Tradeoff relationship between flexibility and strength was successfully overcome by precise control of the morphology of a thermoplastic elastomer. The material was developed by dynamic vulcanization of rubber / crystalline polyolefin / flame retardant ternary system. TEM observation revealed that the crosslinked rubber particles were dispersed in crystalline polyolefin matrix and flame retardant was preferentially occluded in the rubber particles. A cable was produced using the developed material as a sheath. It showed high flexibility nearly close to cable sheathed with soft polyvinyl chloride. Mechanical strength and flame retardance were also high enough to pass the required level.","PeriodicalId":158811,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Symposium on Electrical Insulating Materials (ISEIM 2008)","volume":"484 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116193174","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The gel avoids the partial discharge inside the module that would lead to its failure even on its destruction. The goal of this study is to investigate the breakdown field of silicone gel in needle-plane geometry (with varying of the tip radius) under ac, dc and impulse voltages. The comparison of the results obtained under uniform field and divergent field was done. It is not possible to define a single value of the maximum field applicable to the gel. As in liquids, the field decreases when the size of electrodes is increased. However, by comparing the behavior of the gel and the silicone oil, there exists a difference for low tip radius. The space charge injected for small surfaces seems participate for increasing the breakdown field.","PeriodicalId":158811,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Symposium on Electrical Insulating Materials (ISEIM 2008)","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125467152","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The mechanism can produce relatively intense sparking between the surface of the stator bar and the core. The intensity of the sparking is such that it may erode the groundwall insulation much more quickly than slot discharges. Unlike the normal loose coil/slot discharge failure process, spark erosion can happen anywhere in the winding, and not just in stator bars that are operating at high voltage. This paper describes the vibration sparking failure process, which seems to require that the partly conductive slot coating must be much more conductive than normal; and that the coil or bar must be loose in the slot and vibrating under the 100/120 Hz magnetic forces.","PeriodicalId":158811,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Symposium on Electrical Insulating Materials (ISEIM 2008)","volume":"28 22","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132709244","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The development of new test technology and the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) are driving the monitoring and diagnosing method on insulation condition forward, and nowadays gradually changing the maintenance strategy from breakdown maintenance (BM) style to time based test and maintenance (TBM), then to condition based maintenance (CBM). This paper reviews the progress in estimation on insulation condition of oil-immersed power transformer, and summarizes the currently used test and monitoring methods. Some new methods employing dielectric response phenomena are being studied and promising for on-site test. And an intelligent transformer concept is also promising in the near future. And some unsolved problems in the field of condition monitoring and diagnosis (CMD) are proposed.","PeriodicalId":158811,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Symposium on Electrical Insulating Materials (ISEIM 2008)","volume":"136 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116384843","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The tree is classified two, i.e. 1st and 2nd tree. The behaviors of these trees have been observed by changing the ratio of two components of silicone rubber. The 1st tree is usually linear but the bubble has been formed in the soften silicone rubber. When the 1st tree is round babble, it is difficult for the 2nd tree to start from it. The speed of the 2nd tree in harden silicone rubber is higher in harden silicone rubber. The mechanism of tree in silicone rubber can be considered, and the pressure inside the tree is suggested to be important factor.","PeriodicalId":158811,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Symposium on Electrical Insulating Materials (ISEIM 2008)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129800980","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper studies the vacuum surface flashover characteristic of Al2O3/epoxy nanocomposite filled with different weight proportion of nano-filler. By using a unipolar pulse generator (20 ns rise time and 800 ns full width at half maximum), the flashover characteristic of Al2O3/epoxy nanocomposite is investigated. In addition, the thermally stimulated depolarization current (TSDC) is measured. The experimental results can be explained in terms of the different effects of shallow and deep traps.","PeriodicalId":158811,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Symposium on Electrical Insulating Materials (ISEIM 2008)","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128170827","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The time domain characters of the AE and VHF signals are researched and compared in order to distinguish the PD signal from the disturbance. Two kinds PD spectrum of Qmax-phi and N-phi were analyzed and contrasted between the VHF and acoustic emission PD signals, which are protrusion discharge and floating discharge. The way to locate the PD point was also introduced.
