The control strategy, that the engine speed was controlled to follow the target speed, was put forward. Exact mathematical model of DCT is difficult to gain, thus fuzzy controller was adopted to control the engine throttle and oil pressure. After analysis of the shortcomings of traditional fuzzy control, improved fuzzy control method was proposed to improve the launch performance. The integral term is added as an offset to the system to accelerate the movement of the process towards set point and eliminate the residual steady-state error. Simulation results show that improved fuzzy control method can yield better launch quality. The simulation model can provide a useful analytical tool for further development of such gearboxes.","PeriodicalId":145608,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE International Conference on Mechatronics and Automation","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127014353","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Input IR and visible images are decomposed into a series of low frequency and high frequency subbands by using NSCT. The degree of membership to the background and the target for each pixel in the low frequency subband of the IR image is determined by using fuzzy logic. An adaptive weighted average is then taken as the fusion of low frequency subband coefficients while maximum absolution selection is performed for the fusion of high frequency subband coefficients. The fused image is obtained by taking inverse NSCT of the fused coefficients. Experimental results with real IR and visible images show that the proposed method effectively enhances infrared targets and preserves details of the visible image.","PeriodicalId":145608,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE International Conference on Mechatronics and Automation","volume":"211 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121868099","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Different from conventional methods, the proposed SA algorithm is quicker and much more effective. SA, also known as stochastic recursive algorithms, take many forms and have numerous applications. Integrated with mechanical kinematic Jacobian matrix, the SA algorithm is based on the strict and integrated illation process. During the illation process, the restrictive qualifications for this algorithm are also outlined. By the analysis of 3-PCR parallel mechanism, such a quick SA algorithm can find the singular points wherever the initial point starts to seek. The algorithm can be used for those mechanisms which satisfy the restrictive qualifications to seek out singular points near the initial working points in workspace quickly and effectively.","PeriodicalId":145608,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE International Conference on Mechatronics and Automation","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127682697","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Both the finite difference method (FDM) based on Reynolds equation and the finite volume method (FVM) based on N-S equations were used to calculate the two-dimension flow field. For FDM, the Newton iteration method for two-dimension Reynolds equation of thrust aerostatic bearings was deduced, the central difference method was used, the Chebyshev accelerated over-relaxation iterative method was introduced to improve the calculation efficiency; For FVM based on the Fluent software, the structured and partial refinement grids were used, the mixture model of laminar and turbulent models was built and the SIMPLE algorithm was used for solving. The calculation results of the two numerical methods were compared with the experiment ones. The results show FDM based Reynolds equation are not effective to calculate the pressure depression and recovery, but after the pressure recovery, the calculation results agree well with the experiment ones, which can satisfy the engineering requirement, it needs little calculation grids and has a high calculation efficiency. The FVM based on N-S equations is able to calculate the pressure change with a high calculation resolution, which has a low calculation efficiency, and can be used for further study on the characteristics of the flow field.","PeriodicalId":145608,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE International Conference on Mechatronics and Automation","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132698193","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper describes the steps to design various controllers for a rotary motion inverted pendulum which is operated by a rotary servo plant, SRV 02 Series. In this paper some classical and modern control techniques are analyzed to design the control systems. Firstly, the most popular Single Input Single Output (SISO) system, is applied including 2DOF Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) compensator design. Here the common Root Locus Method is described step by step to design the two compensators of PID controller. Designing the control system using 2DOF PID is quiet challenging task for the rotary inverted pendulum because of its highly nonlinear and open-loop unstable characteristics. Secondly, the paper describes the two Modern Control techniques that include Full State Feedback (FSF) and Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR). Here FSF and LQR control systems are tested both for the Upright and Swing-Up mode of the Pendulum. Finally, experimental and MATLAB based simulation results are described and compared based on the three control systems which are designed to control the Rotary Inverted Pendulum.","PeriodicalId":145608,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE International Conference on Mechatronics and Automation","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133599045","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Increasing demands for both accuracy and efficiency in cell manipulation highlight the need for automation process that integrates robotics and optical tweezers technologies. A clear understanding of the forces exerted on cells, i.e., trapping and viscous drag forces, is essential to enable automated manipulation using optical tweezers. In this paper, we propose a method to characterize the forces exerted on the live cell moved by optical trap, where the cell is bound to a micro polystyrene bead. Experiment of the cell falling to the focus of the optical trap is performed to show that the proposed force calibration method exhibit better accuracy than the traditional ray-optic numerical method based on the transparent-bead model. Further, automated transportation of the yeast cell is performed to demonstrate the effectiveness in applying the proposed force characterization approach to automated cell manipulation.","PeriodicalId":145608,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE International Conference on Mechatronics and Automation","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131785927","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The results from taking 7012C bearing as an example show that, in high-speed condition inner ring centrifugal displacement decreases ball centrifugal force and increases ball gyroscopic moment, reduces the difference between inner and outer contact angles, increases contact deformation and contact stress, decrease spin-roll ratio between ball and inner raceway. Furthermore, the inner ring centrifugal displacement not only compensates angular contact ball bearing axial and angular stiffness softening due to centrifugal force but also greatly increases its radial, axial and angular stiffness. Therefore, in order to make the dynamics analysis of angular contact ball bearing more accurate and closer to the factual condition, the effect of inner ring centrifugal displacement should be considered.","PeriodicalId":145608,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE International Conference on Mechatronics and Automation","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132224657","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
