Neural correlates underlying the processing of emotional information, influence of emotional interference on cognitive control, gender difference in such activities remain a topic of research and discussion.Purpose. To study the connectivity of the brain regions involved in the processing of emotional information in left-handers, based on the EEG data obtained during their passage the emotional Stroop test (EST).Methods. EEG was registered during subjectpassage the EST successively two times. In EST a series including 240 words were presented at the center of the computer screen in one of two colors: red or green, words were emotional (negative) or neutral, shown in pseudorandom order. Some of these stimuli (target words names of animals and plants) participants were instructed to ignore (do not press any keys). Subjects were asked to respond with right hand (pressing P on a keyboard) for words printed in red and with left hand (pressing Q on a keyboard) for words printed in green. It was investigated source level functional connectivity (FC) in two groups of left-handers (17 to 22 years old): women (n=10) and men (n=10). FC was analysed between 21 regions of interest (ROI), selected on the base of fMRI research literature. Connections between ROIs were assessed using lagged phase synchronization (LPS) with eLORETA complex.Results. Statistically significant differences in FC by LPS between men and women groups were found only in first passage of EST. Particularly, FCof women, compared to men was: -higher between anterior cingulate cortex and left middle temporal area in delta band;-lower between left hippocampal formation and right frontal eye fields in beta-1;-and higher in beta-2 between right frontal eye fields and right anterior insula.were shorter for both emotional and neutral words. The interference effect was observed in both tests in women and only in the first test in men. Interference effect also was higher for responses with left hand for both groups. Repeated passage of the emotional Stroop test leads to reducing the effect of interference in men but not in women.Originality.The main neural networks have been identified, which in left-handed women are more involved in the processing of negative emotional information than in left-handed men.Conclusion. Compared to men, women have stronger connections of two areas of the brain involved in processing negatively colored emotional information, with other areas of the brain. The anterior cingulate cortex, which is considered to playan important role in attention and executive functions, is connected to the left middle temporal area, involved in the analysis of visual movement and words processing. However, such studies were conducted with individuals who had varying degrees of deafness and virtually did not examine children with congenital deafness.Children with congenital deafness are likely to have significant changes in cardiovascular system (CVS) indicators compared to their healthy peers. Purpose.The aim of the study was to elucidate the mechanisms of heart rate regulation in children with deprivation of auditory function during active orthostatic testing. Methods. The study involved 15 children: boys (7 individuals) and girls (8 individuals) aged 8-11 with congenital deafness and 17 almost healthy peers. Cardiorhythmograms were recorded with spectral characteristics of heart rate: (VLFms2, less than 0.05 Hz), low (LFms2, 0.05--0.4 Hz) frequencies; the ratio of LF/HF was considered.Results.The results of the study suggest that a group of childrenwith hearing deprivation in all indicators of spectral analysis of HRV had a much lower reactivity of the CVScompared to their healthy peers. The LF indicator did not change significantly, and therefore the sympathetic link of regulation did not play a significant role. However, the contribution of the parasympathetic system, which can be judged by HF, was significantly reduced in both groups. Thus, we can assume that the regulation of blood circulation was due to reduced activation of the parasympatheticlink with constant sympathetic. This feature is indicated by the indicator of vagosympathetic balance of the LF / HF ratio. Its changes reached quite significant values: 87.5% in deaf and 262.5% in healthy children. This indicates the leading role of the sympathetic system in the regulation of heart rhythm in children 8-11 years during orthostasis. However, the differences in the reactivity of the CVSof representatives of different groups indicated a less pronounced degree of activation of this link in the regulation of children with derivation of auditory function.The ratio of the length and width of the autocorrelation cloud (L / W) indicated a similar dependence. The dynamics of this indicator in the direction of increase may indicate a change in the intensity of the autonomic circuit regulation of cardiac activity. 202159In healthy subjects, these changes occurred with a greater degree of activation of central regulatory mechanisms than in children with hearing impairments.Because TP is an almost complete physiological analogue of SDNN, its decrease during orthostasis in children with hearing deprivation by 20.1% and 44.2% in healthy people indicates that the total effect of central regulation mechanisms decreases.Originality.Currently, there are virtuallyno data on reactive changes in the cardiovascular system of children with hearing impairments to postural gravitational loads, especially in relation to children with congenital deafness. The modern way of life and the mode of education affects the health of a primary school pupil. Especially relevant is the study of physical health and adaptive capacity of modern schoolchildren, in terms of the new Ukrainian school . Purpose. to assess the physical development of first-graders who studied in the traditional education system and the new Ukrainian school. Methods. 