Both loops (inner and outer) allow a suitable control of the power flow. The controlled system is linearized and decoupled; based on the dq mathematical model the current control and the state feedback law is obtained. The control strategy allows the AC/DC/AC converter to increase its flexibility to process power by decoupling the active and reactive components in the full operating range. An integral control to robust the system and eliminate the tracking error is added. The proportional-integral controller of the inner loops offers global tracking of the system in real practices. By simulation and experimental results the proposed control approach is validated.","PeriodicalId":147489,"journal":{"name":"12th IEEE International Power Electronics Congress","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128150367","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The inverter produces seven-level PWM voltage waveforms using twelve transistors and a three-phase transformer for harmonic elimination offering the following advantages: flying capacitors with neutral clamped circuits are not required, a small number of switching devices is used and the PWM switching losses are minimal. The proposed control technique is implemented on an 8 - bit microcontroller, and was designed to operate all the transistors of the converter using only one carrier and modulating signals, offering a simple control solution. The circuit operation and the design of the control principle are discussed in this paper together with experimental results obtained with a 1 kW prototype.","PeriodicalId":147489,"journal":{"name":"12th IEEE International Power Electronics Congress","volume":"2016 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121443680","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, it is necessary to design new alternating methods to control easily the internal dynamics of the converter. This paper presents a new voltage balancing strategy for a flying capacitor multilevel converter in conjunction with a space vector modulation technique. The advantages of this strategy with respect to others control methods are, the equilibrated use of the switches in the converter, the independence from the modulation method and the easy implementation. The proposed strategy is based on the redundancy of switching states and it is designed to accomplish three objectives: a) ensure the demanded voltage level by the pulse width modulation strategy, b) balance the capacitor voltages, and c) ensure the equilibrated use of the converter switches. The performance of the proposed technique is validated by simulation and experimental results in a 5-level inverter.","PeriodicalId":147489,"journal":{"name":"12th IEEE International Power Electronics Congress","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122480518","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For proper power conditioning design fuel cell electrical characteristics as well as customer requirements must be taken into account. Therefore, in this paper, a practical design methodology for two-stage power conditioner architecture suited for using in stand-alone power generation systems with 120VAC output voltage (sinusoidal single-phase) and low input voltage (26VDC) is presented. Proposed power conditioner architecture, which consists of an active clamp full-bridge boost converter (ACFBC) for the DC-DC stage and a full-bridge sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) inverter for DC-AC stage is designed, simulated and implemented. In order to validate proposed power conditioner architecture, experimental results for 1kW power conditioner prototype are presented.","PeriodicalId":147489,"journal":{"name":"12th IEEE International Power Electronics Congress","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133544789","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The estimation technique is based on injection of Test Voltage Signals (TVSs). The TVSs generate stator current transients which are exploited in order to acquire the required rotor position information. Then, the obtained information is processed through a tracking observer to extract useful position signals. Following this strategy no extra hardware, especial current transducers or connections are needed in comparison with a standard servo drive with an encoder. The technique is effective at zero and very low stator frequencies of operation, where the back EMF is very low and model based sensorless techniques commonly fail. Experimental results at very low and zero stator frequency of operation verify the effectiveness of the investigated sensorless strategy.","PeriodicalId":147489,"journal":{"name":"12th IEEE International Power Electronics Congress","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116960525","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
