Broad sociological and systemic mechanisms continue to inflict trauma and reduce community healing by usurping access to curative cultural networks. This paper evaluates research showing that traditional therapies, although relevant to some demographics, are ineffectual or harmful when wrongfully applied to underrepresented groups. Diagnostic tools are similarly narrowly effective. Symptomatology should account for cultural differences, and therapy incorporating individual cultural beliefs should be more widely implemented. When personal spirituality and culture is encouraged throughout treatment protocols, individuals more successfully reach recovery. Practitioners are most helpful to this process as they work to personally understand their patients’ culture and spirituality.","PeriodicalId":147021,"journal":{"name":"Journal of European Psychology Students","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114800787","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Current treatment options are not effective in all patients. Hence, researchers have studied herbal options. It has emerged in research that saffron can be used for the treatment of MMD due to its anti-depressant properties. This literature review focussed on the treatment of MMD by comparing saffron to placebo and current antidepressants. Overall, research has shown that saffron reduces depression rating scores, but little is known about its safety and toxicity. Thus, this literature review concluded that there is inconsistent evidence to recommend saffron for the treatment of MMD. Further research is of high clinical need to resolve the growing burden of MMD.","PeriodicalId":147021,"journal":{"name":"Journal of European Psychology Students","volume":"269 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133711710","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The current study explored cross-cultural differences in the psychology of strikes through an adapted version of the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) model. Our model incorporates personal and social-level psychological processes that motivate strike participation and we explored how cultural values and normative nudges moderate these processes. French and American participants received social or moral nudge messages and indicated their intentions to participate in a hypothetical strike. We successfully replicated parts of the TPB model and found that culture and nudge type moderated the relationship between personal attitudes and strike intentions. Our findings highlight the multi-level motivation for and context-sensitive cultural influence on collective action.","PeriodicalId":147021,"journal":{"name":"Journal of European Psychology Students","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114693938","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Null findings can, however, bear important insights about the validity of theories and hypotheses. In fact, the tendency to publish mainly significant findings is considered a key reason for failures to replicate previous studies in various fields, including psychology. In this editorial, we discuss the relevance of non-significant results in psychological research, and provide a short overview of statistical methods that render these results more informative. Considering the circumstances of limited time and research resources that students often face, we close with recommendations for more efficient research designs.","PeriodicalId":147021,"journal":{"name":"Journal of European Psychology Students","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129284284","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Mental preparation is important in sport, as it can help athletes reach peak performance. Examining specific sport requirements is important for the better understanding of mental preparation, thus this study focused on identifying the processes that are important for Olympic-style weightlifting. The inductive analysis of the data showed 15 mental processes, which are separated into two general dimensions, namely: Mental Techniques and Mental Skills. Some important processes that arose concern the need for Distance and the distinction between Intrinsic Self-confidence and Extrinsic Self-confidence. Examining the identified processes offers important knowledge for the better application of mental skills training.","PeriodicalId":147021,"journal":{"name":"Journal of European Psychology Students","volume":"99 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117241569","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