120 schoolchildren aged 6-7 participated in our research. They were divided into two groups (60 people each): I - pupils of the traditional education system (TES), II – pupils of the new Ukrainian school (NUS). Within the groups, subgroups by gender (30 people each) were distinguished. To identify trends in the physical development of first-graders the conventional method of anthropometry was used, taking into account height (H, cm), body weight (BW, kg), vital capacity (VC, l), muscle strength of the leading arm (dynamometry, kg), blood pressure (ATsyst., ATdiast., mm Hg), heart rate (heart rate, beats / min.). According to the established anthropometric indicators, the indices of physical health were determined: body mass index (BMI, kg / m2), vital index (LI, ml / kg), strength index (SI,%), Rohrer index (IR, kg / m2), level of physical condition (LPC, c. unit) and adaptive capabilities according to the index of functional changes (IFC, c.unit). During the obtained data processing, the methods of variation statistics with the estimation of Student's t-test were used. Results . Boys were characterized by a higher proportion of people with low growth rates, girls - the opposite trend. Among NUS children, a higher proportion of people with excess BW growth rates, regardless of gender, was found. The tendency to increased heart rate was recorded among NUS children, who had a higher proportion of people with VL below normal. The highest percentage of children in terms of dynamometry that meet the age norms was recorded among TES girls. Significant differences between the groups of subjects were found in terms of VL and the strength of the muscles of the hand (with the predominance of TES students). NUS children were characterized by higher BMI. According to the indicators of LI and SI, the advantage of TES children was revealed, for whom the average indicated indicator corresponded to the average level (in the opposite group - low). In general, NUS children were characterized by significantly higher indicators of physical condition. According to the IFC, TES boys were more characterized by an unsatisfactory level of adaptation, while among girls the share with unsatisfactory level of adaptation is higher in terms of NUS training. Food security and agriculture are turning into an era characterized by scarce and depleted resources, climate change, and price volatility. Modern agrarian technologies require excessive consumption of water, synthetic pesticides, mineral fertilizers, produce increased CO² emissions, disrupting natural biological processes. In contrast, perennial grain crops, unlike annual ones, can improve soil structure, are resistant and adapted to pathogens, pests and climate change, mitigate anthropogenic consequences and have significant potential as a food and feed crop. Perennial grain crops are an alternative to the paradigm shift in agriculture because they have considerable potential for integrating into production systems. Topicality of the theme. Climate change has led to problems related to the stability of agriculture, raising concerns about the future of global food security. Therefore, the global goals of transforming the world include: hunger extermination and development of agriculture, climate change mitigation, affordable and clean energy. In 2018, 42 of Europe's largest agricultural areas can be found in Ukraine - 35.9 million hectares of which over 14 million hectares are occupied by traditional crops, but according to the Global Food Security Index (GFSI) in 2018, Ukraine is ranked only 63 rd among 113 countries. Nowadays, research on the creation and study of technologies for growing and using perennial crops is being conducted in the world: wheat, rye, sunflower, rice, sorghum, which can become an economic and environmental alternative in agriculture. The purpose of the study is to theoretically substantiate the agro-ecological prospects of growing and using perennial wheat, taking into account their ecological and biological characteristics, as an alternative to traditional grain crops in Ukraine. Material and methods. Common scientific methods are used: analysis, synthesis, induction and deduction, abstraction and generalization. Literary sources from the chosen field of research served as the material. Results. Perennial cereals, as an alternative to traditional cereals, have been widely studied throughout the world for a long time. The result of these studies is the creation of hybrids of perennial grain crops Kernza® and Owl. Potential for the use of perennial grain crops, both present and in the selection process, is not fully disclosed, but at this stage it is possible to clearly identify the directions of their use: obtaining organic products, through the use of soil potential, features of the root system of perennial grain crops, resistance to pathogens and pests, droughts and freezing temperatures; in the food industry for the production of bread, confectionery, flakes, pasta, beer, alcoholic drinks; in the medical industry for the manufacture of biologically active additives with high lutein content, as a carotenoid important in the prevention of the eye, heart, mammary glands diseases, strengthening the immune s","PeriodicalId":148937,"journal":{"name":"Cherkasy University Bulletin: Biological Sciences Series","volume":"38 