The algorithm employs the same controller structure as the one that would be used if the parameters of the dominant part of the plant were known and a robust adaptive law for adjusting the controller parameters. Using essentially the same assumptions that are necessary to design a fixed controller based on the exact knowledge of the dominant part of the plant, we show that the proposed algorithm guarantees boundedness for all signals in the closed loop and \"small\" residual tracking errors for any bounded initial conditions. In the absence of plant uncertainties, the algorithm guarantees zero residual tracking errors.","PeriodicalId":148356,"journal":{"name":"1986 25th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1986-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115317040","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is an iterative approach which modifies the filter and model structure characteristics used in methods of system identification involving the filtered prediction error. An estimate of model uncertainty is obtained which is then used to predict closed-loop system performance with the new control if it were implemented. If predicted performance does not meet the specified performance the filters and/or model structure are modified to enhance model accuracy in the frequency range required. An analysis is presented along with an illustrative example.","PeriodicalId":148356,"journal":{"name":"1986 25th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control","volume":"81 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1986-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125236579","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many of these types of computations are computation intensive even for small systems. For large systems, there are no generally accepted algorithms for modal analysis. Such algorithms are still subjects of research. In this paper we consider one family of modal algorithms and discuss their implementations on a particular vector/parallel computer. Based on a digital signal Processing technique fundamentally different from that used in microprocessors, it applies to the design, monitoring, and control of dynamic systems with discrete (boolean) inputs and discrete outputs, such as are found in automated manufacturing systems, digital computer systems and certain classes of continuous processes. This methodology, which relies on state modeling and firmware implementation, fills a need in on-line diagnostics because of its unique advantages of design exhaustivity and speed. It is also useful for high-speed control tasks.","PeriodicalId":148356,"journal":{"name":"1986 25th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control","volume":"145 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1986-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116553880","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
