The ability to control hallucinations depends on the patient's distraction taught by the nurse while paying attention to the unique history of the patient's development, so that the patient's survival has a positive impact on himself and his family. However, there is still very limited exploration of the patient's treatment process of auditory hallucinations related to training patients in controlling hallucinations by paying attention to differences in patient conditions. The study aims to illustrate the treatment process of two cases of auditory hallucinations focusing on the ability to control hallucinations. The participants of this study were two patients, and their families were already based on the approval of the head nurse. The method of case study is used with the approach of the nursing process to obtain a detailed representation of nurse activities to patients as a series of assessment activities, formulation of nursing diagnoses, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Data collection is carried out through participatory observation and interviews while keeping in mind the validity of information through the triangulation process. The participatory observation process is carried out for seven days to determine the patient's capability to distract hallucinations. The results showed that after seven days of treatment, both patients were able to control their hallucinations quite well, and differences in patient conditions led to the adjustment of the treatment process stage approach, to achieve optimization of treatment outcomes. It takes the capability to communicate therapeutically, patience and sincerity of the nurse's heart in tracing the life history of the patient and his family to be able to provide professional values in every nursing action.","PeriodicalId":158343,"journal":{"name":"Nursing & Primary Care","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125237299","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The SF-8TM (SF8 Health Survey), a HRQOL scale was used to conduct a questionnaire survey, before and 1 week after make- up therapy, on 8 domains of health: physical functioning, physical role, bodily pain, general health, vitality, social functioning, emotional role, and mental health. The number of valid responses was 80 (response rate, 65.6%), and comparisons were examined by Wilcoxon's signed-rank test before and after the intervention. The results showed that the elderly group who regularly use make-up and those who do not regularly use make-up showed significantly higher “vitality” after make-up therapy. In addition, the summary score for mental health was higher in the elderly group who do not regularly use make-up, suggesting that make-up therapy can lead to a positive sense of mental health in elderly persons who do not regularly use make-up.","PeriodicalId":158343,"journal":{"name":"Nursing & Primary Care","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127769652","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Method: This descriptive and comperative study was conducted on nursing students (n=534) at a State University in Ankara, Turkey. 1) Questionnaire Form, 2) Champion Health Belief Model Scale, and 3) Beck Anxiety Scale were used to data collection. In data evaluation, frequencies, percentage, mean, standard deviation, the independent t test, the Pearson correlation, and ANOVA were used. Results: The mean age of the students was 21.30 ± 2.0 (min:18, max:40). 58.2% of the students had knowledge of BC, 47% of BSE and only 28.7% perform SBE. The students with knowledge about BSE and BC showed higher motivation and preventive health behaviors (p<0.05). Students who regularly perform BSE had a low perception of barriers, high confidence perception, and high health motivation (p<0.05). As students' health motivation and confidence increased, their anxiety scores decreased (p<0.05). Conclusion: The BSE rate was well below the desired level. It was determined that the female students had some positive health beliefs about BC and this situation has decreased their anxiety levels. It is recommended to consider the barriers in front of students' preventive health behaviors and to plan initiatives to develop sensitivity on this issue.","PeriodicalId":158343,"journal":{"name":"Nursing & Primary Care","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121714499","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Introduction: Millions of people suffering from Non-communicable diseases e.g. cancer live and die with severe pain and other debilitating symptoms, which can be effectively treated and managed at affordable cost. Unfortunately, they typically lack access to medication, appropriate technology and palliative care services. Satisfactory pain management is an essential component of palliative care both in the healthcare setting and in home based care. Palliative care emphasizes on pain and symptom management in life-limiting disease management. Unfortunately, many barriers interfere with the pain and symptom management process. Barriers could be patient or healthcare related. Though nurses do not prescribe opioid analgesics they play, a pivotal role in pain management using the medication hence delay of prescription does affect nursing care. Methodology: A cross sectional study was conducted in Embu and Machakos level five hospitals and the hospices targeting 238 nurses working in these institutions. These facilities are located in the Eastern region of Kenya. Systematic Random Sampling was done to identify participants and the data collected by use of questionnaires, exported using Epidata 3.1, cleaned and coded; then analyzed using Stata version 14. Hypothesis testing was done by use of Chi – squared Test with 95% Confidence Interval. Presentation was done using tables and charts. Results: The prescriber- related barriers to pain management by use of opioids included: Delayed prescription, failure to prescribe the medication, shortage of prescribers and inadequate pain assessment. Conclusion and recommendation: Previous studies had identified some of the barriers in other countries. Many barriers interfere with the pain and symptom management process, frustrating efforts to assess and control the said symptoms. Unlike other analgesics, opioids require prescription for them to be dispensed hence prescribers are key to pain management by use of this class of drugs. Most of the barriers identified in the study could be addressed by the Government through investing in employment of prescribers, continued professional development as well as change in legislation.","PeriodicalId":158343,"journal":{"name":"Nursing & Primary Care","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116202374","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