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122747147","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Traumatic brain injuries (TBI) cause a variety of cognitive impairments, which consist in degradation of memory, attention, problems with the perception and understanding of information, a decrease in control and the adoption of impulsive decisions, and much more. A key motivation for exploring the capacity of visual working memory (VWM) is that it is a predictor of intelligence and correlates with the ability to suppress unwanted, obsessive thoughts and recollections. Purpose. The p urpose of the work was to determine the effectiveness of visual working memory on complex stimuli (VWMc) and to determine the neural networks and the corresponding brain structures that are involved during the testing of the VWMc in the brain of the military men of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who took part in the operations in the east of Ukraine and have TBI, later – military men with TBI. Methods. This study involved 16 male volunteers, right-handed, aged 18-21, without complaints of health - students of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (control group) and 17 male volunteers, right-handed, aged 27-43, military men with TBI - patients of the Institute for Occupational Health of the NAMS of Ukraine, SI , Kyiv . EEG studies, coherent analysis and analysis of brain dipoles of brain activity using the Loreta program during testing of VWMc. Results . Military with post-traumatic stress disorder have a high probability of development of diseases of the cardiac system. It is important to investigate the cardiovascular system reactions of supposedly healthy participants in combat operations to the cognitive load – fulfillment of complex Stroop test . Purpose. The aim of research was to estimate the effect of cognitive load during fulfillment of the combined Stroop test on the state of the cardiovascular system (by the indices of ECG and heart rate variability) for the participants of Joint Forces Operation (ATO). Methods. The study involved 13 participants of Joint Forces Operation (ATO). Stimuli (the word \"Green\" or \"Red\", \"Blue\" or \"Yellow\" written in relevant or irrelevant color) were exposed on the right or left from the center of the screen. In the case of congruence the word and its semantic meaning should press one button by the ipsilateral hand (\"yes\"), while in the case of mismatch – the other button by the contralateral one (\"no\"). There were used two tests. In Test 1 there were exposed 160 stimulus, while in the Test 2 – 400 stimulus. Test 1 was needed for veteran’s understanding the algorithm of the test. The latent periods of reaction (LP) and the number of errors were recorded. Results. As a result of the correlation analysis of the LP of reactions with measured cardiological parameters, those of them that had statistically significant correlations with LP of reactions, were selected and a factor model based on them was constructed. The obtained data indicate the high sensitivity of the integral index of ST-T (II) and its components (ST segment shift and T wave amplitude) to the change in the functional state of the subjects, reflecting the tension of the myocardium, and also confirm the special role of the left hemisphere in the formation of psycho emotional stress in execution of cognitive load. Originality. In this research was analyzed a wide range of cardiological parameters and connections of heart rate variability indices with the combined Stroop test parameters (by the original method), which allows to evaluate the interhemispheric interaction. The influence of the cognitive load on the myocardium functional state is demonstrated on the basis of factor model. The integral indicator ST-T allocated as the main cognitive stress marker. Conclusion. Completing tasks that require long-term attention with simultaneously involving two signaling systems and interhemispheric transmission of information, have the greatest impact on the functional state of the myocardium, namely – causing an increase in tension of the heart muscle. The ST-T interval analysis is used in medicine for the diagnosis of coronary heart disease. In the study of various indicators of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems, the question arose about the competition of different gases for binding to Fe 2+ h a em h a emoglobin. Purpose. Until this time, nobody considered the possibility of binding of СО 2 to iron of haemoglobin. For the first time, we have taken an attempt to consider this connection. Methods. Calculations were made using ZINDO / 1 and PM3 methods in the HyperChem program. Results . The issue of gas exchange with participation of haemoglobin is discussed. The potential curves of haem iron binding with CO, СО 2 and О 2 gases are calculated. The possibility of forming a complex for the haem model with carbon (IV) oxide is shown for the first time. The role of the upper occupied MO of iron-phosphorus and ligand in the formation of coordination bonds and charge transfer in the complex of haem with СО 2 is determined. The role of charge polarization in the haem model is considered comparing СО 2 with other gases. Conclusion . Our quantum-chemical calculations show that СО 2 can be coordinated with the iron ion in haemoglobin, although its binding energy is significantly less than that for the CO complex with haemoglobin and is about 34.5 kcal / mol.","PeriodicalId":148937,"journal":{"name":"Cherkasy University Bulletin: Biological Sciences Series","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129264516","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
