Usage patterns and Use Cases definitions help in defining VAS, but a way to assure that new services reach the required goals with proper qualitative and quantitative properties has to be provided in order to validate design and implementation of composite services. In this paper the MetaMORP(h)OSY methodology and framework are introduced. The methodology uses Model Driven Engineering and Model Transformation techniques to analyze composite services. Due to the complexity of the systems to analyze, MetaMORP(h)OSY exploits Multi Agent System (MAS) in system definition. The methodology is used in order to define a model for a Use Case of the mosaic project.","PeriodicalId":158978,"journal":{"name":"2012 Sixth International Conference on Complex, Intelligent, and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129470433","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this work we propose \"'CloSe\"', a cloud system for document composition, which offers editing/composing aiding services by exploiting semantic based technology. Close is the evolution, in cloud technology, of a monolithic system architecture for document processing, based on semantic methodologies, that we have developed in the past years. We intend to migrate our system procedures to the Internet Cloud technology that guarantees several advantages in terms of usability, scalability and fault tolerance. The proposed system will help the users in the process of writing documents, exploiting information and data contained in apposite document bases, collected from heterogeneous sources, in order to suggest proper fragments to be inserted into the document. We have produced a system prototype that realizes semantic retrieval functionalities, in order to assist the specialist and generic user in the document composition aiding activities. Moreover we have reported some experimental results that we have carried out for evaluating the impact of the system on enhancing user effort in composing documents by suggesting appropriate document segments, which encouraged us to extend the system in the cloud.","PeriodicalId":158978,"journal":{"name":"2012 Sixth International Conference on Complex, Intelligent, and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127506215","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Vehicular Ad-hoc networks (VANETs) are expected to be massively deployed in upcoming vehicles, because their use can improve the road safety and comfort. The effective implementation of vehicular communication could improve traffic management system. This effectiveness could be achieved by designing and implementing efficient vehicular network protocols. In this paper, we have implemented two routing protocols: DSR and DYMO and investigated the performance of these routing protocols using PDR and good put metrics. The simulation results shows that DYMO protocol performs better than DSR protocol.","PeriodicalId":158978,"journal":{"name":"2012 Sixth International Conference on Complex, Intelligent, and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130542094","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such technologies focused essentially on the structured data. In particular Data Warehousing systems represent the decision support systems on which academia and industry focused their attention. It is believed that \"about 80% of the information of any organization is contained in unstructured and semi-structured documents\"[1], so limiting the analysis to only the structured data, as it has been done so far, is likely to lose a high percentage of potentially useful knowledge. Since text is the primary mean to disseminate information and knowledge, it is necessary to introduce concepts related to text-oriented Business Intelligent and Document Warehousing systems, which could have many useful applications in industries or large domains. In this paper we present a prototype application of a Document Warehousing system, highlighting challenges and solutions for each phase of its lifecycle. The prototype is related to Security and Prevention domain and it is built with a set of open-source tools whose features and limitations are highlighted. As we currently know, organization and setting of the fundamental elements of a Document Warehouse system lifecycle, are issues which have not been deepened yet. Furthermore until now, we have not find an application of Document Warehousing, which has been implemented integrating the open-source tools which we use to implement our prototype yet.","PeriodicalId":158978,"journal":{"name":"2012 Sixth International Conference on Complex, Intelligent, and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"429 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132199304","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Because general patients cannot understand medical images alone, the technology assists them to intuitively understand the images and easily communicate with doctors. We propose a tangible medical image processing assistant with haptic modality. Our main goal is to construct a method allowing users to easily interacting and exploring medical images with haptic modality. Diagnostic imaging with a series of CT scan images is very important way for doctors to detect problems. Because the doctors need to view a huge number of high resolution images in a day, excessive burdens on their vision become a very serious problem. We propose a new method of assisting the diagnostic imaging with integrated visual and haptic channels. The proposed method extracts some visual features observed in the images and transforms to haptic parameters. Then, the system visually and haptically notifies the doctors for possible existence of suspicious findings in the images. It calls their attention to focus on the specific images to narrow the differential diagnosis of the images.","PeriodicalId":158978,"journal":{"name":"2012 Sixth International Conference on Complex, Intelligent, and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126318592","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is important for students to operate network devices repeatedly to learn network skills. However, in practical learning with real network devices, students need a number of network devices. For this reason, it is not easy for students to