A comprehensive examination of portable gadgets in business ICT and their impact on SMTEs in Eastern Cape peri-urban areas was performed using a non-probability purposive sampling technique to select eight SMTEs, with a quantitative methodology approach adopted, using a structured questionnaire for an in-depth interview. Data captured from structured interview sessions were deductively coded with the aid of software (NVivo version 12), with the transcribed interview data divided into different meaningful codes in this process; developed based on the difference, similarities, and meanings that emerged. The findings suggest a positive attitude towards portable digital device and technology use in SMTEs in the tourism sector in Eastern Cape peri-urban areas. Smartphones were found to play a crucial role as essential business tools, particularly favored in rural settings, while laptops were indicated as valued for their portability, serving as indispensable tools for daily business activities, while tablets hold less significance. The results highlight participant reliance on smartphones for business operations as critical, since these devices streamline numerous tasks, improve convenience, and enable seamless connectivity while mobile. The use of tablets in the tourism and hospitality sectors appears to be limited. The finding’s additionally indicated participants are heavily reliant on laptops for routine business activities, due to their portability and convenience. Desktop computers were, furthermore, found to primarily be used as backup systems, indicating a diverse, portable ICT gadget usage pattern among participants.","PeriodicalId":150007,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Business Ecosystem & Strategy (2687-2293)","volume":"336 11","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141385997","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is frequently utilised to improve business sustainability and meet stakeholder responsibilities. However, literature focuses on CSR practices in larger corporations, neglecting the practice in SMEs. On the other hand, CSR research usually overlooks internal stakeholders such as employees. In order to bridge this gap, the researcher investigated internal stakeholders’ perceptions of CSR in a South African medium-sized organization located in the eThekwini municipal area, as this perspective is critical in developing a comprehensive CSR strategy. Data for this research was gathered through interviews and focus group discussions with managers and employees of the selected organization. Thematic content analysis was the primary method utilised for analysing the collected data, which was aided by NVivo 12 software for complete data processing and organization. The findings revealed that employees view CSR as a viable practice that encourages dedication and motivation to improve work performance. CSR implementation within the organization is seen as an effective motivational tool, resulting in greater output, increased staff dedication, decreased absenteeism, and increased employee turnover. The researcher argues that CSR can increase employee performance and emphasizes the necessity for SME managers to incorporate social, environmental and employee-related CSR projects into their business strategy to improve overall performance.","PeriodicalId":150007,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Business Ecosystem & Strategy (2687-2293)","volume":"30 8","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141385139","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These issues are complex and multifaceted, often intertwined and mutually reinforcing. Several theories and patterns can help explain the erosion of the state and public services in the country. The core objective of this paper is to elucidate the foregoing factors, using purposely selected theories as philosophical lenses through which to understand why service delivery dilemmas prevail, and why state institutions are eroding. This paper is located within a qualitative paradigm, in particular narrative reviews, where secondary sources of information was consulted. This paper makes a conceptual contribution to the notion of the erosion of South African public sector institutions in general, and the field of Public Administration in particular. The paper recognises that addressing the erosion of the South African state and public services requires comprehensive strategies and reforms, including tackling corruption, improving the education and healthcare systems, creating jobs, and addressing economic inequalities. It also necessitates strengthening institutions and promoting good governance to restore public trust and to ensure sustainable development.","PeriodicalId":150007,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Business Ecosystem & Strategy (2687-2293)","volume":"318 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141386510","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research examines how these policies intersect with the development of intra-African enterprise and local employment rates. The study employs a qualitative methodology, utilising an exploratory research design to investigate African economic performance metrics. It also uses qualitative data to gain a deeper understanding of the subtle implications of policies. The research evaluates the economic consequences of these policies in African contexts by utilising a range of secondary sources, such as governmental reports, peer-reviewed studies, and policy evaluations. Initial results indicate that although green policies have resulted in substantial environmental advantages, their influence on intra-African economies is intricate and diverse.  The report asserts that comprehending these dynamics is crucial for policymakers, practitioners, and researchers who have an interest in fostering sustainable development and inclusive economic growth in Africa. The study suggests the adoption of environmentally friendly policies that take into account the economic conditions inside Africa and aim to achieve a local economy that is both environmentally sustainable and inclusive.  ","PeriodicalId":150007,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Business Ecosystem & Strategy (2687-2293)","volume":"352 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141385821","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The reasons and processes by which affective commitment and work engagement impact employee creativity can be studied through the lens of ego depletion theory. In this study, we surveyed employees in a theme park and applied structural equation modeling to analyze the survey data. Our observations suggested that the decline in employee creativity due to job anxiety was possibly the result of low affective commitment and work engagement, with work engagement being a key mediating factor. The development of emotional ego depletion in service industry employees after experiencing job anxiety could explain our observations. Emotional depletion not only affects employees' work attitudes and emotional expressions but also reduces their motivation for creativity.","PeriodicalId":150007,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Business Ecosystem & Strategy (2687-2293)","volume":"300 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141386486","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this reason, an empirical study is needed to determine the relationship between the Profit-Sharing Ratio and the Zakah Performance Ratio on Return on Assets in BPRS in Indonesia. The research method used is a quantitative approach using secondary data, and data analysis techniques using multiple regression. The research results show that partially the profit-sharing ratio has a significant effect on the return on assets of BPRS in Indonesia. On the other hand, the zakat performance ratio does not significantly