The control signal is a nonlinear continuous function of the filtered input and output, and of their derivatives. The proposed controller guarantees the ultimate boundedness of the error between the plant output and that of a reference model; the design procedure also allows the designer to arbitrarily prescribe the rate of convergence of the tracking error.","PeriodicalId":148356,"journal":{"name":"1986 25th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1986-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122411531","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They differ from simplex and reduced gradient methods by a systematic use of inner, or strictly admissible search directions. The purpose is to implement the idea that one step along a search direction pointing to the relative interior of the admissible set can spare many steps along its relative boundary. Finiteness of the algorithms is proved and some computational aspects are discussed.","PeriodicalId":148356,"journal":{"name":"1986 25th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1986-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122933730","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

After considering some applications of eigenstructure algorithms to spectral estimation and constrained filtering problems, the paper discusses a new approach to data adaptive eigenestimation. A new technique based on an adaptive implementation of the Q-R algorithm is presented. This algorithm offers a strategy for recursive estimation of the complete set of covariance matrix eigenvectors and eigenvalues, which is computationally efficient to implement.","PeriodicalId":148356,"journal":{"name":"1986 25th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1986-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122988057","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this, a distance formula is derived by utilizing two different images sensed from the different positions lying in the same line of sight of the camera. An iterative focusing method is also developed to effectively handle the defocusing problem. Further, a visual feedback scheme for robot motion is proposed by employing the 3-dimensional information obtained from the camera motions. In the proposed technique, it is found that computation of the coordinate relationship between hand and eye system is not necessary. To show the validities of the proposed algorithms, the PUMA 560 robot system with a newly designed hand-held camera, a robot controller including VAL controller and a vision system have been utilized and tested in real-time for grasping an arbitrarily positioned object in a 3-dimensional work volume.","PeriodicalId":148356,"journal":{"name":"1986 25th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1986-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122222931","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This kind of decomposition preserves the network structure and offers possibilities in developing reduced-order models and simplified direct stability analysis. Time scale separation is inherent in this decomposition. This paper investigates the use of slow and fast energy functions for the stability analysis of two-time-scale systems. We show rigorously the existence of a slow manifold and use this manifold for calculating slow energy in the system to any desired degree of accuracy. When the mode of instability is between areas (i.e., slow) it is shown that the slow energy accurately predicts the critical clearing time.","PeriodicalId":148356,"journal":{"name":"1986 25th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control","volume":"1996 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1986-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128208039","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