prepare environment to be able to practice freely at any time. Therefore, we have developed a hands-on practical learning system to learn IP network skills on general performance PC. Unlike existing network simulators, this system does not require students to learn scripting language to make scenarios. This system enables students to practice network skills freely and virtually on just one PC. We have implemented this system by applying the virtual Linux environment User Mode Linux. This system consists of virtual routers, virtual hosts, and operating functions. This system is primarily intended to practice operation of routing on virtual routers. In this research, we developed new system that was designed on client server model for web services. To evaluate, this system was experimented. The results indicated that this system had sufficient performance for introductory network courses for undergraduate students.","PeriodicalId":158978,"journal":{"name":"2012 Sixth International Conference on Complex, Intelligent, and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"189 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126033437","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One important advantage would-be to implement the A3 paradigm: Anytime, Anywhere, Awareness, that is notifying users about ongoing activity in their online workspace. However, due to the computational limitation of mobile devices, the extension of web-based systems to systems that support also mobile clients require specific design and implementation to make the system usable, efficient and scalable. In this work we present an event-based approach to extend web-based applications to support Anytime, Anywhere, Awareness in Online Teams. It should be noted that the A3 paradigm is meant not only as informing channel but also for social support and scaffolding. The key feature here is the definition of events linked to state changes of the objects in the common workspace. The events are then processed and send to mobile clients for consumption. We present the main requirement analysis, the building blocks of the architecture for efficient event management and the prototype implementation.","PeriodicalId":158978,"journal":{"name":"2012 Sixth International Conference on Complex, Intelligent, and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116258929","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to the large scale, the dynamic nature and the highly heterogeneous tasks and resources, scheduling is a challenging problem in CGs. Different methods, from simple heuristics to more sophisticated optimization and artificial intelligence techniques, have been for a while now in the research and development agenda of researchers of the Grid computing community. One family of algorithms that represent interest is that of Memetic Algorithms (MAs), a variant of evolutionary algorithms that combines genetic search with local search. In this paper we present a study on the tuning of the operators in MAs for the problem of Independent Batch Scheduling in Computational Grids. The aim is to identify a combination of operators and parameters that would lead to the design of robust Grid schedulers using MA solvers that compute high quality planning in very short times. For the study, we have used both a static benchmark of instances and a Grid simulator to capture realistic features of real Computational Grids.","PeriodicalId":158978,"journal":{"name":"2012 Sixth International Conference on Complex, Intelligent, and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116774528","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, these enzymes with high sequence similarity may exhibit divergent physiological functions other than RNase activity, for example, angio genesis and innate immunity. In our investigation, a novel heparin-binding motif (HBM), RWRCK, identified from hRNase3 contributed to specific protein-heparin/heparan sulfate (HS) interaction. Based on this core HBM sequence, a 10-amino acid heparin binding peptide (HBPRNase3), NYRWRCKNQN, has been designed and characterized. Employing Clustal W2 and Uniprot Blastn program, such HBP pattern is found to be conserved in human and higher primates. Multiple sequence alignment of 13 members of human RNase A family reveals that HBP regions in hRNase2 and hRNase8 share 80% and 50% sequence identity to HBPRNase3, but the corresponding sequences of Gorilla and Pan troglodytes RNase3 are 100% identical, strongly suggesting that HBPRNase3 is conserved in higher primates along with species evolution. Interestingly, the putative HBPRNase2, NYQRRCKNQN, shows much lower heparin binding activity than HBPRNase3. In summary, HBPRNase3 is not a conserved motif in RNaseA superfamily, but it is a unique motif presenting in higher primates to play a crucial role in molecular interaction to heparin and HS.","PeriodicalId":158978,"journal":{"name":"2012 Sixth International Conference on Complex, Intelligent, and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125299101","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of congregating existing systems is to leverage greater benefits from the company'scomputer systems. RUP has been chosen as the software development process due to its strong focus on promoting the fulfillment of the needs of end-users, while all along increasing chances that the process be delivered within an estimated schedule and budget. However, despite the undisputed interest in RUP, there is a gap in the total amount of empirical studies on the adoption and introduction of RUP in the context of specific project types. Moreover, there is little research in investigating and adopting RUP in system integration scenarios. In this paper we investigate the right process-level of RUP to be applied to the systems integration project in a real world business scenario. In addition we evaluate the suitability of RUP for this project'scontext. Evaluation results present advantages and disadvantages of using RUP in projects of the type described here while areas of future work are identified and presented.","PeriodicalId":158978,"journal":{"name":"2012 Sixth International Conference on Complex, Intelligent, and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133619908","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
