The proposed approach consists of the following three major steps: (i) the feature extraction step employs a 2D log-Gabor filter bank where the final feature map is composed using the bitwise competitive coding, (ii) the matching step uses the normalized bitwise Hamming distance to capture efficiently the similarities between feature maps, and (iii) in the decision step, the feature maps are fused to get a final score through a novel feature fusion technique allowing to eliminate the inherent redundancy of the features of neighboring spectral bands. The experiment carried out on the multi-spectral palmprint MS-PolyU database have shown that the proposed method outperforms to the state-of-the-art methods for the verification and identification modes.","PeriodicalId":159773,"journal":{"name":"2016 39th International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP)","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131886035","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Several new extensions of LBP-based texture descriptors have been proposed, focusing on improving robustness to noise by using different encoding or thresholding schemes. In this paper, a new feature set inspired by the completed local binary pattern (CLBP), known as the dynamic threshold CLBP (dTCLBP) is proposed for FKP recognition. The dTCLBP technique employs only sign and magnitude components, where the sign component is the same as the original LBP. We suggest encoding magnitude features by means of the dynamic threshold to concatenate the sign and magnitude features. The classification of this new proposed feature is performed by applying principal components analysis and linear discriminant analysis. Experiments conducted on a challenging PolyU FKP database validate its effectiveness. The results obtained indicate that the proposed technique performs well when compared to other state-of-the-art methods.","PeriodicalId":159773,"journal":{"name":"2016 39th International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP)","volume":"103 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115072416","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The challenge of model-free based gait recognition is to cope with various intra-class variations such as clothing variations and carrying conditions that adversely affect the recognition performances. This paper proposes a novel method which combines Statistical Dependency (SD) feature selection with Globality-Locality Preserving Projections (GLPP) to alleviate the impact of intra-class variations so as to improve the recognition performances. The proposed method has been evaluated using CASIA Gait database (Dataset B) under variations of clothing and carrying conditions. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves a Correct Classification Rate (CCR) up to 86% when compared to existing state-of-the-art methods.","PeriodicalId":159773,"journal":{"name":"2016 39th International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131678836","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The principle of the suggested approach is based on the use of feature texture descriptors extracted from Gait Energy Image (GEI). The proposed features are computed using the bank of Gabor filters and then selected using Spectral Regression Kernel Discriminant Analysis (SRKDA) reduction algorithm. The proposed method is evaluated on CASIA Gait database (dataset B) under variations of clothing and carrying conditions for different viewing angles; and the experimental results using one-against-all SVM classifier have given attractive results of up to 91% in terms of Correct Classification Rate (CCR) when compared to existing and similar state-of-the-art methods.","PeriodicalId":159773,"journal":{"name":"2016 39th International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP)","volume":"4619 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127590232","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Traditional geo-positioning methods have been characterized by detection and mitigation of NLOS paths where discrimination between LOS and NLOS components are cast into a hypothesis-testing problem. This explains the focus of most related works on range measurements. It is however believed that Ultrawideband (UWB) promises better positioning methods for accuracy-critical situations expected in 5G setting. This paper outlines probable 5G wireless architecture as a road map to UWB in future wireless environments. It also proposes EULOSTECH; an algorithm for enhanced UWB LOS sufficiency positioning technique and mitigation method for cognitive 5G wireless setting. Results obtained from simulation experiments have been impressive and the highlights are presented in this paper. It is believed that the proposed solution has potential for robust and cost efficient localization in 5G setting as well as prospect to decongest licensed spectrums in 5G wireless environment with UWB.","PeriodicalId":159773,"journal":{"name":"2016 39th International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP)","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126959022","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Information of electroencephalogram (EEG) signals defer between subjects depending on their thoughts according to research. In this paper, a comparison between different types of features tested by several classifiers is done to propose a model for classifying multi motor imagery (MI) tasks through offline analysis for a single subject performing one session daily for a week. Several classifiers and feature extraction techniques were used. Common Spatial Pattern (CSP) as a feature classified by Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) was found to outperform all other combinations with an average classification accuracy above 88%.","PeriodicalId":159773,"journal":{"name":"2016 39th International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115577610","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, in praxis they depend on various aspects like radio signal coverage, number of connected users or moving speed of the terminal equipment. In this paper we present results of measurements conducted in Vienna, Austria. They were conducted for activities of AEROCEPTOR project funded by EU 7th Framework Program. An in-house developed tool called NetPerf as well as custom in-house designed hardware modules were used for one-way delay measurements and obtaining precise time from GPS source. The results can be potentially used for Unmanned Group Vehicles (UGV data link design. These UVG devices should support missions ranging from surveillance to detection of environmental pollution incidents, and including early identification and tracking of illegal activities like smuggling or trafficking.","PeriodicalId":159773,"journal":{"name":"2016 39th International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP)","volume":"192 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114860600","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed structure combines the advantages of wide input swing, wide output swing, large output impedance, low input impedance and high linearity altogether, which make it attractive for high performance low-voltage and low power applications. Pspice simulations show a very low THD of -42.2dB from a single 0.9V supply in 0.18μm, input impedance of 239Ω, output impedance of 1.2MΩ and power dissipation of only 180μW. As data theft cases are increasing the need of securing biometric data is a major concern. This paper presents an efficient and lossless encryption scheme based on transformation and chaotic domain to achieve high level of data confidentiality and security. Unlike conventional methods, the proposed scheme uses the substitution and permutation in reverse order using different domains to provide adequate security level. Experimental results shows that proposed method reduces the peak signal to noise ratio significantly making the proposed algorithm resistant to perceptual attacks. Also an increased key space is achieved due to the use of transformation domain in conjunction with spatial domain. Experimental results also show that proposed method is highly resistant to statistical and crypt analytical attacks which make it suitable for real time applications.","PeriodicalId":159773,"journal":{"name":"2016 39th International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133297727","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
