We start reviewing some general aspects of ancestor worship in sub-Saharan African cultures. This provides a common ground for approaching Yoruba culture in particular and analyzing ancestor veneration through the Egúngún festival. Next, some key points are put forward to investigate the guidelines that the concept of egúngún provides to understand education in this tradition. Three aspects are highlighted: the role of oral tradition in the construction of “world-senses”; the formation of a person’s good character; and the commemoration of the past as a constitutive element of individual and collective identity. Finally, we propose to appreciate the Egúngún festival as an educational experience that could be classified within the scope of informal education.","PeriodicalId":149026,"journal":{"name":"Interpretatio. It is our goal to reflect on the impact that such experiences are having on society and anticipate the many outcomes to which the transformation of certain cultural practices could give rise to. Under the assumption that, even after the confinement has ended, certain collective behaviors and conducts will suffer an irreversible change which will be observed in the radical alteration of our routines, perceptions of our daily life, and how we build our interpersonal relationships, it is our wish to underline the areas of social life in which we can already perceive these transformations. The focus of deliberations here presented do not intend to assert unique and unequivocal answers, but to indicate some directions around which the insights that will become of great relevance are beginning to emerge to understand the path of the socio-cultural changes that the pandemic has brought about.","PeriodicalId":149026,"journal":{"name":"Interpretatio. The main argument of this article is the following: the complex intercultural relations between European and Amerindian knowledges made possible Caramuel’s first description of the binary code. That is to say: there is a certain parallelism between the political conquest of new peoples and the spiritual conquest of new knowledge.","PeriodicalId":149026,"journal":{"name":"Interpretatio.
