This paper introduces and evaluates a small scale urban wind turbine application. Although the turbine works by its original characteristics, the output power/energy falls far away the expectations. The wind we feel daily in the cities may be too much for the human abstention but it is few for the nominal operation of the turbines that requires more than 40 km/h wind speed. We show also a calculation method where based on short-term local wind measurements we define the relation to other, long-term metering. The yearly production can be estimated on base of the decade long wind data.","PeriodicalId":158731,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 10th International Symposium on Applied Machine Intelligence and Informatics (SAMI)","volume":"202 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116174360","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It considers their utilization for purposes of composite lay-up technology. Virtual software and hardware elements necessary for work in augmented reality environment are described. In the beginning it brings on the general problems of applications of virtual components and composite lay-up process. Further the fundamental philosophy of new created application is clarified and the process called visual scripting is described, which was used for development of new application. It also provides more detailed view on particular logical sections. In these sections necessary data are harvested and compared with values from relevant virtual arrays. From the hardware point of view, new device is developed for adjustment actions of working table. This enables detailed control of any realized manufacturing process. Positioning device can determine and set the position of basic working plane using the commands from computer interface or manual changes. Key information about exact position of individual composite layers are obtained in real time thanks to the built-in sensors. One of them manages the data change of the desk position (X, Y, Z), other checks the rotation around main axis situated in the center of the table. Newly created software consists of 4 main logical areas with data packets obtained from computer and also from external devices. The displaying section then can display the movement process of virtual item (composite layer) according to its trajectory. This paper contributes with new attitude in realization of composite lay-up technology. In the end it considers possible improvements and other application possibilities that should be developed in future research activities.","PeriodicalId":158731,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 10th International Symposium on Applied Machine Intelligence and Informatics (SAMI)","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127210357","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is possible to switch between the control systems even during in flight. The purpose of the current research was to examine the applicability of full fuzzy flight control (takeoff, cruise and land) in unmanned aerial vehicles instead of partial or hybrid control [1, 2, 3]. The easy tuning of the parameters and features is quite important because one autopilot should control different sized and designed planes. Since the safety of the flight, life and value is the most important, real test flights should always be performed after many hours of computer simulation. For this purpose Hardware In the Loop simulation was used. The advantage of this simulation is that the very same environment can be created as in real flights (e.g. atmospheric, aerodynamic, propulsion model, different weather conditions). After successful simulations the real test flights can be started.","PeriodicalId":158731,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 10th International Symposium on Applied Machine Intelligence and Informatics (SAMI)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124530869","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Apart from traditional collaborative and content-based methods, a number of classification and clustering algorithms have been used for user profiling. Instance Based Learner (IBL) classifier is a comprehensive form of the Nearest Neighbour (NN) algorithm and it is suitable for user profiling as users with similar profiles are likely to share similar personal interests and preferences. In IBL every attribute has an equal effect on the classification regardless of their relevance. In this paper, we proposed a weighted classification method, namely Weighted Instance Based Learner (WIBL), to build and handle user profiles. With WIBL, we introduce Per Category Feature (PCF) method to IBL in order to distinguish the effect of attributes on classification. PCF is an attribute weighting method and it assigns weights to attributes using conditional probabilities. The direct use of this method with IBL is not possible. Hence, two possible solutions were also proposed to address this problem. This study is aimed to test the performance of WIBL for user profiling. To validate the performance of WIBL, a series of computer simulations were carried out. These simulations were conducted using a large user profile database that includes 5000 training and 1000 test instances (users). Here, each user is represented with three sets of profile information; demographic, interest and preference data. The results illustrate that WIBL with PCF methods performs better than IBL on user profiling by reducing the error up to 28% on the selected dataset.","PeriodicalId":158731,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 10th International Symposium on Applied Machine Intelligence and Informatics (SAMI)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127683567","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It results from the fact that the targets which are moving close to the radar antenna system absorb the large amount of energy and the electromagnetic waves reflected from the other targets have small magnitude. This problem can be redeemed by use of the weak signal enhancement methods in combination with proper target detectors. In this paper, six methods which three new are described and tested with the combination of different CFAR detectors. The achieved results confirm the ability of weak signal enhancement methods to improve the result of radar detection.","PeriodicalId":158731,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 10th International Symposium on Applied Machine Intelligence and Informatics (SAMI)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128022262","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The paper includes description of our concept of the diagnostic and rehabilitation system with preventative features to decrease the risks of fall and its consequences in elderly. It integrates functions of two systems developed within the two research projects MonAMI (6FP) and SMILING (7FP) where we participated. The main goal is to ensure higher safety for seniors who are in risk of falls and are living alone. The first module of the integrated rehabilitation system is aimed to identification of falls and emergency communication system for the households of elderly living alone. The platform for that is system developed under the 6FP - MonAMI. The second module of the diagnostic and rehabilitation system plays a preventive role as a home rehabilitation device used for regular training of gait during daily activities. The device is based on an innovation of the motorized mechatronic shoe TUKE developed under the 7FP project SMILING. Users train their walk ability during performance of everyday tasks while solving unexpected perturbations simulating influence of external environment by surmounting the uncertainty when stepping on. The complex system is undertaking the challenge to come in market where we see an absence of preventive, diagnostic-rehabilitation centers aimed on people (elderly) with risk of fall. The end users will be rehabilitation clinics, geriatric centers, social services and condition centers, but preferably individual users, mostly seniors.","PeriodicalId":158731,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 10th International Symposium on Applied Machine Intelligence and Informatics (SAMI)","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132795192","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
