This theory has a reduced sign problem, is amenable to analytic evaluation and was successfully used to study the cold and dense regime of QCD for sufficiently heavy quarks. We show results from the evaluation of the effective theory for arbitrary $N_c$ up to $kappa^4$. The inclusion of gauge corrections is also investigated. We find that the onset transition to finite baryon number density steepens with growing $N_c$ even for $T neq 0$. This suggests that in the large $N_c$ limit the onset transition is first order up to the deconfinement transition. Beyond the onset, the pressure is shown to scale as $p sim N_c$ through three orders in the hopping expansion, which is characteristic for a phase termed quarkyonic matter in the literature.","PeriodicalId":147987,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 37th International Symposium on Lattice Field Theory — PoS(LATTICE2019)","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131105972","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We apply this method to 3d effective theories of Polyakov loops, which have been derived from 4d lattice Yang-Mills by means of resummed strong coupling expansions. In particular, the Polyakov loop susceptibility is computed as a power series in the effective couplings. A Pade analysis then provides the location of the phase transition in the effective theory, which can be mapped back to the parameters of 4d Yang-Mills. Our purely analytical results for the critical couplings $beta_c(N_tau)$ agree to better than $10%$ with those from Monte Carlo simulations. For the case of $SU(2)$, also the critical exponent $gamma$ is predicted accurately, while a first-order nature as for $SU(3)$ cannot be identified by a Pade analysis. The method can be generalized to include fermions and finite density.","PeriodicalId":147987,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 37th International Symposium on Lattice Field Theory — PoS(LATTICE2019)","volume":"624 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116211485","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Baryons and the effect of parity doubling in this temperature range have been analyzed previously by various other groups employing different setups. Here we construct suitable operators to investigate chiral and axial $U(1)_A$ symmetries in the baryon spectrum. Measurements for different volumes and quark-masses are done with two flavors of chirally symmetric domain-wall fermions at temperatures above the critical one. The possibility of emergent $SU(4)$ and $SU(2)_{CS}$ symmetries is discussed.","PeriodicalId":147987,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 37th International Symposium on Lattice Field Theory — PoS(LATTICE2019)","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115223990","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We have recently addressed the dependence of the nuclear critical end point as a function of the quark mass $am_q$, and separately as a function of the lattice gauge coupling $beta$ in the chiral limit. Here we proceed to determine the dependence of the nuclear transition on both, $am_q$ and $beta$, on isotropic lattices and attempt to pinpoint the critical end point for various $beta$ where the sign problem is still manageable.","PeriodicalId":147987,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 37th International Symposium on Lattice Field Theory — PoS(LATTICE2019)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114219311","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The calculations are carried out with the PACS10 gauge configurations generated by the PACS Collaboration with the stout-smeared $mathcal{O}(a)$ improved Wilson fermions and Iwasaki gauge action at $beta=1.82$ corresponding to the lattice spacing of 0.084 fm. For the renormalization, we use the RI/SMOM scheme, a variant of Rome-Southampton RI/MOM scheme with reduced systematic errors, as the intermediate scheme. We then evaluate our final results in the $overline{rm MS}$ scheme at a scale of 2 GeV, using the continuum perturbation theory for the matching scale of RI/SMOM and $overline{rm MS}$ schemes and running.","PeriodicalId":147987,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 37th International Symposium on Lattice Field Theory — PoS(LATTICE2019)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127857347","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We perform a continuum extrapolation of the vector-current correlator, and consider a linear combination of the Lorentz indices corresponding to a UV-finite spectral function. To extract the spectral function from the lattice correlators, an ill-posed inverse problem, we model the spectral function with a Pade ansatz. We further constrain our analysis by simultaneously fitting data with different momenta. We present results for a multi-momentum fit including the three smallest momenta available from our lattice analysis.","PeriodicalId":147987,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 37th International Symposium on Lattice Field Theory — PoS(LATTICE2019)","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125986550","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In our previous work on an $8^3times16$ lattice at $beta=5.7$ with the quark mass $m= 0.01$, we have found that the baryon number density has a clear plateau as a function of the chemical potential. In this study, we use a $16^3times32$ lattice to reduce finite volume effects and find that the plateau structure survives. Moreover, the number of quarks in the plateau region turns out to be 24, which is exactly the same as the one obtained previously on the $8^3times16$ lattice. We provide a simple interpretation of this number, which suggests that the Fermi sphere is starting to form.","PeriodicalId":147987,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 37th International Symposium on Lattice Field Theory — PoS(LATTICE2019)","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127230033","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a preparatory step for the fully non-perturbative calculation, we apply the strategy at 1-loop order in perturbation theory determining the renormalization constants of both the gluonic and the fermionic components of the energy-momentum tensor. Using shifted boundary conditions, the entropy density of QCD is directly related to the expectation value of the space-time components of the renormalized energy-momentum tensor. We then discuss its practical implementation by numerical simulations of QCD with 3 flavours of Wilson quarks for temperatures between 2.5 GeV and 80 GeV.","PeriodicalId":147987,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 37th International Symposium on Lattice Field Theory — PoS(LATTICE2019)","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124784239","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
