Another long-standing global epidemic is Diabetes mellitus and Diabetics who get infected with COVID-19 have been seen to have worse outcomes and a high non-survival rate. The global focus is to control the pandemic for which diabetes has proved to be a vulnerable group. The present review aimed to assemble the information about Diabetes mellitus and COVID-19 mainly focusing on the interrelation of pandemics of the past and Diabetes mellitus, possible pathophysiological mechanisms governing COVID-19 in diabetics, the effect of COVID-19 infection on underlying Diabetes mellitus, morbidity, and mortality in diabetic COVID-19 patients and finally the management of Diabetes mellitus in the current pandemic.it is concluded that this COVID-19 pandemic is still lurking and it is of great importance to highlight the fact that a high percentage of the population of the world is affected by various comorbidities like diabetes mellitus, hypertension, COPD, obesity, etc which makes a subset of the population more vulnerable. This vulnerable population is at increased risk for a poor outcome if affected by COVID-19. Hence, we as a society should prioritize this population at risk to avoid adding additional burden to the already overburdened health care system in the present COVID-19 scenario.","PeriodicalId":15062,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Biochemical Technology","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70836061","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

(purslane) growing in Kashmir Valley. Different solvent extracts of the aerial parts of P. oleracea were prepared including aqueous, methanolic, ethanolic, acetone, and hexane. Qualitative phytochemical analysis was performed by different tests and quantitative analysis for total flavonoids and total phenolics was performed. Antioxidant potential was analyzed through 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) scavenging assay, nitro blue tetrazolium (NBT) assay, and FARP assay. Finally, the antimicrobial activity was evaluated through the disc-diffusion method. Results indicated that P. oleracea is very rich in phytochemical composition and revealed the presence of phenols, tannins, steroids, flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, terpenoids, and anthraquinones. Total flavonoids and phenols were found significantly in these extracts while acetone extract showed the highest total flavonoids content (21.75 ± 0.21) and ethanolic extract showed the highest phenolic content (31.97 ± 0.32) mg g -1 dry matter (DM). Acetone extract possesses the highest antioxidant activity. The antibacterial activity was analyzed against S. aereus, E. coli , and M. luteus and antifungal activity against Aspergillus flavus and Fusarium oxysporum . Each extract showed significant antifungal and antibacterial activity but the highest was revealed by ethanolic extract of P. oleracea . Ethanolic extract yielded minimum inhibition concentration (MIC) values of 0.14, 0.05, 0.07, 0.62, and 0.73 mg/ml against S. aereus, E. coli , M. luteus, Fusarium oxysporum , and Aspergillus flavus , respectively. In conclusion, P. oleracea growing in Kashmir Valley showed rich phytochemical composition, strong antioxidant, antibacterial and antifungal activities .","PeriodicalId":15062,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Biochemical Technology","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70833970","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this study is to trace the dynamics of the physiological parameters of the heart in adolescent tennis players. This study was performed on 27 clinically healthy adolescent tennis players with at least two years of training experience. The control group consisted of 22 clinically healthy young men who had never been involved in physical culture or sports. The observation was performed using the SSD80 \"Aloka\" ultrasonic device (Japan). With its help, several functional indicators of the heart were taken into account. Statistical analysis of the results of the work was performed using Student's t-test. The examined tennis players showed signs of slight hypertrophy of the left ventricular muscle. This was indicated by an increase in the diameter of the muscle in its posterior wall and an increase in the mass of the left ventricle of the heart. In all tennis players, the left cardiac ventricle volume was perfectly normal. Tennis players also had an optimum diastole time. Regular tennis lessons strengthen all of a person's internal organs. They increase left ventricle muscle mass, which increases its function.","PeriodicalId":15062,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Biochemical Technology","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70819896","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Northeast India has a huge reservoir of medicinal plants for treating jaundice using folk medicine (ITK). The current study focuses on model 32 sequences of HEV core protein submitted in GenBank (KJ879461KJ879492) and to evaluate the docking pattern with 10 selected active compounds (Glycyrrhizin, Lignans, Piperine, Wedelolactone, Galactomannan, Zingerone, Cajanin, Catechin, Gallic acid, Vasicinone) which are found in various medicinal plants species. Using Open Babel, the protein sequences, as well as the structures, were first converted to PDB format. The Gene Bank provided these sequences [protein sequence id: AIH14833AIH14864]. The sequences were analyzed by PROTPARAM for chemical compositions and RaptorX for structure. Finally, PASS was applied for toxicity determination and ADME for screening the safety. The Raptor X and PROTPARAM analysis showed stable protein structures of HEV core protein. The analysis categorically showed the composition of C, H, N, O, and S in the studies sequences in a ratio of 108: 171: 35: 36: 1. However, the best results were found in Bhui-amla (Lignans) with the highest docking score of 6944 against sequence ID AIH14838. Lipinski Rule was carried out for all the active compounds and was found to be excellent. The docking score and minimum energy associated show efficient activity of the studied compounds against HEV protein and generates baseline scientific data on the use of folk medicine and the possibility of their commercial utilization.","PeriodicalId":15062,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Biochemical Technology","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70824666","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
