In our previous work, we have examined the diffracted fields by two horizontal edges with an arbitrary angle. In this paper, we consider the diffracted fields by two edges with an arbitrary angle which change in both horizontal and vertical directions. The numerical calculations are carried out for two edges. The results show that when the angle between two edges increases, relatively strong orthogonal polarized wave components appear to the incident wave.","PeriodicalId":155467,"journal":{"name":"2013 Seventh International Conference on Complex, Intelligent, and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125471873","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are issues for achieving the network connectivity and user coverage, which are related with the node placement problem. In this work, we consider the router node placement problem in WMNs and find the optimal distribution of router nodes in order to provide the best network connectivity among themselves and provide the best client coverage in a set of uniformly distributed clients. We use Simulated Annealing (SA) algorithm in our WMN-SA simulation system to calculate the size of Giant Component (GC) and number of covered users with different temperature values of SA.","PeriodicalId":155467,"journal":{"name":"2013 Seventh International Conference on Complex, Intelligent, and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121234789","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thouvenin","doi":"10.1109/CISIS.2013.109","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/CISIS.2013.109","url":null,"abstract":"Using gestures for natural interactions in virtual environments require robust and smart recognition systems. In these contexts, gestures and gesticulations are part of the a continuous information stream: the first are sufficient to convey meaningful information such as commands and indications. On the contrary, gesticulations are unconscious body movements performed mainly, to support speech. In the majority of gestures recognition systems, the implicit assumption of \"isolated patterns\" is made. Indeed, following the Kendon's morpho-kinetics model, a gesture is the part of the armmovement contained between the pre-stroke and the post-stroke. This strong assumption shifts the recognition problem toward a clustering issue, e.g., recognizing an isolated temporal pattern. From the practical point of view, the isolated gestures hypothesis needs a cooperation from the user and the later should emphasize the pre and the post strokes. This removes the naturalness of the targeted interface. In this contribution, we focus on having a strong segmentation technique that clusters the body movements into consistent sequences. In this paper, we present a non-parametric stochastic segmentation algorithm that is able to cluster the continuous time series representing body movements into gestures and non-gestures segments. We show as well how this technique allows any novice user creating in a semi-supervised way, his or her, own gestures library. The proposed system is assessed through a real-life example, where a novice user creates an adhoc interface to control an artificial agent in a natural way.","PeriodicalId":155467,"journal":{"name":"2013 Seventh International Conference on Complex, Intelligent, and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127439972","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, it is difficult to set a maximum number of appropriate replications in advance. Moreover, there is possibility to replicate to nodes that do not contribute to the data arrival, because appropriate replicated nodes are not selected. In this paper, we propose a routing method to dynamically set the maximum number of appropriate replications depending on network states and to select appropriate relay nodes. We verified by simulation that the proposed method has high packet delivery ratio compared with conventional methods.","PeriodicalId":155467,"journal":{"name":"2013 Seventh International Conference on Complex, Intelligent, and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124825937","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Even now, there are still so many problems including political problems for the reconstruction from the earthquake, but some newly disaster related researches are also being carried out for the reconstruction of the damaged cities. DTN (Delay Tolerant Network) is supposed to be one of the effective methods to transmit even under poor network conditions. However, when DTN is applied to local areas such as Taro in Japan, DTN might not work effectively because there are fewer roads, cars, and pedestrians than in urban areas. Therefore, this paper deals with DTN with (CWN) Cognitive Wireless Network consists of multiple wireless interfaces as proposed by a Disaster Information Network System in order to set up in local areas. Then, considering the actual usage of DTN in local areas, the simulation is held according to the map of Taro in Japan, the severely damaged town in the East Japan Great Earthquake. The proposal methods are simulated by the Epidemic Routing and Spray and Wait Routing in comparison with single IEEE802.11b/g and amateur radio. Then, the results are discussed for the future studies of DTN usages for Disaster Information Network System in local areas.","PeriodicalId":155467,"journal":{"name":"2013 Seventh International Conference on Complex, Intelligent, and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125546505","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To find the optimal coverage solution of sensor networks is a pressing concern now. The terrain of the detection area is often more complex in the applications of three-dimensional sensor networks. In this paper, a new network coverage and optimization control strategy based on genetic algorithm is proposed to solve the deterministic coverage problem of sensor nodes. The fitness function of the associated genetic algorithm is determined on a two-dimensional plane and iterations are utilized to find optimal solutions. The simulations and results indicate that the coverage strategy is an efficient coverage strategy for the three-dimensional terrain.","PeriodicalId":155467,"journal":{"name":"2013 Seventh International Conference on Complex, Intelligent, and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"200 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122530898","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To realize realistic interactive CG characters, we have to consider their emotions because during text-based interactive communications between a human and a CG character, the facial expression of the CG character should change according to its emotion change. The emotion change should be taken based on emotion ontology. Therefore, the authors try to build emotion ontology by defining emotion words and their intensities. In this paper, the authors propose a new method to define Japanese emotion words from the knowledge on the web, i.e., BBS and Twitter and to calculate their intensities based on how many times certain emotional words appear in the documents. The built Japanese emotion ontology is represented by OWL (Web Ontology Language) and EmotionML (Emotion Markup Language). In this paper, the authors also clarify the usefulness of the emotion ontology by applying it to a facial animation system.","PeriodicalId":155467,"journal":{"name":"2013 Seventh International Conference on Complex, Intelligent, and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122881383","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

On the other hand, because such positioning data include deeply personal information, the protection of location privacy is one of the most significant problems in LBS. Lots of different techniques for securing the location privacy have been proposed, for instance the concept of Silent period, the concept of Dummy node, and the concept of Cloaking-region. However, many of these researches have a problem that quality of the LBS (QoS) decreased when anonymity is improved, and anonymity falls down when QoS is improved. In this paper, we present a node density-based location privacy scheme which can provide location privacy by utilizing hybrid concept of Dummy node and Cloaking-region. Simulation results show that the probability of tracking of a target node by an adversary is reduced and the QoS of LBS is also improved.","PeriodicalId":155467,"journal":{"name":"2013 Seventh International Conference on Complex, Intelligent, and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"117 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129140424","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Positive emotions have a significant influence on mental and physical health. Much research has been carried out on the impact of emotion on the development and course of different illnesses. Emotion and significant contexts have an important role in helping people cope with depression, but lack of support undermines coping. In this paper, we present an emotion-focused e-health monitoring support system in assisting them to cope with their illness. In the system proposed, a user could monitor his emotional states in the absence of a doctor and regulate his emotions through the system. To provide personalized health care services to the user anywhere and anytime, the system should convert low-level multimodal context (including physiological signal, user profile and environment information) to high-level context. The objective of this research is establishing an emotion-focused e-health system for health care services.","PeriodicalId":155467,"journal":{"name":"2013 Seventh International Conference on Complex, Intelligent, and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129150052","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Monitoring of the elderlies and physically impaired, sports medicine, and physical therapy, are some of the active research areas in telerehabilition. Furthermore, the gaming industry has provided some low-cost devices to track motion with reasonable accuracy, thus, making telerehabilition a reality for patients who need it. This project investigates the feasibility of using the Nintindo Wii Remote Controller as a handheld device that patients can use to perform repetitive motions in physical therapy sessions in a telerehabilitation setting. Patients can use such an instructional (or e-learning) system at home without the cost, effort, and time associated with visiting a medical office. At the same time, the public health care system also benefits from the deployment of these telerehabilitation systems.","PeriodicalId":155467,"journal":{"name":"2013 Seventh International Conference on Complex, Intelligent, and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129131462","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
