So the traditional cell selection makes some users connected to a macro BS although they are geographically closer to a pico BS. These users would create severe uplink (UL) interference in HetNet. Range Expansion (RE) technique is one saving grace that could partly mitigate the UL interference problem. However, it may simultaneously bring new downlink (DL) interference. In this paper, firstly an Uplink Interference Identification Scheme based on Range Expansion is proposed to identify the main UL interference source accurately. Then a dynamic UL Coordinated Multi-Point (CoMP) scheme is applied to the main interference source to ease the UL interference in HetNet. The proposed CoMP scheme dynamically chooses coordinated BSs for an allocated user itself specifically. And the CoMP scheme has no direct relation with DL, which means that it would not bring new DL interference, compared to RE. In this paper, we propose a dynamic Base Station (BS) sleeping algorithm to reduce energy consumption, which exploits dynamic characteristics of mobile data traffic on time and spatial dimensions. Our novel approach aims to improve energy efficiency in wireless access network by optimizing the power utilization, and keep Quality-of-Service (QoS) guaranteed by taking advantage of the nonuniform spatial distribution of User Equipments (UEs). Relay-assisted OFDM cellular network is one of the most effective frameworks in the IMT-Advanced system to improve the spectral efficiency. This paper investigates the energy-efficient resource allocation for multiuser two-way multi-relay OFDM network. We formulate a joint optimization problem of subcarrier pairing based on energy-efficient subcarrier assignment, relay selection, rate allocation to minimize the total transmit power under individual uplink and downlink QoS requirement for each user. In order to solve the optimization problem with low computational complexity, the problem is divided into three subproblems. Then, the optimal subcarrier assignment algorithm is proposed as well as the Lagrange dual method is applied to solve the optimal rate allocation. With clustered linear precoding and dynamic frequency reservation techniques, JDFR-BDGMD (Joint Dynamic Frequency Reservation and Block Diagonalization precoding with Geometric Mean Decomposition precoding scheme) greatly mitigates intra-cluster interference as well as inter-cluster interference in the downlink OFDMA networks. Furthermore, the coordination is based on decision tree classification which categorizes users into coordinative users and non-coordinative users. It is noteworthy that we pick a capacity-based subchannel from system available resources for coordinative users. Finally, an equal power allocation algorithm is utilized to distribute power. TFS is a novel digital TV transmission technique that exploits both time and frequency diversity by means of time-slicing and frequency hopping. TFS breaks with the traditional transmission of TV services in independent and single multiplexes by means of using the radiofrequency (RF) channels in the broadcasting band as a whole. This operation leads to an increased coverage advantage since the variations in the received signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) between different RF channels, due to the frequency-dependent characteristics of the transmission, can be smoothed. Some studies have revealed and analyzed the existence of this coverage gain that is of paramount importance when conducting network planning operations in order to know the real coverage of the service area. Cavdar","doi":"10.1109/ICT.2014.6845088","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/ICT.2014.6845088","url":null,"abstract":"Mobile operators nowadays tend to deploy dense heterogeneous layers of 3G and 4G networks in outdoor and indoor environments by adding more macrocells and small cells (e.g. microcells, picocells and femtocells) in response to the increasing demand for coverage and capacity. Another main driver and enabler behind this tendency is the phenomenon that around 80% of power consumption in mobile communication networks stems from the radio base stations. This situation makes mobile operators opt for the use of low-power radio base stations to provide better coverage, capacity and an environmentally-friendly operation. In this paper the interplay between the deployment costs, targeted QoS and power consumptions have been studied considering two deployment options for the provisioning of the required mobile broadband coverage and capacity; namely the heterogeneous network (HetNet) option versus the homogenous macrocell deployment option. The main findings indicate that, the perceived saving in the total cost of ownership (TCO) resulting from offloading percentage of network traffic to indoor smallcell, in the case of HetNet, is bounded by the mobile subscriber density per area, their usage patterns, the adopted backhaul solution and the used spectrum resources. The main idea of the algorithm is based on calculating the residuals for the different subsets formed by the reference nodes. The final estimate is a linear summation of the estimate from the different sets weighted by the inverse of the residual to eliminate the effect of NLOS nodes. The algorithm performance is thoroughly analyzed using various statistical channel models based on the IEEE 802.15.4a standard. The impact of changing parameters like SNR, cell size, number of sensors and propagation environment types, on the accuracy of the algorithm is also investigated. In this paper, we make an enhancement of the latest proposed relay-based broadcasting method by considering a trust index model to achieve a fault tolerant relay node selection. In addition, Formal Concept Analysis is used instead of the linear function. TV band is considered the most promising band for spectrum reallocation and spectrum efficient technologies such as cognitive radio. To facilitate spectrum innovation in this band, we conducted both fixed and mobile measurements in Beijing, China. Unlike previous spectrum surveys which mainly focused on average spectrum occupancy, we analyze the usage of TV band from a comprehensive view. Multiple factors including frequency, time, space domain and specific TV standards are all considered. We find the actual utilization in Beijing is 7% higher than reported in previous study. Moreover, the time and geographical utilization peak of TV coincides with current communication systems, which results in limited time and space domain spectrum opportunity for cognitive radio. Our laboratory has done a lot of researches based on our Ad Hoc hardware platform applying the classical AODV protocol. We found out that an essential cause for unsuccessful route discovery, instable route or even the limitation of hop numbers can be summarized as the bad channel quality for the established route. We propose a mechanism of wireless channel quality based routing protocol (CQBR). That is during the route discovery process, the RSSI is introduced to value the wireless hop quality and only those hops with certain signal strength can be choose for the construction of a route. We have realized the CQBR on our platform, including the RSSI generation on the physical layer and the RREQ process on the network layer.
