Early intervention of CKD can prevent or slow kidney disease progression and improve health status and Quality of Life (QOL) of CKD patients with peritoneal dialysis (PD). Method : This quasi-experimental study aimed to examine the effectiveness of the Community Health Nurse Telehealth Care (CHNTC) Program on self-management and QOL among persons with peritoneal dialysis. The samples consisted of 52 Chronic Kidney Disease patients with PD. They were assigned to experimental and comparison groups, with 26 persons in each group. The experimental group received the twelve-weeks CHNTC program and the comparison group received usual care. Data were obtained using three questionnaires including a demographic characteristics and health information questionnaire, the PD Self e Management Scale, and the Kidney Disease QOL Short Form. Descriptive statistics and t-tests were used to analyze data. Results : The experimental group showed signi fi cant improvement in overall self-management and in all its subscales after receiving the CHNTC program. Results also showed signi fi cant improvement in several domains of QOL. After completing the CHNTC program, signi fi cantly greater improvements in self-management and QOL regarding effect of KD and burden of KD were noted among participants in the experimental group compared to those in the comparison group. Conclusion : The fi ndings suggested the effectiveness of the CHNTC program for improving self-management of PD patients, thus enhancing patients ’ QOL.","PeriodicalId":15935,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Health Research","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.7,"publicationDate":"2023-06-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44884044","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study examined the in fl uence of parental background on the experience of IPV by young women in Ibadan, Nigeria. Method : A cross-sectional survey was conducted in the fi ve Local Government Areas of Ibadan metropolis. One thousand and fi fty young women aged between 18 and 24 years were selected using a multistage sampling method to participate in the study. Data was collected using a 28-item semi-structured questionnaire. The independent variables were the parents ' education, marital status, occupation, and mother ' s experience of victimization. The dependent variable was previous experience of physical, sexual, and psychological IPV. A Chi-square test and binary logistic regression were used to test for association. The level of signi fi cance was set at 5%. Results : The majority of young women had experienced psychological IPV (55.0%). Two-thirds of fathers (61.4%) and mothers (62.5%) had completed at least secondary education. More than half (59.4%) of the parents were married. Par-ents ' marital status was signi fi cantly associated with experience of sexual and psychological IPV. While the father ' s employment signi fi cantly increased experience of sexual IPV, the mother ' s employment reduced experience of sexual IPV. Abuse of respondent ' s mothers increased experience of psychological IPV. Conclusion : This study has provided information that parental characteristics such as father ' s employment and mother ' s experience of abuse have a signi fi cant in fl uence on a young woman ' s experience of IPV. Thus, intervention programs among young women should include parents.","PeriodicalId":15935,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Health Research","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.7,"publicationDate":"2023-06-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49196332","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aimed to address problems arising from the Thai SLP operation, prioritize problems, and devise strategies to help resolve those issues under the SLP. Method: School principals and educational service area staff are key persons in school lunch management. Sixty participants from 30 schools across Thailand were invited and divided into 6 groups. They were asked to discuss problems and obstacles in the program implementation. Strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) analysis was used to analyze data from brainstorming activities. Results: SWOT analysis showed six strengths, seven opportunities, eight weaknesses, and six threats. Eleven strategies were formulated and presented in the TOWS matrix. One proactive strategy was to maintain good network partners between schools and communities. A corrective strategy also showed creating a network between schools, communities, and temples to ask for food donations to alleviate the problem of delayed and insufficient budgets. A school or district level nutritionist to reduce teachers’ workload was proposed. Conclusion: The study created a variety of strategies that are required to solve operating problems and improve the quality of the SLP. Methods : A cross-sectional study was conducted from April to May 2020 in Depok, Indonesia. A total of 433 high school students in grades 10 e 12 were recruited. Food choice motivations were identi fi ed using a questionnaire, and de fi ned using exploratory factor analysis. Possible factors associated with motivations were evaluated using multiple linear regression. Results : Five food choice motivations were identi fi ed and classed as: F1, health and religion; F2, price and convenience; F3, comfort; F4, weight control; and F5, familiarity. Being physically active was positively associated with F1 ( b ¼ 0.234, P < 0.001) and F4 ( b ¼ 0.284, P < 0.001). Negative associations were observed between F4 and wishing to be fatter ( b ¼ ¡ 0.202, P ¼ 0.05) as well as between F5 and having less knowledge about nutrition ( b ¼ ¡ 0.006, P ¼ 0.04). F2 ( b ¼ 0.042, P ¼ 0.004) and F3 ( b ¼ 0.040, P ¼ 0.02) were positively associated with frequent access to media. In this participatory action research (PAR) study, we created a multidisciplinary care model (MCM) for heart failure clinic at a hospital in Bangkok, Thailand, and evaluated quality performance measures and clinical outcomes. Methods : Using the PAR framework, this study included: 1) identi fi cation of problems and planning solutions with providers, 2) development of the MCM, 3) implementation of the MCM, 4) evaluation of quality process and outcome measures among heart failure patients at the follow-up conducted 6 months after implementation of the MCM, and 5) post-MCM survey. Results : Information management of patient data, redundant work and communication, and ineffective work fl ow were the main problems identi fi ed. Providers suggested initiating a patient database, modifying the electronic health records, and developing an institutional map for heart failure care. Outcome measures were studied among 100 patients (mean age ¼ 61.92 years, SD ¼ 15.75; mean left ventricular ejection fraction ¼ 31.15%, SD ¼ 7.89). The mean guideline adherence indicator increased signi fi cantly (p ¼ 0.007) from baseline (87.50 ± 22.14%) to follow-up (94.50 ± 15.54%). At follow-up, there was a signi fi cant reduction for risk of heart failure hospitalization (RR: 0.761, 95% CI: 0.652 to 0.889). Most study participants agreed that all MCM components could solve existing problems with heart failure care. Conclusion : The PAR strategy used to develop the MCM for this heart failure clinic with limited resources was feasible and led to quality-of-care improvements.","PeriodicalId":15935,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Health Research","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.7,"publicationDate":"2023-03-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44148552","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
