It is characterized by a progressive thinning of the hair follicles due to a shortening of the anagen phase of the hair growth cycle. The pathophysiology mainly involves the accumulation of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a metabolite of testosterone, and a chronic perifollicular inflammatory process. The objective of this study is to evaluate, through a literature review, the validity, protocols, and efficacy of the use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in the treatment of patients with AGA. It is a review conducted in the first half of 2024, using the PubMed and BVS databases, employing Descritores em Ciência e Saúde (alopecia, plasma rico em plaquetas, terapia) and Medical Subject Headings (alopecia, platelet-rich plasma, therapy). Inclusion criteria consisted of: a) articles published between 2022 and 2024; b) written in Portuguese or English; c) full-text articles available for free; d) research focused on PRP therapy for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia in men. Twelve articles were included in the synthesis. Overall, the articles indicated that despite the need for standardized protocols, the use of PRP as a treatment for AGA shows promising results in the current context. The therapy demonstrated improvements in hair density and patient satisfaction, suggesting its potential as a viable option for managing androgenetic alopecia. Besides being a safe option with minimal side effects, its combination with other therapies, such as minoxidil, has brought beneficial outcomes for patients with this condition. \u0000Keywords: Alopecia, Platelet-Rich Plasma, Therapy

In this study, Ibandronic acid, the most commonly used biphosphonate for treating osteoporosis, was formulated as gastro retentive dosage form (GRDF) tablets to enhance its oral bioavailability. GRDDs are an approach to prolong gastric residence time, there by targeting site-specific drug release in the upper GIT for local or systemic effect. GRDF tablets of Ibandronic acid (200 mg) were characterized with the effects of Carbopol 934P, HPMC 4KM and Na-CMC at various ratios on swelling, floating, physical integrity. A prolonged dissolution profile of Ibandronic acid GRDF tablets developed in this study was observed for its thickness, friability, hardness, drug content and in-vitro drug release. Formulated Floating tablets of Ibandronic acid gave satisfactory results for various physicochemical parameters like hardness, friability, thickness, weight variation and content uniformity. Sodium bicarbonate has predominant effect on the buoyancy lag time, while HPMC K4M has predominant effect on total floating time and drug release. From the study it is evident that a promising controlled release floating tablets of Ibandronic acid can be developed to increase gastric residence time and thereby increasing its bioavailability. Both doses significantly reduced the occurrence risk of new vertebral fractures by 50–52 percent when compared to the effects of the placebo drug. \u0000Keywords: Gastro retention, Ibandronic acid, floating tablet, Carbopol, GRDF, GRFT.

Background: According to classical Unani literature, Lazūq is primarily formulated for headache, migraine, toothache, cervical pain, dropping of uvula and different types of pain like sciatica, backache, myalgia and some orthopedic conditions. Its approach is still conventional that encompasses thick sticky stuff of drug/s which is pasted over a cloth or thick paper, consequently, maximum ratio of medicinal properties remains insignificant owed to stratum corneum (layer of skin that functions as a barrier). Devising and method of drug delivery in classical form of Lazūq makes it inconvenient to the patient, thus, it drops patient’s compliance and anticipated efficacy. In this day and age, Unani practitioners do not prescribe it very often because of its devising and limited indications documented in classical literature. Hence, it’s now becoming out of practice. Whereas, modern medicine is practicing its novel approach epitomized as Transdermal patch for several bodily conditions like Acute post-operative pain, Alzheimer disease, Angina pectoris, Anti-emetic patch, Atrial fibrillation, Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, Dementia, Depression, Dysmenorrhea, Hypertension, Local dermal analgesia, Menopausal symptoms, Motion sickness, Osteoporosis, Overactive bladder, Parkinson’s disease, Post herpetic neuralgia pain, Smoking cessation, Tic disorder, Tourette syndrome and to prevent pregnancy. In transdermal patch, drug is used in micro/nano form with chemically produced permeation enhancers (CPEs) and other smart physio-chemical techniques that makes it very easy to apply, imparts maximum active pharmaceutical ingredients with controlled release of drug. Methodology: Ancient classical Unani formulations of Lazūq was appraised and then its course with respect to today’s newer formulations as transdermal patch was reviewed to look for its progress and application in novel dosage form with the advantage of innovations in pharmaceutical and allied sciences. Conclusion: Classical Unani formulations of Lazūq must be reviewed, transformed, evaluated, coped and applied as per the standard operating procedures (SOPs) of transdermal drug delivery system. Future Prospects: New formulations of Lazūq should be designed and appraised from the medicinal treasure of Unani system of medicine for different therapeutic conditions. \u0000

The difficulties in FA transdermal patches creating are due to the peculiarities of FA obtaining with high purity and solubility, the existence of many several polymorphic forms, as well as the problems of their insertion into dosage forms. In this work, we modified the FA isolation as water-soluble polymorph. This operation allowed us to reduce the impurities in the product, to optimize the formulation of the emulsion-based transdermal patches, to provide a quantitative assessment of FA release. Data of IR, 13C NMR, AAS, ICP-AES-spectra, direct and reverse titration of carboxyl groups and phenolic hydroxyls, potentiometry, molecular weight determination by cryoscopy (M.m=740 g/mol), fluorescent analysis, solubility (3.3 mL of water per gram) confirmed the receipt of the desired polymorph. Optimization of the transdermal patches formulations by Response Surface Methodology and release evaluation and kinetics mathematical modeling using a Franz cell showed the preferences of Pluronic Kolliphor p237 as a transcutant.
