In the method, by using repeated simple calculations based on the Akamatsu transform, an out-of-focus blurred image can be restored and sharpened. Out of focus is a major problem bothering many people in photography, especially the amateurs. There exits some solution to this problem on both the hardware and software sides. However, none offers a perfect solution. The Akamatsu transform can easily be embedded into hardware to offer faster processing due to its simplicity. Although, initially proposed for speech processing, this paper show the effectiveness of the transform in image processing. The Akamatsu transform is a combination of integral and differential transforms. The algorithm can be effective tools for image restoration in realtime image processing.","PeriodicalId":160078,"journal":{"name":"2009 35th Annual Conference of IEEE Industrial Electronics","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133383667","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It enables human operators to feel as if they were really touching the environment. Teleopertion with the bilateral control has a wide range of application such as telesurgery, deep-sea operation, space mission, etc. However, the presence of the communication delay between master and slave systems degrades performance and stability. There are two representative conventional methods based on acceleration control. One is 4ch bilateral control and the other is 3ch bilateral control. In 4ch bilateral control system, an operator is able to feel the hard environment, but the operator feel the large operational force. On the other hand, in 3ch bilateral control system, little operational force is generated, but stable contact can not be achieved. This paper proposes a novel bilateral control using the estimated environmental stiffness as the master position gain. The proposed method enables the operator to feel the hard environment with little operational force. The validity of the proposed control system is confirmed by analyses and experiments.","PeriodicalId":160078,"journal":{"name":"2009 35th Annual Conference of IEEE Industrial Electronics","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121890080","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed system consists of environment saving system and environment loading system. The environment saving system stores haptic information of the environment to a environment data memory. On the other hand, the environment loading system reproduces the environmental haptic sensation using the environment data memory, and stimulates the human operator. The environment copying system proposed in this paper realizes storage and reproduction of real world haptic information without environmental mathematical model. By the experiments, the validity of the proposed method is confirmed. However, EMG is usually measured from a part with comparatively big muscular fibers such as arms and shoulders. Therefore, if we can recognize wrist motions using EMG which was measured from the wrist, the range of application will extend furthermore. Moreover, it is predicted that convenience in putting on and taking off the electrode improves. Therefore, we focus on EMG measured from the wrist. In this paper, we aim the construction of wrist EMG recognition system by using fast statistical method and neural network.","PeriodicalId":160078,"journal":{"name":"2009 35th Annual Conference of IEEE Industrial Electronics","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129225701","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Four channel wave transmission structure provides direct force and velocity feedbacks to each robot by asymmetric damping. Wave data is decomposed into acceleration terms and employed in acceleration control with scaling of both of the force and position-based acceleration dimensions. Neither in wave space nor in control space, perception-bandwidth-limiting filters are not used. The acceleration control-based bilateral control method with modal decomposition can divide complicated human motion into the independent motion elements. Since it can transmit vivid force sensation from the real environment, precise environmental information can be abstracted as well. This paper presents a novel concept of modal motion stiffness. The modal motion stiffness expresses stiffness in each independent motion element which is called as a mode. Then, the identification of contact constraint can be realized from the proposed modal motion stiffness. The experimental results are shown in this paper in order to confirm the validity of the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":160078,"journal":{"name":"2009 35th Annual Conference of IEEE Industrial Electronics","volume":"81 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121682064","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the haptic communication system, the FPGA is used as a motion control processor, and the Linux-based real-time network framework is applied to the communication line between a master and a slave robot. The FPGA can execute control calculations in a short interval. Sending a large number of packets in a short period is, however, not acceptable for the communication line. In the haptic communication system, the FPGA execute the control calculation in every 50 µs, and the packets are sent in every 1 ms to prevent network congestion. The degrees-of-freedom(DOF) of the haptic device can be increased without increasing the number of sending packets, since the data of the each DOF is packed into one packet in a Linux module. In this paper, a master-slave haptic communication system is developed. The master side consists of a haptic device, whereas the slave side consists of a virtual haptic device and a virtual environment. The validity of the haptic communication system is shown through an experiment.","PeriodicalId":160078,"journal":{"name":"2009 35th Annual Conference of IEEE Industrial Electronics","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124736018","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the controller design, dual disturbance observers with respect to two operation modes, namely the common mode and the differential mode are designed and applied for controlling wire rope tension and interaction force of human. The variable wire rope tension algorithm is proposed to change the mechanical bandwidth according to motion movements. The advantage points of the high mechanical bandwidth and low stiffness transmission are combined together. From the experimental results, the variable wire rope tension control is combined to give the best results on an experimental setup, for the rejection of the vibration effects and for the smooth interaction force.","PeriodicalId":160078,"journal":{"name":"2009 35th Annual Conference of IEEE Industrial Electronics","volume":"76 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132841395","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Large area shadows are relatively easy to detect due to the eminent power reduction and decrease of fill factor. However, small area partial shadows in a larger system do not have a very obvious effect on the output power or fill factor of the PV array and can remain undetected, leading to failure. In this paper a method for detecting small area partial shadows, based on equivalent thermal voltage, is presented. A simplified expression of the equivalent thermal voltage is proposed, which increases the robustness against measurement errors and model limitations at low irradiation conditions. Experimental results confirm the high sensitivity of the method even to a relatively small area shadow, while showing very good robustness against increase in series resistance.","PeriodicalId":160078,"journal":{"name":"2009 35th Annual Conference of IEEE Industrial Electronics","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129884823","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Electric vehicles are expected to be alternative to the conventional gasoline engine vehicles and many researchers have studied motion control of electric vehicle. In this paper, to assist the vehicle driver using an accelerator pedal and a steering wheel is considered. In addition to steer-by-wire system, haptic pedal system which uses a motor set in an accelerator pedal is proposed as an interface between a vehicle driver and driving environment. Using these systems, a method how to control the reaction force on the accelerator pedal and the steering wheel for vehicle stability is proposed. Moreover an observer which estimates the tire-road friction forces is proposed to achieve the control. The stabilization control of the vehicle is performed as the system which included the operation of the vehicle driver. Simulation results are shown to verify the effect of the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":160078,"journal":{"name":"2009 35th Annual Conference of IEEE Industrial Electronics","volume":"81 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122636338","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
