To assure a reliable power system, all the buses are expected to maintain steady acceptable voltage before and after being subjected to any disturbance. Among the FACTs devices a static synchronous compensator,(STATCOM) is analyzed to provide a reliable and feasible solution. This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of STATCOM with a real time power system concerning the problem of variable loading and losses. A real time substation with 20 bus are analyzed with power flow analysis with and without STATCOM. Without the connection of STATCOM, a observable changes in the system voltage, line flows and losses results in a unexpected system behavior. This automatically influence the quality of grid and hence the customers are affected badly, indicating the need of power flow analysis and location of STATCOM on the system to improve the voltage profile. Whenever there is a change in load the system voltage level changes. With the drop in voltage level, the reactive power demand increases. If the reactive power demand is not met, then it leads to further decline in bus voltage resulting in the cascading effect on neighbouring regions. Hence to maintain the voltage profile within permissible limits becomes essential. This paper reviews various methods and techniques with their advantages and limitations adopted to retain the voltage level. In this paper, we focus on the iron losses of a transformer operated by Sinusoidal PWM inverter. We considered 1-υ half bridge Bipolar SPWM Inverter with regular sampling method. Operation of the inverter mainly depends on PWM parameters. The proposed topology is customized from the conventional topology by adding some more inductors and diodes into inductor branch to the conventional Z-source network. This paper presents a comparative analysis of Boost Inversion Ability of Switched Inductor Quasi Z-Source inverter (SL-QZSI) with conventional Z-source Inverter (ZSI). In comparison to conventional ZSI for the same value of voltages in the input and output, the proposed SL-QZSI provides the less count on passive component, a dc-source with common ground, less voltage across the capacitors, it gives the continuous input current, current shoot through is reduced and also the current stress across the inductor and diodes are reduced. This paper presents the operating principle, boost inversion ability analysis, simulation results and comparison of conventional ZSI with SLQZSI. It is developed into a multi-objective problem that involves objectives such as economical operating condition of the system and system security margin. This paper explores the application of Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm (PSO) to solve the security enhancement problem. In this paper, a novel fuzzy logic composite multi-objective evolutionary algorithm for security problem is presented. Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) devices, are modern compensators of active and reactive powers, can be considered viable options in providing security enhancement. The proposed algorithm is tested on the IEEE 30-bus system. Due to inherent disadvantages of conventional control techniques, model based control techniques are employed. MDTDOF PID is developed to control and maintain a constant temperature environment in Thermo Electric Cooler (TEC) and IMC PID controller is designed to control unstable Jacketed Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor (CSTR). The performance of the proposed controllers is compared with the conventional Ziegler-Nichols (Z-N) method. The property of an electromagnetic wave changes due to the effects of relative dielectric constant & conductivity of a dielectric material, which changes reflection or transmission signal in terms of it's amplitude and spread. This property can be utilized to estimate the relative dielectric constant of a dielectric material. First, our implementation is compared to existing approaches to establish the superiority of the proposed method. In the next step, we established the geometric shape invariance property of our work i.e. this method can estimate the dielectric property of a material irrespective of its geometric shape. In this paper various analog PI controllers were designed and analyzed for the conical tank system to maintain the liquid level in tank at the desired value. The level control becomes quite typical due to the nonlinear shape of tank as the rate of rise of water in the narrow part of the tank is high and gets reduce as height increases thus causing non linear rise in level. The time constant and gain varies as a function of level. Conventional PID controllers are widely used in many industrial control systems for several decades. The variation in the frequency is highly undesirable and maximum acceptable variation in the frequency is ± 0.5Hz. In this paper load frequency control is done by PI controller, which is a conventional controller. This type of controller is slow and does not allow the controller designer to take into account possible changes in operating conditions and non-linearity's in the generator unit. In order to overcome these drawbacks a new fuzzy load frequency controller is presented to quench the deviations in the frequency and the tie line power due to different load disturbances. The effectiveness of the proposed controller is confirmed using MATLAB/SIMULINK software. The results shows that fuzzy controller provides fast response, very less undershoot and negligible peak overshoots with having small state transfer time to reach the final steady state.
