for a 2-user uplink NOMA network. These optimization problems are solved using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). Extensive performance evaluations are conducted to compare the achievable sum rates of the NOMA and OMA systems. Results show that the performance of the NOMA system with the proposed sub-optimal solution is better than the OMA system and achieves near-ideal sum rate performance.","PeriodicalId":161972,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129684158","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
