TV based on denoising is extremely effective for recovering \"blocky\", possibly discontinuous, functions from noisy data. It is necessary to solve a minimization problem, which results in a nonlinear integro-differential equation of elliptic type. An efficient numerical scheme for solving such an equation is essential. In this paper, the TV denoising energy function is simplified according to the piecewise characteristic which the denoised results reveal. Then the energy is decreased by \"region merging\" to get a local minimum, which is an estimate of the global minimum. Experimental examples for image denoising are illustrated to show the effectiveness of the method in not only denoising but also segmentation with computational complexity of O(n log n).","PeriodicalId":159807,"journal":{"name":"6th International Conference on Signal Processing, 2002.","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2002-08-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130929121","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Digit dialing requires speaker-independent speech recognition technology. The paper introduces a 16-bit fixed-point DSP based Mandarin digit recognition system based on discrete HMM, and discriminative training for the parameters. The parameters of the DHMM are reduced and only the truncated output probability matrices are used. A minimum classification error rate method is used to adjust the matrices discriminatively to improve the recognition accuracy further. In an experiment, a 14.4% error rate reduction is achieved.","PeriodicalId":159807,"journal":{"name":"6th International Conference on Signal Processing, 2002.","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2002-08-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132138856","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We have taken a few words with similar, partially similar, and dissimilar characteristics in their nature of utterance from Assamese and Boro. The spectral analysis revels that both the languages have a high degree of similarity at both voiced and unvoiced regions for words with the same meaning. LPC modeling of the random selection of similar, partially similar and dissimilar phonemes may not provide characteristic features of the two languages, but cepstral coefficient analysis of the LPC modeling may provide important information in studying the linguistic and phonetic distinction of the two languages and, finally, speaker identification and word verification.","PeriodicalId":159807,"journal":{"name":"6th International Conference on Signal Processing, 2002.","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2002-08-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127244345","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
