In this paper the development of monitoring and control software to verify a test bed ground station has been discussed. The system architecture and development has been explained in detail and then the standard software metrics (i.e. Requirements Modeling Metrics, Design Metrics, and System Size & Depth metrics) which are generally used for the quantification of the software have been elaborated. After development of software, it has been analyzed and verified on the basis of these software metrics. The analysis reveals that the overall complexity of the developed software is structural in nature.","PeriodicalId":155651,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Aerospace Science & Engineering (ICASE)","volume":"81 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133514145","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These errors are caused by various perturbations such as cosmic radiations, solar radiations, galactic noise, electromagnetic radiations and extreme temperature in space, which can corrupt the data stored in the DDR memory. Error detection techniques allow detecting such errors, while error correction enables reconstruction of the original data. These error detection and correction techniques enable reliable delivery of digital data over an unreliable communication channel. This paper focuses on the comparative analysis of various EDAC schemes for space applications. The analysis is done on the basis of time complexity, space complexity, error correction and detection capabilities, code rate and bit overhead. This paper includes comparison of Hamming, Hadamard, Golay, Repetition, Berger, Single Parity, Four Dimensional Parity, BCH and Reed Solomon Codes. It is concluded that 4D parity codes are best suited for DDR memories in space applications, since they are easier to implement and have highest code rate to bit overhead ratio.","PeriodicalId":155651,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Aerospace Science & Engineering (ICASE)","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132414642","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Basically, a microstrip patch antenna is composed of a trace of copper or any other metal of any geometry on one side of a standard printed circuit board (PCB) substrate with other side grounded. This antenna can be fed using coaxial, stripline, aperture-coupling or proximity-coupling methods. The idea of patch antenna slowly attracted the antenna community in 20 years after its birth in early 50's. The patch antennas are very useful because of their; low weight, ability to conform to any geometrical shape, easy integration with HMICs and MMICs, and low cost fabrication. Their major drawback is their narrow bandwidth which makes them unsuitable for modern-day wireless communication technologies. Through extensive studies in the last few decades on antenna performance improvement, various techniques have been developed to enhance the bandwidth. The current research focus is on the reconfigurable antennas. These can provide wide bandwidth performance; multi-band functionality; the frequencies and bandwidths can be reconfigured as well. The microstrip antennas are widely used in military, industrial and commercial sectors. This article opens with short introduction of basic characteristics, feeding methods and analysis techniques of patch antenna. After that review of bandwidth enhancement techniques, multi-band and wideband reconfigurable antenna designs are presented. The article closes with conclusions and future perspective.","PeriodicalId":155651,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Aerospace Science & Engineering (ICASE)","volume":"2 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133259244","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The application of these materials in making the interior parts of automobiles and airplanes can reduce the weight of the structures. But a limitation is the risk of flammability of these materials in such applications. This study is an effort to manufacture an Abaca fiber reinforced Polypropylene (PP) composite material, filled with nano-clay as flame retardant materials, to be used in the automobile and aerospace applications. Abaca is a natural fiber with good mechanical strength. Effects of nano-clay addition on the strength and fire retardant properties have been studies.","PeriodicalId":155651,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Aerospace Science & Engineering (ICASE)","volume":"112 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126970257","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, for a joining process to be truly effective in the fabrication step of the component, it must be able to produce sound quality joints without compromising the mechanical properties of the metals being joined. In this paper the diffusion bonding process is discussed as a method for joining complex metals and examples are given and include aluminium metal matrix composites and light alloys such as Ti-6Al-4V and a magnesium alloy (AZ31). The paper highlights the importance of the correct choice of interlayer(s) and shows how the relationship between bonding parameters and changes in joint microstructure relate to property changes of the joint region.","PeriodicalId":155651,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Aerospace Science & Engineering (ICASE)","volume":"91 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116383135","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In Pakistan land management system is almost obsolete, because land administration system of Pakistan