There is new habit on education system such as online learning. Since online learning student use gadget/computer to learn. Using gadget in high frequencies may cause effect. This research to measure mental workload of student during online learning in Mechanical Engineering Education Department. Mental effort is measured use continuous subjective workload assessment technique. Continuous subjective workload assessment technique (C-SWAT) is simplify of subjective workload assessment technique. In continuous subjective workload assessment technique, participant is asked dimension that participant prefer, after that participant is asked to do simple arithmetic test. Dimensions are time load, mental effort and psychology-effort. This research use minimum weight of 0 (W0) with weight used is 1/3. Moreover, there is questionnaire to know study interest of participant during online learning. In this research mental effort load is the second highest score, the first highest score is psychology stress effort. Multiplication test is high score than other arithmetic test. During online school student have fatigue, most of them feel eyestrain and body sore. Student prefer synchronous learning type than a-synchronous learning it’s because in synchronous learning student can discus with teacher directly.","PeriodicalId":151504,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Mathematics and Natural Sciences","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114346346","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to explain the reasons why the use of MATLAB needs to be utilized because it is considered to be able to solve mathematical problem solving theories and can be easily understood. This type of research uses descriptive qualitative research, because it describes and explores information in words. Data collection techniques using literature study and practice. To test the validity of the data used triangulation techniques. Data analysis was carried out by reducing data, presenting data and drawing conclusions. The results show that the use of MATLAB is very helpful in solving mathematics, especially on partial derivatives and produces comprehensive results.","PeriodicalId":151504,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Mathematics and Natural Sciences","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133919115","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a developing country, Indonesia has a large amount of effluent produced that is not processed but is discharged directly to the available pool. In order to handle restaurant wastewater, physical and chemical approaches can be combined with biological degradation (biodegradation). This biodegradation can be increased by bacterial acclimatization, namely by the addition of microorganisms that have been developed that can efficiently degrade pollutants in a contaminated environment. Stages of research were carried out by propagation of bacteria (Seeding), then the acclimatization process was carried out to adapt bacteria to waste, biodegradation process, and calculate the growth rate curve of microorganisms. It was found that the half-saturation constant of mixed culture microorganisms to treat restaurant waste was 41,336, with a maximum growth rate of 0.124 per day. The purpose of this study was to determine student perceptions of the level of understanding of all statistical material indicators after attending statistics lectures and to prove that the average student perception was not in the low category. The research method used is quantitative research. The sample used was 31 samples from students of Early Childhood Education Teacher Education, Universitas Negeri Medan in 2021. The data collection technique used a questionnaire technique. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and one sample t-test. The results showed that Student perceptions of mastery of statistical lecture indicators fall into two categories, namely the high category of 61% and the medium category of 39%. The perception of the sample's ability to master the lecture indicators is divided into four categories, namely the very high category of 19%, the high category of 42%, the medium category of 32%, and the low category of 7%. The mean score of perceived mastery of statistical indicators is greater than 31.5, which means that students' perceptions of ability are not in the Low category. Teacher understanding was measured using the View of Nature of Science (VNOS) form C instrument developed and refined from VNOS form B to measure the understanding of the nature of science of secondary biology teachers. Understanding the nature of science needs to be owned by science students and teachers to avoid any misconceptions about science. Research on understanding the nature of science teachers of science is still not widely carried out in Indonesia. This qualitative study using VNOS Form involved 9 Biology teachers who taught in high schools from different schools. The VNOS Form C which has been translated into the Indonesia version was administered to respondents by using google form. Ten questions represent the 14 aspects of VNOS Form C. Based on the results of the data analysis, it is concluded that VNOS form C can be used to measure the understanding of the nature of science for biology teachers. However, the study showed that most biology teachers are still in the status of naïve understanding about the nature of science rather than eclectic and informed understanding. This study implies the need for improvement of teacher understanding of the nature of science.
