The aim of this study was to investigate the possibility of synthesizing silver nanoparticles using Cymbopogon citratus leaf extract, and characterizing them by Ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, X-ray Diffraction and X-ray Fluorescence in order to determine their size and composition, as well as to evaluate them in-vitro bioactivity on selected models. The results of this study show that silver nanoparticles were successfully synthesized, with a size of 29.49 nm. The silver nanoparticles showed bactericidal activity against all three types of bacteria ( E. coli ATCC 25922, S. aureus ATCC 25923, and P. aerugunosa ATCC 27853) at the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC=31.25 μg/mL), larvicidal activity against Anopheles larvae and reasonable antioxidant properties. All these results demonstrate the biopharmaceutical potential of these new products. These nanoparticles, synthesized from plant extracts, could be a promising solution for the treatment of a number of diseases, including malaria, bacterial infections and diseases caused by oxidative stress.","PeriodicalId":15241,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Applied Sciences and Nanotechnology","volume":"7 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139326762","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The as-synthesized nanoparticles were subjected to post-calcination at 300°C, 400°C and 500°C and thoroughly characterized by advanced techniques including X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDS) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. XRD patterns revealed the formation of tetragonal SnO 2 crystalline phase with average crystallite sizes of 11.9 nm, 13.9 nm and 17.2 nm for the samples calcined at 300°C, 400°C and 500°C respectively. SEM micrographs demonstrated agglomerated and irregular morphology of the calcined SnO 2 nanoparticles. FTIR spectra confirmed the presence of characteristic Sn-O and O-Sn-O vibrational modes in the calcined SnO 2 samples. The antibacterial activity of the synthesized nanoparticles was evaluated against model Gram-negative (Escherichia coli) and Gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus) bacterial strains by standard zone of inhibition assays. Remarkably, the SnO 2 nanoparticles exhibited excellent antibacterial activity due to their high specific surface area. A systematic increase in the inhibition zone diameter was observed with decrease in crystallite size of SnO 2 for both bacterial strains, suggesting an inverse relationship between crystallite size and antibacterial behavior. The present work demonstrates a simple, eco-friendly synthesis of antibacterial SnO 2 nanoparticles with controlled crystallite size by tuning the calcination temperature.","PeriodicalId":15241,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Applied Sciences and Nanotechnology","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139329429","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The chromatic polynomial is a type of polynomial that has useful and attractive qualities . Ehrhart's polynomials and chromatic analysis are two essential techniques for graph analysis. They both provide insight into the graph's structure but in different ways. The relationship between chromatic and Ehrhart polynomials is an area of active research that has implications for graph theory, combinatorial, and other fields. By understanding the relationship between these two polynomials, one can better understand the structure of graphs and how they interact with each other. This can help us to solve complex problems in our lives more efficiently and effectively. This work gives the relationship between these two essential polynomials and the proof of theorems and an application related to these works was discussed, which is the model Physical Cell ID (PCID).","PeriodicalId":15241,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Applied Sciences and Nanotechnology","volume":"135 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139331086","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A special type of aptamer that has sequence rich in guanine base can create a special nanostructure called G-quadraplex. The creation of this structure gives the aptamer an enzyme property so that it can act like an enzyme in the vicinity of it, oxidize a chromogenic substrate and produce a colored signal. The main way to produce aptamers is a laboratory technique called SELEX (Systematic evolution of ligands by exponential enrichment), in which a mixture of different oligo libraries in the vicinity of the target analyte creates aptamers in several consecutive cycles. The aim of this study was the introduction a novel approach for obtaining DNA aptamers for detection a ligand such as aflatoxin M1 in bioinformatically manner in replacing to SELEX for obtaining the specific oligoaptamers against aflatoxin M1. For this purpose, the structure of the selected oligoaptamers were predicted using some molecular simulators and bioinformatically techniques. The results of these molecular simulations suggested G-quadruplex aptamers with suitable affinity for binding to aflatoxin M1 in colorimetric assays.","PeriodicalId":15241,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Applied Sciences and Nanotechnology","volume":"37 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139325332","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These waste products or by products result from the incomplete burning of hydrocarbon compounds during crude oil refining to produce petroleum products. The raw materials had been gathered from two places from Al-Dura refinery, sieving, burned in furnace of atmosphere that was both vacuumed and inert, crushed by mortar and washed by solvent, washing by distilled water, drying then reduced to nanoparticle size using direct crushing (sonication by probe) and indirect ultrasonic (bath sonication) processes. The samples were examined using the relevant procedures, such as EDX and SEM, as well as tests following crushing and burning. Zeta potential and particle size analysis were two additional tests conduct on the final products. The results showed that after burning, the proportion of carbon increased from 28.49, 36.30 to 91.59, and 94.47 % sequentially. Also, the direct ultrasonic method is superior to the indirect method for manufacturing carbon nanoparticles, which required less time and able to produce nanoparticles with average granular sizes about 37 nm and 86.6 nm for the first and second samples, respectively. Zeta potential data proved the resulting Nano carbon particles are quite stable","PeriodicalId":15241,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Applied Sciences and Nanotechnology","volume":"131 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135249519","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Slit weir location, crest level, flow rate and sediment size were tested within 34 steady and unsteady flow conditions under various flow rates 125, 95, 62, 50 and 34 L/s to study the scour behavior. All tests were carried out with non-uniform sediments of median sizes 0.24 mm and 0.55 mm. Steel slit weirs of 0.25 m width, 0.004 m thickness, and 0.07, 0.12 and 0.17 m crest level with respect to the mobile bed surface, which was constructed in a laboratory flume made up of brick and concrete within dimensions of (8 m, 1.25 m, and 1 m) long, wide and deep respectively. The present research demonstrates that maximum values of scour volume and scour depth obtained when the weir locate at center of the flume with flat crest for both steady and unsteady flow. Besides, the results indicated a low discrepancy between the experimental measures and the sediment scour model FLOW 3D software, both are showed a good agreement in presenting the scour development accurately as well as the model had excellent ability in predicting the velocity magnitudes at the slit location and the values of shear stress which was hard to measure directly.","PeriodicalId":15241,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Applied Sciences and Nanotechnology","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135248220","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