has been inherited colonial period of British Rule in the sub-continent which lasted till the middle of 20th century. This system was designed to maintain, transfer and access land revenue and other levies from the land holders. But unfortunately this system was not updated with the passage of time. Now there are approximately 190 million land records in Pakistan which contain the data of nearly 50 million landowners. But now this system demands for change that can meet present needs and would be able to fulfill the future needs. So, keeping in view this problem this research was conducted. The main objective of this research is to transfer the existing attributes of Pakistan cadastral record into ArcGIS Parcel Data Model by accepting the concern attributes and modifying existing record. Arc GIS Parcel Data Model has been developed for USA, but it has the capacity to be molded according to the Pakistan's environment. The ArcGIS Parcel Model is a starting point for parcel information management and implementing custom made Land Information System (LIS). A general model for parcel data modeling to prepare parcel geodatabase. Parcel Data Model is based on Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC)'s Cadastral Content Standards (USA) intended to support data producer's environment. First of all attributes of ArcGIS Parcel Data Model were studied, compared with existing Pakistan's land record and then transformed according to the requirements this system. After transformation a new land record management model for Pakistan was proposed. It was analyzed that ArcGIS Parcel Data Model has this flexibility that it can be transformed into Pakistan's land record management system. The revised model for Pakistan can adjust a lot of information from existing cadastre record which was not possible earlier. This parcel data model has almost all functions and attributes which a land record should have in itself. It can provide a strong foundation for future land record management of Pakistan and can provide replacement of existing 500 years old cadastre system.","PeriodicalId":155651,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Aerospace Science & Engineering (ICASE)","volume":"275 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134230974","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The three key properties of ceramic dielectrics that determine their functionality at microwave and millimetrewave frequencies include relative permittivity (εr), unloaded quality factor Qu - the inverse of the dielectric loss (tanδ) and temperature coefficient of resonant frequency (τf). These microwave dielectric properties are affected by a number of factors. These includes tolerance factor, onset of structural phase transitions, dark core formation, processing conditions, raw materials and impurities, order/disorder behavior, compositional ordering, porosity, humidity, grain size, orientation of the crystallites, and grain boundaries. The data related to these factors is scattered. The main purpose of this review is to bring these together and present the effects of these factors on the microwave dielectric properties. Control of these factors is important for improvement in the microwave properties. This review would be very helpful to the novice researchers and technologists in the field.","PeriodicalId":155651,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Aerospace Science & Engineering (ICASE)","volume":"18 4","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134363138","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

XRD results show the development of different planes of silicon nitride which confirms the formation of silicon nitride films. The peak broadening, overlapping and shifting from their stress free values are attributed to the argon nitrogen plasma concentrations. SEM results show the formation of nitride film. AFM images shows that silicon nitride films are rough in nature and their roughness is increased with argon. Maximum surface roughness is observed for 20% argon while minimum surface roughness is observed at 10% argon content in nitrogen-argon plasma.","PeriodicalId":155651,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Aerospace Science & Engineering (ICASE)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124862272","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Porosity phenomenon in aluminium alloys is extremely important in case of critically stressed components such as in aerospace applications. In order to investigate the effect of varying oxide levels (by the addition of anodized plates and oxide rods), series of reproducible castings were produced at a constant hydrogen level, i.e. 0.2 ml/100g melt under carefully controlled conditions. The ALSPEK* H probe was used for the measurement of the hydrogen level. The Porous Disc Filtration Apparatus (PoDFA) and Reduced Pressure Test (RPT) were performed in parallel with the casting trials for the melt quality assessment. It has been found that the presence and distribution of the defects is strongly influenced by the melt oxide level. Analysis of fracture surfaces by Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) shows that the oxides are associated with the pores. The bi-film index and melt inclusions content (mm2/kg) based on the RPT and PoDFA tests, proved to be increased with the oxide additions.","PeriodicalId":155651,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Aerospace Science & Engineering (ICASE)","volume":"143 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124012421","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
