This paper presents modeling and simulation of two modes of vibration in the MEMS device through embedded piezoresistors which are arranged in Wheatstone bridge configuration, modeling is extended up to n branches for wide range of applications in MEMS. The comparative analysis of fully and half differential setups even with one variable resistor with balanced form of the two branch bridge is modeled as well as simulated using Multisim8. The sensitivity of the bridge in fully, half and with one variable resistor configuration is found to be 2 μV/mΩ, 1 μV/mΩ and 0.49 μV/mΩ respectively. It is found that fully differential set up is the most sensitive one. This output is amplifiable by using 1000 gain amplifier.","PeriodicalId":160566,"journal":{"name":"2014 5th International Conference on Intelligent and Advanced Systems (ICIAS)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-08-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133621882","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Pre-computed test vectors are applied using the test instructions during normal processor execution. The proposed framework uses the assignment decision diagram (ADD) which represents the structural description of the register transfer level (RTL) circuit to extract the paths. ADD representation and instruction set architecture (ISA) information eliminates the paths that are untestable by the instructions during path extraction. The satisfiability (SAT)-solver is used to generate the sequence from conjunctive normal form (CNF) to find the justification/propagation paths. Test sequence is mapped to ISA to generate the test instruction program. A parwan processor module is used to validate our approach.","PeriodicalId":160566,"journal":{"name":"2014 5th International Conference on Intelligent and Advanced Systems (ICIAS)","volume":"7 27","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120935617","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The fast growing rate of the usage of large-scale computing machines on cloud platform has resulted in increased consumption of energy and emission of carbon. Such negative effects should be curbed for a more environmental-friendly computing platform, e.g. a green cloud computing platform. Scheduling is one of the aspects that can be looked into in regards to the improvement of the whole cloud architecture, specifically in the scope of resource management. One of the important features that need to be optimized in regards to scheduling is the load balancing process that emphasizes on optimal resource utilization, maximum throughput, maximum response time and prevention of overload. One way to optimize the load balancing process is by implementing the migration of virtual machines across multiple hosts, in which utilization of CPU resources can be optimized. The appropriate use of two different classes of resources e.g. low-powered and high-powered machines based on their Million Instructions Per Second (MIPS) metrics, will lead to minimal process execution time if both types of resources are being efficiently used and effectively mapped to suitable types of processing. According to different machine performance, the migration of virtual machines will be computed based on the current CPU utilization following three different conditions, i.e. when the CPU usage reaches its 90%, 10% and 0% marker. Based on this idea, a general algorithm in activating the virtual machine migration is proposed, in which the overall load balancing process could be improved.","PeriodicalId":160566,"journal":{"name":"2014 5th International Conference on Intelligent and Advanced Systems (ICIAS)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125296024","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a result, harmonic pollution becomes a vital problem than before. Harmonics rotate in the power system network and interfere with the system equipments, disturbing their normal operation which can deteriorate the quality of the delivered power. Therefore, efficient method with low computational time is a critical tool to estimate and quantify the harmonic that can be used in online control and mitigation of harmonics. Least Mean Square (LMS) is simple and popular algorithm that has been applied in many applications, but, noise can affect its performance. This paper presents and compare the performance of Least Mean Square (LMS), Least Mean Fourth (LMF) and a combined (LMS/LMF) in estimation harmonic component for the signal corrupted with noise contain low signal to noise ratio (SNR). Moreover, the DC motor drive systems are usually an object for deploying the novel control algorithms. This paper presents a speed-sensorless control system for a separately-excited DC motor. In particular, an adaptive observer is developed to estimate the actual speed of the motor. In addition, instead of using a traditional linear PI controller like previous researches, a Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) has been proposed to significantly improve the performance of the motor. The simulation results using Matlab/Simulink software show that the FLC-based speed control system outperforms the linear PI-based speed control system in terms of the technical criteria: significantly reducing the overshoot and shortening the settling time of the speed response of the motor.","PeriodicalId":160566,"journal":{"name":"2014 5th International Conference on Intelligent and Advanced Systems (ICIAS)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124299802","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As computational modeling needs vast of simulation time, a real-time hardware implementation using FPGA could be the solution as it provides high configurability and performance. For rapid prototyping, MATLAB Simulink that offers a link with the FPGA has been used. Through Simulink HDL Coder, a tool in the MATLAB software that capable to convert the MATLAB Simulink blocks into hardware description language (HDL) code and an FPGA-in-the-loop (FIL) and co-simulation for verification, FPGA hardware implementation can be done. As a result, the LR-I excitation model is successfully simulated by using the MATLAB Simulink and the VHDL code has been successfully generated by the HDL Coder after fixed-point optimization is done. The FIL verification on actual FPGA board also has shown quantitatively comparable results to the MATLAB Simulink simulation. Therefore, the design flow has given a positive outlook in developing this FPGA stand-alone implementation.","PeriodicalId":160566,"journal":{"name":"2014 5th International Conference on Intelligent and Advanced Systems (ICIAS)","volume":"549 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127666455","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One application of this technique is to accurately estimate the amplitude-normalized CAP waveform from radial PPG, with the possibility of determination of important vascular indices. The ETS has not only provided a safe, fast and cost effective way to travel between these two cities, but has also spurred the economic activities of the major towns between them. However, the lack of an effective feeder bus system that brings commuters to the ETS stations remains a significant problem. The objective of this paper is to design a wide coverage feeder bus route that is also effective and efficient in terms of service. Specifically, genetic algorithm has been used to optimize the feeder bus route. The optimization is performed to attain the widest service coverage, lowest operation cost, shortest total travel time, shortest total travel distance and to meet the highest demand. As a test case, the Batu Gajah, Perak ETS station has been used. Simulation results show that solving the route optimization problem can produce a wide coverage route with high effectiveness and efficiency in service.","PeriodicalId":160566,"journal":{"name":"2014 5th International Conference on Intelligent and Advanced Systems (ICIAS)","volume":"98 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134365133","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Ultrasound is continuously promoted by physicians and radiologist because of its features such as use of non-ionizing radiations, non-invasive nature, real time diagnosis, portability, over existing imaging modalities such as Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and Computed tomography (CT). Despite many advantages, images obtained from ultrasound equipment suffer from loss of resolution and contrast. In this paper, contrast enhancement of ultrasound image is performed using adaptive statistical method and comparison with original ultrasound image was performed. The quantitative analysis was performed based on three different measurement indices. The measurement indices used to evaluate the performance of contrast enhancement images are universal quality index (UQI), structural similarity index (SSI) and signal to noise ratio (SNR). The ultrasound enhanced and original images are shown for visual references. The quantitative comparison suggests gamma correction to perform best among the chosen methods. The analysis was performed based on real dataset collected from University Malaya Medical Center on patients suffering from MSK disorder in shoulder. Total of 37 images from 23 patients were evaluated to verify the study. Later, several dataset from patients will be collected and qualitative assessment of images will be performed to validate the study for all images.","PeriodicalId":160566,"journal":{"name":"2014 5th International Conference on Intelligent and Advanced Systems (ICIAS)","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133617359","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
