Data owners are poorly involved in handling their data for such environment when it deals with data policy. Normally, data access control policy consists of a resource and authorization descriptions which are assigned by the administrator. It is the responsibility of the administrator to set and specify the policy for application services. The policy details are massive and complex for administrator to handle where most of the times there will be cases of unreview services. This paper proposes a framework that allows data owners to provision policies for storing and managing their shared data with third parties. By adapting RBAC model and adding owner's interest on permissions for data operations and objects, the proposed framework will facilitate data access control whereby owners have the freedom to set their own data access policy.","PeriodicalId":146332,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE Conference on Open Systems (ICOS)","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122340108","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the case of accident prevention, the system broadcast information to other cars about the condition of the surroundings by giving a warning notification upon some event, such bumpy road, speed bump and sudden brake. The system uses an Android based smart phone as the main platform. It utilizes the phone's internal built-in sensors for the event detection and localization and employs Wi-Fi Direct for the fast and cheap inter-cars communication to other Android devices in the surrounding areas. In the case of accident handling, the system implements an automatic emergency request by sending an emergency related data to dedicated numbers when the car is involved in an accident. The overall system has been tested for above sample situation in a real car on the roads and it proved to be very responsive and readily déployable with no additional hardware. Acquired sensor data are displayed on a map in the receiving Android Smartphone. The communication system between cars can lead to useful applications that help promote safety. By incorporating the information from the system's peers, the peers can cooperate together to prepare for any unwanted incident.","PeriodicalId":146332,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE Conference on Open Systems (ICOS)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129471146","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main objects of interest in the activated sludge systems are floes and filamentous organisms. The proper settling of the sludge floes in the activated sludge wastewater treatment process is crucial to the normal functioning of the system. In this paper image processing techniques are used to segment and detect activated sludge floes in microscopic images of activated sludge. This can be helpful in the study of the morphology of floes and their quantification. In this paper, Otsu thresholding, k-means and fuzzy c-means segmentation techniques are used to segment and detect floes in microscopic images of activated sludge. The performance of the segmentation techniques is assessed for activated sludge images at different microscopic magnifications using global consistency error (GCE. Ground truth images are used to benchmark the accuracy of segmentation algorithms. Otsu thresholding method performed better segmentation in terms GCE. But the performance of segmentation deteriorates at higher magnifications. The quantification of floes also provides a means for assessing the segmentation performance of different algorithms. Otsu thresholding has better quantification performance as compared to fuzzy c-means and k-means, with some apparent exceptions caused by imperfect segmentation of images at 40 times magnification.","PeriodicalId":146332,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE Conference on Open Systems (ICOS)","volume":"82 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134272426","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

FPGAs based embedded systems can provide the equilibrium between many critical concepts like, performance, rapid time to market, and flexibility, so they have become the preferred source of computation in many critical embedded systems. The wide variety of needed tasks and new life facilities pushed towards highly reactive and multi-functional systems. This was the main reason that assists replacing the simple processing units with heterogeneous multi-processor units. The main advantage of using heterogeneous multi-processing units in field programmable gate array is to perform specific functions in almost real-time respond and the ability to reconfigure these units and decreasing the time required for re-mapping the application into the new architecture when the architecture changes. In the same time heterogeneity has its own problems also, like synchronization, communication between different computational units and also resources management. This paper will review a proposed heterogeneous multi-processor platform, the way to handle the synchronization between processors, the way in which these processors are communicate with each other or exchange information between them when needed and how a sequence of tasks can be scheduled to be processed.","PeriodicalId":146332,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE Conference on Open Systems (ICOS)","volume":"30 11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121554068","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Diagnosing the disease in the right time could lower the danger that it may cause. This paper presents an expert system (CardioOWL) that has the ability to diagnose any kind of coronary artery diseases. CardioOWL supplies the expert with the diagnosing strategies that could be used and suggests the drugs and/or other required operations to be taken. CardioOWL depends on ontology knowledge about the patient's symptoms to build the knowledge base and then it utilizes Semantic Web Rule Language (SWRL) to deduce the suitable medicine and the required operation for the patient. The system was tested by some general practitioners using several test cases. The system proves to have very good precession and recall.","PeriodicalId":146332,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE Conference on Open Systems (ICOS)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131772898","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The structural design of the FGP-DBMA is based on suspended plate antenna. The FGP-DBMA antenna features a 56 × 55 mm2 rectangular radiating element suspended over 90 × 90 mm2 ground plane. ShieldIt Super conductive textile features are used as the radiating element and ground plane while felt textile features are used as the dielectric substrate. The rectangular radiator patch is designed using slits for dual-band resonance over ISM band (2.4 GHz to 2.48 GHz) and HiperLAN/2 band (5.725 GHz to 5.875 GHz). The FGP-DBMA radiates unidirectional with a fully grounded plane to avoid coupling onto user's body. The FGP-DBMA shows efficiency over the range of 69.6 % to 75.6 % and gain over the range of 6.052 dB to 6.323 dB in the free space scenario. The evaluation of FGP-DBMA with bending effects shows no significant changes to the performance of the FGP-DBMA. This indicates that the curvature effect on the proposed FGP-DBMA for on-body performance, i.e. on human arm, does not affect the performance of the antenna.","PeriodicalId":146332,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE Conference on Open Systems (ICOS)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114969222","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Understanding readers' expectation opens up an opportunity for specific CMSs i.e. CMSs for a specific business domain. The development of specific CMSs includes information requirements that define (i) the information to publish and (ii) the organization of that information. Information organization defines the presentation order of information items based on their importance. This organization is necessary in order to avoid readers from information overload. In this paper we present an approach to information requirements engineering for specific CMSs. The approach consists of information requirements elicitation and prioritization techniques. The elicitation technique defines information items that shall be published. The prioritization technique defines the organization of information items.
