The characteristics of MEMS micromotor are analyzed and modeled using a 3-D magnetic equivalent circuit (MEC) taking the leakage fluxes and fringing effect into account. Such methodology yields more accurate prediction of the flux distribution inside the machine, back electromotive force (EMF) waveform and the torque. The key point of the analytical model is to compute the magnetic flux density in the air gap generated by the permanent magnet. An accurate prediction method of the leakage fluxes based on an improved pigeon-inspired optimization (PIO) algorithm is proposed in this paper. The feasibility of the proposed method is validated by the 3-D finite element analysis (FEA). Finally, the method is applied to design and manufacture the micromotor.","PeriodicalId":159493,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Applied Superconductivity and Electromagnetic Devices (ASEMD)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114993328","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The pulse tube (PT) cryocoolers have achieved great application for its advantage of no moving parts in the cold end, high reliability, low vibration and noise. In our study, a two-stage PT cryocooler is employed to provide the cooling power for a nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) superconducting magnet cryostat. In our tests, it has been shown that the superconducting magnet cryostat can realize a zero liquid helium boil-off during static operation. To obtain the liquid helium boil-off losses when the cryocooler is stopped, the cryocooler is shut down for seven hours continuously. The liquid helium evaporation rate test results show that the volume of liquid helium decreases from 63.6% to 56.3%, and the liquid helium evaporation rate is 0.83 L/h approximately. Based on the test results, the liquid helium will wholly evaporate in several days for similar superconducting magnet system even when the liquid helium cryostat is refilled.","PeriodicalId":159493,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Applied Superconductivity and Electromagnetic Devices (ASEMD)","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125939169","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, pulse magnetizing process of sintered NdFeB magnet has been studied. Combining with calculated electromagnetic field distribution by Maxwell 3D FEM software, critical magnetic field to saturate the sintered NdFeB magnet is determined through experiment. Preliminary result shows that pulse magnetic field needed to saturate NdFeB magnet has something to do with its historic magnetization process. Furthermore, once the saturated NdFeB magnet is demagnetized, it will be much harder to resaturate the NdFeB than initial saturation.","PeriodicalId":159493,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Applied Superconductivity and Electromagnetic Devices (ASEMD)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115259245","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since one tape was in the magnetic field which was induced by another tape, the different tape arrangements and gaps between the tapes could influence magnetic field so that AC losses were also influenced. Via the 2 two-dimensional models' establishment, calculation, simulation and analysis, the changes in the AC losses with the gaps could well be understood. Besides, we have established the experimental platform to measure AC losses and the results of the theoretical models' simulation and experimental measurements extremely matched the theoretical results.","PeriodicalId":159493,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE International Conference on Applied Superconductivity and Electromagnetic Devices (ASEMD)","volume":"111 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116575977","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
