Two different approaches are considered; traditional maximum-minimum (Max-Min) relay selection solution and two-stage relay selection strategy are investigated. Based on the extensive simulation results, although both relay selection algorithms provide full diversity, the two-stage relay selection method provides almost 3 dB gain for both users. This situation is extremely important in terms of energy efficiency. The bit error rate (BER) performances for the near and far users over the Rayleigh fading channel are evaluated with Monte Carlo simulations, considering the distance between nodes, power allocation coefficient, path loss exponent parameters.","PeriodicalId":160693,"journal":{"name":"2021 29th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference (SIU)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134520404","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two main programming environment modalities, web-based visual programming applications and electronic cards, have become popular in curricular activities. Limiting the programming activities around these programming environments restricts education accessibility in socio-economically disadvantaged regions due to the need for an individual computer per student, lack of decent infrastructure, and high electronics prices. Effective, shared use of smartphones and tablets in programming education can provide equal opportunities. In this scenario, students can code simple drawings and animations using their own materials as tangible programming blocks by employing a single shared phone in the classroom as an interpreter. This article explains our development process of a new tangible programming environment which increases the accessibility of education. We discuss effective inclassroom use of image/text processing practices and transfer learning methods on smartphones.","PeriodicalId":160693,"journal":{"name":"2021 29th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference (SIU)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122094588","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, a study was conducted on deep learning methods that make life important in the early diagnosis of breast cancer and skin cancer, which are among the most common types of cancer worldwide. Breast cancer and skin cancer data were classified as benign and malignant by deep learning methods. While working with the deep learning method, the classification was made using the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) algorithm. In this classification, the data are divided into benign cancer sets and malignant cancer sets. Finally, the data provided by the logistic regression method were analyzed and success charts were created and both types were compared. As a result, accuracy and loss graphs of both cancer types were formed. The aim of the study is to compare breast cancer and skin cancer with the deep learning method. And some breast cancer and skin cancer diagnoses are confused. In further studies, the basis of differentiating the diagnosis of these two types of cancer from each other was made in this study.","PeriodicalId":160693,"journal":{"name":"2021 29th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference (SIU)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123173059","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, it is aimed to visualize the inhomogenious distributions within the circle geometry. In this framework, the structure in EIT is handled as solution of forward and inverse problem. The forward problem of EIT is solved with the Finite Element Method (FEM) and necessary scenarios of the visual patterns referring different distribution positions and conductivities are generated for the use of inverse problem. The data set obtained with these scenarios were solved with Gauss-Newton (GN) reconstruction algorithm and selected Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) methods. The reconstruction images obtained by ANN and GN algorithm were compared over error criteria. As a result of this comparison, it has been observed that especially dual inhomogenious distributions in reconstruction phase can be obtained with less error performance with Radial Basis Function Neural Networks (RBFNN).","PeriodicalId":160693,"journal":{"name":"2021 29th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference (SIU)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132305808","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition to the complication of determining the correct diagnosis based on the images, there is the issue of probable violations of biomedical images and altering the images. Among these counterfeits on biomedical images, the most common forgery is copy-move. This forgery refers to the copying and transferring a part of the same image to another part. In this study, to the best of our knowledge, for the first time, a block-based copy-move forgery detection method was proposed using Local Similarity Pattern (LSP) texture extraction on a current biomedical data set.","PeriodicalId":160693,"journal":{"name":"2021 29th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference (SIU)","volume":"79 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114176226","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this work, a similar system is designed with a collimating lens in order to create an extra layer of practical physical security measure. The use of a collimating lens makes it available to spatially limiting data transmission to an area under the lensed transmitter. Also focused data transmission through the optical lens, increases the secrecy rate. To investigate the applicability of the proposed design we designed a sample experimental setup using USRP and implemented in a laboratory environment. In the proposed set up, the receiver is in a fixed position. However, it is possible to implement an easy, practical and cheap hardware solution with respect to a beamforming type VLC that uses directional beam forming method to establish transmission to a dynamic target. In addition, it is achievable to control the size of the area where a receiver can access data by manipulating the distance between the optical lens and transmitter.","PeriodicalId":160693,"journal":{"name":"2021 29th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference (SIU)","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117213387","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is aimed to reduce the use of agricultural chemicals within the scope of sustainable agriculture. For this purpose, it is an important requirement for robots used in agricultural fields to precisely distinguish between crops and weeds. One of the biggest challenges in this regard is the wide variety of plant species. For this reason, the systems to be used in agricultural areas need to cope well with the changes caused by weed and crop varieties. In this study, a examination is made using various unsupervised domain adaptation approaches to tackle the challenge of species diversity in the weed and crop classification task. Thus, it is aimed to measure the generalize the classification process of crop and weed species that have not been seen before.","PeriodicalId":160693,"journal":{"name":"2021 29th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference (SIU)","volume":"76 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114769096","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to create the problem scenario, mathematically modeled gun turret dynamics are applied in a game engine based simulation. Deep Q Learning (DQN) and Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (DDPG) algorithms were applied in the solution of the problem and the reward function was designed iteratively. In order to compare the results, a classical control theory algorithm was developed and the controller responses obtained by providing the same reference signals to these algorithms were compared. Without providing system dynamics information to the relevant learning algorithm, approaching as model-free, the problem of reference attitude tracking of the gun turret was solved under certain assumptions and the results obtained were shown and compared in detail.","PeriodicalId":160693,"journal":{"name":"2021 29th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference (SIU)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115045637","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The limited number of studies in Turkish is due to the compelling morphological structure of Turkish for natural language processing and the limited number of data sets in the medical domain. In addition, the use of domain specific words and abbreviations makes natural language processing studies more challenging. In this study, a classification model is implemented to assign article abstracts to appropriate disease categories using multilingual BERT and BERTurk models on a data set consisting of Turkish medical article abstracts. As a result of the experimental study, 0.82 and 0.93 F-score are obtained for multilingual BERT and BERTurk, respectively. The results show that the BERTurk is more successful than other compared models for Turkish medical text classification.","PeriodicalId":160693,"journal":{"name":"2021 29th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference (SIU)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115472147","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
