On the hardware hand, a flash controller is designed using cache and queue technology, and realizes burst read from flash by a simple set associative cache, and implements asynchronous write to flash by FIFO queue. On the software hand, we revise CFI on MTD so that flash access processes are scheduled by the way of interrupt instead of continuous queries. Performance analysis and test result show that the system improves access efficiency of flash and throughput of CPU, with a high stability and flexible configurability. The system has been used for cable modem based on Godson-I CPU. With generality, it can be used for correlative embedded systems.","PeriodicalId":155998,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE 8th International Conference on Computer and Information Technology Workshops","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-07-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115248817","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this research, we focus on developing an incremental adaptive network to detect subject at risk of coronary heart disease based on long-term Heart Rate Variability (HRV) measurement under blood pressure and breathing frequency using Poincare plot encoding, named PHIAN. The network is learnt along with the various changes of environment without destroying the old prototype patterns. The error probability density is taken care in the training process, which is necessary to avoid the regions where inputs have a high temporary probability density attracting all neural units. PHIAN is evaluated under different settings and in comparison with previous on-line learning techniques in terms of classification error and the network structure. Our proposed method is efficiently applicable to the smart sensor system to alert the health care service provider to intervene in the emergency situation.","PeriodicalId":155998,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE 8th International Conference on Computer and Information Technology Workshops","volume":"358 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-07-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122812967","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the aspect of learning process in traditional ubiquitous learning systems, in some systems users need to follow the instruction of the systems, and in other systems, they adapt to users. However, these may result to that users are hard to catch the learning process at first or may be tired of the learning process easily. To solve these problems, we believe that a co-learning process is needed. In this paper, we propose a ubiquitous learning system using co-learning for enhancing the education effect. We create a virtual pet referred as ubiquitous pet. A ubiquitous pet can progress with a user through its own progress attributes, and according to the gap of learning progress between the user and the ubiquitous pet, the ubiquitous pet will actively learn from the user or teach the user. To specify those traits, we consider both internal events and external events for the rule reasoning in our system, and to explicitly describe the condition of learning environment, we give a further definition in the external event and the internal event.","PeriodicalId":155998,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE 8th International Conference on Computer and Information Technology Workshops","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-07-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122851648","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many literatures frequently address the low storage utilization and insufficient retrieval performance as two bottlenecks for KDB-tree family of structures. A large amount of unnecessary splits caused by data insertion orders and data skewness is the fatal reason for these two bottlenecks. Compressing KDB-trees still has high appeal for practical applications. In this paper, dynamic-tuning partition (DT-partition) and leaf replication(l-replication) methods are proposed to mend the sufferings of data insertion orders and data skewness. Without loss the quantity of data selectivity, a better dynamic indexing scheme is presented for accommodating data to leaf nodes as many as possible. Moreover, the degradation of retrieval performance in heavily skewed spaces are carefully investigated and solved. Analytical and experimental results show our indexing method out performs the traditional methods.","PeriodicalId":155998,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE 8th International Conference on Computer and Information Technology Workshops","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-07-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129672758","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Conventional feature extraction methods when used for extracting physical quantities like mean, entropy etc. are not suitable for automation due to complexity of the feature extraction process. In this paper we propose a simple and novel feature extraction technique that decomposes the original image into a series of sparse images using a time varying selection criterion on the spatial plane. Features are then extracted from each of these sparse images. The feature set, when carefully analyzed and interpreted, is seen to perform as well or even better than their conventional counterparts for recognition and classification. The technique is demonstrated to be robust against noise and results in highly discriminatory features. Also, in this paper the technique to obtain shift invariant features is proposed.","PeriodicalId":155998,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE 8th International Conference on Computer and Information Technology Workshops","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-07-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129719373","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

New algorithms must be developed in order to apply it to more areas. This paper proposes association rule algorithms for logical equality relationships, modified from the original Apriori and FP-Growth algorithms.
