As the very basis of development, energy usage is closely related to the level of productivity in the industries, commercial establishments, offices and in our domestic homes activities. This paper present the design and construction of an automatic energy efficiency device. This is necessary to ensure that energy is affordable and our electrical appliances are intelligently used by, providing automatic control to major energy consuming equipment. The method used is the design and construction of the device with various electronic component like, microcontroller, transistors, diodes, resistors and sensors but, to mention but a few. The various units were connected together, soldered and finally coupled. The microcontroller is programmed with assembling language. Test were made to ensure that the various units delivered the specified input and output in line with design specifications. The device was integrated into an office with two lighting points and the results showed that the device performed efficiently well. The cost implication of the design and construction of the automatic energy efficiency device is about one hundred and fifty US dollars ($150), equivalent of thirty five thousand naira (#35,000) only.","PeriodicalId":151670,"journal":{"name":"UMUDIKE JOURNAL OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127764945","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The blanching and drying experiments were conducted at different drying air temperatures (45 -750C), drying time (0 - 420 minutes), blanching temperatures (40 - 1000C) and blanching time (3 - 9 minutes). The experimental input and output (moisture ratio) data were used to architect different ANFIS structures at different epoch numbers, input and output Membership Functions (MFs). The best structure for the estimation was achieved using trap input MF, constant output MF and 1500 epoch number. The Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE) and correlation coefficient R2 showed 0.0097 and 0.958 respectively for the ANFIS structure; furthermore, K value that compares ratio of the best ANFIS checking and training error is 0.87. The results of this investigation show the capability of ANFIS for the estimation of pre-treated mango kernel moisture content in a tray dryer.","PeriodicalId":151670,"journal":{"name":"UMUDIKE JOURNAL OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128842397","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
{"title":"EFFECT OF PARTIAL REPLACEMENT OF CEMENT WITH RICE HUSK ASH AND CELLULOSE INDUSTRIAL RESIDUE ON COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH OF CONCRETE","authors":"","doi":"10.33922/j.ujet_v5i1_1","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.33922/j.ujet_v5i1_1","url":null,"abstract":"In this research work, the effect of rice husk ash on concrete produced with cellulose industrial residue was studied. A mix proportion of 1:1.8:3.7 with water cement ratio of 0.47 were used. The percentage replacement of Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) with cellulose industrial residue and rice husk ash used were 0%, 5%, 10%, 20% 30% and 40%. Concrete cubes of 150mm x 150mm x 150mm of Ordinary Portland Cement/Cellulose Industrial Residue and Ordinary Portland Cement/Cellulose Industrial Residue/Rice Ash were cast and cured at 3,7,28,60 and 90 days respectively. At the end of each hydration period, the concrete cubes were crushed and their compressive strength were determined. The result of compressive strength of 5-40% replacement of cement with cellulose industrial residue ranges from 13.02-32.81 N/mm2 as against 25.60-42.08N/mm2 for the control test. The result of the compressive strength of 5-40% replacement of cement with Cellulose Industrial Residue and Rice Husk Ash ranges from 13.17-36.30N/mm2 as against 25.60-42.08N/mm2 for the control test. The result of the initial and final setting time of Ordinary Portland Cement/Cellulose Industrial Residue and Cement/Cellulose Industrial Residue/Rice Husk Ash for 5-40% replacement of cement ranges from 61-118mins, 58-110mins and 620 – 836mins, 598 – 799mins respectively as against 52mins and 590mins for the control test. The main conclusion of this study is that the incorporation rice husk ash into cellulose industrial residue increase the strength of concrete produced. The objective of this study is to assess the strength of concrete produced when two pozzolanic materials were used to replace cement in producing concrete.","PeriodicalId":151670,"journal":{"name":"UMUDIKE JOURNAL OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129570769","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As the complexity of the software increases, the existing model becomes obsolete and experiences some limitations in assessing risk efficiently. In this paper, an optimized software risk assessment model with twelve critical risk elements was developed using genetic algorithm to efficiently manage risk elements. All simulations were performed in Matlab. Quantitative research methodology was deployed for data collections and results obtained show that the model with twelve critical risk elements optimally manages and assesses risk than the one with just nine CRE.","PeriodicalId":151670,"journal":{"name":"UMUDIKE JOURNAL OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132865075","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