influence the return on assets of BPRS in Indonesia. However, simultaneously or together the profit-sharing ratio and zakat profit ratio significantly affect the profitability of BPRS in Indonesia. Thus, the research is expected to provide a constructive contribution to the development of the world of science, for the government, for practitioners and others related to the implementation of Sharia compliance and financial sustainability of Sharia Financial Institutions in general, and of BPRS both globally and locally—Indonesia in particular. ","PeriodicalId":150007,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Business Ecosystem & Strategy (2687-2293)","volume":"49 40","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141384279","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study sample comprises persons who frequent shopping malls in the Central Jakarta Region. This survey includes a group of 103 persons who use Shopee Pay electronic money in the mall area of Centra Jakarta. The sample selection was carried out using the method of incidental sampling. The data used in this study include primary data, especially questionnaires that were distributed to respondents. The study results suggest that the convenience and promotional activities have a positive influence on the decision to use Shopee Pay digital currency. This suggests that the choice to utilise electronic currency is impacted by factors such as convenience and promotional offers. Before proceeding, consumers will evaluate whether a system would streamline their activities, considering the wide array of attractive offers offered by the shopeepay site, as well as compelling marketing about available specials on the platform. Furthermore, security concerns negatively affect the willingness to use Shopee Pay as a digital payment option. This text explores the relationship between security and the choice to use electronic money. Before choosing the Electronic Money platform, customers must ensure that the funds saved in the electronic wallet will be protected and resistant to unauthorised access, therefore reducing the likelihood of unwanted events.","PeriodicalId":150007,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Business Ecosystem & Strategy (2687-2293)","volume":"16 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141385923","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research aims to see the influence of supply chain dynamic capabilities, including collaboration, integration, agility, and responsive capabilities, on the operational performance of food and beverage MSMEs in Sleman, Indonesia. The sample of this study is food and beverage MSMEs located in Sleman, Indonesia, which apply supply chain management capabilities such as collaboration, integration, agility, and responsive capabilities. The MSMEs must have been operated for more than three years, starting from 2019, so MSMEs already have a more robust supply chain network. Data from sixty food and beverage MSMEs was collected in 2024 using a set of questionnaires tested for validity using Pearson’s correlation and reliability using Cronbach’s Alpha. Data processing in this research uses SPSS 25 software with an analysis tool, namely multiple regression analysis. This analysis helps prove whether or not there is an influence between two or more independent variables on the dependent variable. The results of this research show that collaboration capabilities, integration capabilities, agility capabilities, and responsive capabilities partially have a significant positive effect on operational performance. Increasing collaboration capabilities between MSMEs and internal and external parties must be maintained to improve value from the MSMEs themselves. According to the hypothesis test results, the integration capability variable significantly influences the operational performance of MSMEs in Sleman, Indonesia. The agility capability variable significantly influences the operational performance of MSMEs in Sleman, Indonesia. The responsiveness significantly influences the operational performance of MSMEs in Sleman, Indonesia.","PeriodicalId":150007,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Business Ecosystem & Strategy (2687-2293)","volume":"51 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141381763","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

From having an influence within their national borders to the international scale, these actors are very pivotal agents that often seek to bring justice and better ordinary individuals' lives. Non-state actors such as multinational corporations and civil society organizations are some of those on the frontlines of fighting for economic emancipation, especially in less developed states. Yet, this is not always the case; in some instances, they can be noted as villains who would bring about the injustices themselves. Although their influence cuts across many sectors of society, the paper sought to discuss the contribution of these two actors, the state and the non-state actor, to the economic stability and/or instability of state-owned entities. From this premise, the paper adopted a qualitative method and case study approach for South African Airways (SAA) to understand the contribution of state and non-state entities to the financial stability or instability of SAA. Thus, the findings suggest that SOEs are affected by various direct and indirect interventions by both state and non-state actors, especially in their economic ambitions, which provide stability or instability in the entity. Hence, the paper concludes that the economic stability or instability of SOEs such as SAA is largely affected by the intervention of both state and non-state actors. ","PeriodicalId":150007,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Business Ecosystem & Strategy (2687-2293)","volume":" 39","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140211009","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study adopts an exploratory research design under qualitative research, using semi-structured interviewing of owners and managers of tourism accommodation firms using the TOE framework and RBV theory. The findings reveal that technological sustainability expertise, executive sustainability support, organizational resources and capability, service intermediary sustainability practices, collaborative innovation adoption capability, tourism sustainability regulatory policy, and sustainability practices perceived by residents are the key drivers of TSP. The outcomes also show that tourism sustainability practices have a positive impact on the SCP of accommodation firms. This study makes a theoretical contribution to the literature on tourism sustainability by exploring how TOE antecedents motivate firms to adopt sustainability practices as product innovation, which in turn enhance SCP. Also, this study provides strong backing for the premises of the TOE framework, and RBV theory offers valuable practical insights for managers and owners. This will aid in identifying the pivotal factors influencing TSP and SCP, enabling the implementation of innovative strategies to enhance firm competitiveness. Also, the research can help the government and policymakers formulate sustainable tourism policies to promote tourism innovations. The adoption of sustainable practices has been a focal point for both academic researchers and professionals in the tourism industry. However, there has been insufficient exploration of the TOE drivers that facilitate the integration of tourism sustainability within the context of TAFs in a developing country. Therefore, this study aims to fill this gap in knowledge.","PeriodicalId":150007,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Business Ecosystem & Strategy (2687-2293)","volume":" 8","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140210743","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
