The research method used is a survey. Data was collected using observation, questionnaires, interviews and documentation techniques. Data were analyzed using descriptive-quantitative statistics. The results of the study show that the collaborative-partnership pattern that is cultivated and developed in good public health center governance in Wajo Regency is based on the principles of openness, equality and benefit. The pattern of collaborative partnerships between actors or stakeholders is developed from a basic philosophy of institutional building and capacity building programs in applying the principles of good governance, also based on the re-actualization of the local cultural values of the Bugis-Wajo community. The principle is \"PUSKESMAS-based management\" and \"citizen-based PUSKESMAS\" in the context of community health learning.","PeriodicalId":160212,"journal":{"name":"Social Sciences Education eJournal","volume":"561 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132703866","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among them, reforms to improve the standards and quality of higher education. The sector faces multiple challenges; lack of adequate resources, a mismatch between industry needs and graduate skills, budget shortfalls and massive universities expansions. These challenges hurt the quality and relevance of higher education. In order to propose solutions, two key issues were discussed: financial sustainability and quality/relevance of higher education. The paper collected secondary data and government reports and using a critical review, it analyzed the role of financial sustainability, quality, and relevance in improving higher education in Kenya. The paper concludes with policy recommendations on higher education reforms, options, and developments, all aimed at bolstering quality education in Kenya.","PeriodicalId":160212,"journal":{"name":"Social Sciences Education eJournal","volume":"124 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133104917","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The involvement of religious motivation is expected to be a deterrent variable in suppressing the influence of opportunity on the practice of academic cheating among accounting students. This research was conducted on 235 samples of accounting students registered in the Bogor, West Java, Indonesia. By using quantitative descriptive methods, this study successfully revealed the role of spiritual motivation in the relationship between opportunity and academic cheating. Following the diamond fraud theory, this study revealed the positive influence of opportunity variables on the practice of academic fraud among accounting students. The existence of spiritual motivation is proven to reduce the correlation coefficient between opportunity and academic cheating. This study requires experimental social research on the object of research, namely accounting students, to see the practice of treating the variables studied.","PeriodicalId":160212,"journal":{"name":"Social Sciences Education eJournal","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133111777","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

More specifically, we leverage the award-winning tax case of Borthick and Smeal (2017) to illustrate the teaching of the Cross Industry Standard Process for Data Mining (CRISP-DM) with R. Teaching the implementation of the data analytics process highlights the role and importance of each one of the stages (i.e., business understanding, data understanding, data preparation, modeling, evaluation, and communication). Implementing CRISP-DM in conjunction with R helps students gain a better understanding of data limitations (e.g., missing values, incomplete data, errors in data) and their implications in the context of the case, while providing a readily available record of all steps taken in a data analytics process (i.e., process documentation).","PeriodicalId":160212,"journal":{"name":"Social Sciences Education eJournal","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127268120","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Real property leasing is familiar in the context of residential tenancies. But it is also widely used in commercial contexts, including office buildings and shopping centers. Personal property leasing, which was rarely encountered before World War II, has more recently exploded on a world-wide basis, with everything from autos to farm equipment to airplanes being leased. This article seeks to develop a composite picture of the defining features of leases and why leasing is such a widespread and highly successful economic institution. The reasons fall under three general headings. (i) Leasing is an attractive method of financing the acquisition of assets, especially for persons who have limited capital or would like to conserve their capital and cash flows for other purposes. (ii) Leasing is a device for minimizing the risks that either lessees or lessors associate with owning assets; although leasing also creates risks, various lease modifications have been developed to manage these derivative risks. (iii) By dividing the rights to an asset between lessor and lessee, leasing permits the parties to specialize in different functions and to solve various impediments to contracting that would be difficult to overcome among separate owners. Understanding the economic advantages of leasing is an important first step in considering possible legal reforms of leasing.","PeriodicalId":160212,"journal":{"name":"Social Sciences Education eJournal","volume":"43 8","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132654212","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Morgan","doi":"10.2139/ssrn.3498948","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.2139/ssrn.3498948","url":null,"abstract":"Abstract This brief paper sets out an underappreciated practically oriented paradox and its methodological implications. The paradox is highly relevant to central banks and any organization or agent that seeks to match or anticipate central bank policy, such as other actors in banking and finance. Specifically, there is a divergence between the statistical requirement of stationarity and any macroeconomic policy objective that involves a target that takes a consistent and positive value. This is not merely an esoteric issue of interest to statisticians. It has fundamental implications for policy contexts. When achieved, any policy target, such as inflation targeting, will necessarily result in a unit root. As such, an unintended consequence of successful policy is non-stationarity, which means policy is permanently seeking to actualise conditions that are at cross-purposes with typical analytical statistical requirements. The point and its significance are illustrated beginning with a simple AR model and artificial inflation dataset.","PeriodicalId":160212,"journal":{"name":"Social Sciences Education eJournal","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130224140","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

I combine ten years of administrative records on higher education enrollment and graduation in Chile and exploit the fact that access to state loans for technical schools is a discontinuous function of a student’s GPA. Results show a small effect of loan access on higher education choices in the extensive and intensive margins. Still, loans help alleviate financial burdens. They allow students to enroll in higher education sooner, they increase the probability of enrolling full-time, and decrease the probability of taking a gap year while studying. Nevertheless, and despite these positive effects, I cannot discard a null effect on persistence rates. Results highlight that increasing higher education completion rates may require more than just relaxing credit constraints.","PeriodicalId":160212,"journal":{"name":"Social Sciences Education eJournal","volume":"107 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122594334","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Oddly, later on in the same book they themselves fall in the very trap of such confusion. The so-called Giffen good and backward-bending labor supply should, if ever, be explained as a shift in the relevant curve rather than backward-bending in the market model. Even more oddly, such popular mistakes are caused by forgetting the elementary fact that every scientific model has its own assumptions that are often invalidated in other models. The assumptions for the production possibility frontiers and the indifference curves, which are the mothers of the backward bending curves, are completely different from those in the market model. Therefore, such curves are merely outcomes of fallacy of composition, namely, the mistake of explaining micro-events using macro-models.","PeriodicalId":160212,"journal":{"name":"Social Sciences Education eJournal","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131987199","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The discourse was for the purpose of drawing lessons learned from the attacks. The paper employed a desk-review research approach and the reports and evaluations obtained from secondary sources of data were analyzed through content analysis. By adopting ideological perspective and human security concept as theoretical framework for analysis, the paper explained the reasons for the attack. The paper found that the use of asymmetric warfare tactics adopted by Boko Haram insurgent group and their coordinated attacks resulted to huge casualties beyond the expectations of the State and most especially in the educational sector. To reverse the trend, the paper concluded that government and relevant stakeholders must realize that safety from attacks and development of education in Nigeria are dependent on the collective efforts of the various stakeholders in supporting safe school initiatives directed towards providing conducive and safe environment for our educational institutions and also rebuilding schools that have been attacked. This can be achieved through effective collaboration of all critical stakeholders towards addressing the underlying factors that led to the onslaught orchestrated by the Boko Haram insurgent group and other armed criminal groups.","PeriodicalId":160212,"journal":{"name":"Social Sciences Education eJournal","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129161994","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
