In this paper we provide the design and implementation of the communication module with HART protocol. The primary objective of the designed hardware is to minimize current consumption so that the module is powered by a 4-20 mA current loop. The employed parts have also been selected with regard to the minimum current consumption. Another requirement for the proposed module was its galvanic isolation from the measuring device. Communication between the HART communication module and the measuring device is implemented as shared access to the I2C EEPROM and FRAM. The basic idea for the software development was to use real-time operating system and divide the program into separate processes with mutual communication. As an operating system we choose FreeRTOS, which is able to perform processes (tasks) on the basis of events as well as to use preemptive scheduling. The LCL type of the filter provides significant reduction of the current ripple. On the other hand the stability of the circuit is reduced as well, especially the current control stability which is the reason for double current control implementation. This solution provides direct current control of both the converter input and output side currents while the main control requirement is to provide the precise sinusoidal output current waveform. Conductive fabrics have obtained increased attention mainly due to their desirable flexibility and lightweight. Knowledge of electrical properties of textile material (for example in fiber or yarn form) is very important especially for conductivity prediction of whole system “fiber - yarn - fabric” and subsequent design of product for specific application. Variety methods of measurement (ammeter and voltmeter, Wheatstone-bridge method) and many different arrangements of the material to be tested can be used. Bulldog clips are used most often to hold the yarn between electrodes. The contact resistance generated at measured material/metal bulldog clip interface creates measurement errors. This phenomenon leads to lower accuracy and reproducibility of measurements. The main aim of this work is introduction of innovated method eliminating contact resistance problem. {"title":"Wrist cuff method determines mean arterial pressure in dual-cuff blood pressure system","authors":"J. Jílek, M. Oscillometric blood pressure (BP) monitors determine the value of MAP by processing arterial pulses in the cuff. Cuff pressure at the point of largest pulse amplitude is equal to MAP. The oscillometric determination of MAP is subject to errors resulting from wave reflections and stroke volume variability. We developed an experimental system that uses two cuffs in order to improve accuracy of noninvasive BP measurement. The system consists of a compact module with pneumatic and electronic circuits, two detachable cuffs (arm and wrist), and a notebook computer connected to the module via a USB cable. This study concentrated on improvements in the determination of MAP using the wrist cuff pulses. The smallest wrist cuff amplitude in the middle segment of BP test was determined as the point of MAP. The corresponding arm cuff pressure was the value of MAP. Waveforms and cuff pressures from 40 BP tests were used to determine oscillometric, wrist cuff, and calculated MAP values and the values were compared. The system is based on a multi-standard wireless concept that by employing so-called RF network combiner can offer the interoperability of several protocols/networks. The main goal is monitoring several different parameters and processes by utilizing a multiplex oriented management software that might be useful in reduction of the size and the total power consumption for monitoring devices in smart households. Therefore, the measurement module is equipped with a microcontroller with RF module for ZigBee PRO, ANT+ or BlueTooth LE networks. Measured parameters are sent through a wireless network to an acquisition point (the RF combiner), which collects the data and transfers it to a database server. Here, the data is stored and can be accessed remotely via internet.
