Our aim is to increment the current systems personalization capabilities for student´s in different scenarios making use of learning objects ontology. This approach is being developed in an e-learning environment: the AdaptWeb system. The main features of the recommendations aspects for student´s profile are described and we use some examples to discuss and illustrate how to provide this personalization.","PeriodicalId":145328,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Intelligent Networking and Collaborative Systems","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126797628","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Standard discovery registries, such as UDDI and ebXML, have their own inherent limitations as they only describe the functionality aspect of each WS and not how it relates to others. Capturing the relationships between WSs as they interact with each other can be useful in many ways. In this paper, we present a novel model that captures such relationships using social networks. We describe how these WSs social networks can be initiated and how they evolve. We also discuss the types of associations (edges) that can exist among WSs (nodes). Traversing a WS social network makes it possible to identify a community of homogeneous WSs that are functionally similar. It can also enable us to use the model as a recommender system in case we need to replace a faulty WS, find a partner WS, or an add-on WS that may enrich the current business scenario.","PeriodicalId":145328,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Intelligent Networking and Collaborative Systems","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130038258","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recent advances in software and hardware technologies have allowed the use of more and more advanced applications and services. It also brought computing capabilities to mobile devices such as smartphones and laptops. This has led to an extensive use of computers to collaborate in some unexpected manners. To support this collaboration, numerous models have been designed and tried. Among these models, some particularly caught our attention: models based on the description of tasks, role-based models and collaboration’s context models. Simultaneously major advances were made in the young pervasive computing domain. We propose a role-based model, which aims at modelling the cooperation between devices to support pervasive collaborative work. Leading to the emergence of the Pervasive Computing Supported Collaborative Work (PCSCW).","PeriodicalId":145328,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Intelligent Networking and Collaborative Systems","volume":"379 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133979756","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Even in a live streaming environment, however, each end user independently connects to the server by unicast communication. It is thus essential to consider how to provide such services to many users while maintaining efficiency and scalability. To explore the potential of introducing multicast-like transmission mechanisms, we analyze the similarity in streamed data packets that are simultaneously transmitted to several end hosts in real-time video/audio services. The results show a significant level of similarity among the packets and, therefore, that multicast-like mechanisms could decrease streaming traffic.","PeriodicalId":145328,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Intelligent Networking and Collaborative Systems","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116145451","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Sometimes,unexpected events occurring on runtime force this pre-defined distribution to be changed. In such situations, a re-definition of the group structure for adjusting the activity to the actual context is needed. This paper proposes a flexible solution for supporting teachers in the group organization and adaptation profiting from the intrinsic constraints defined by a CLFPs codified in IMS Learning Design. A prototype of a web-based tool for the TAPPS and Jigsaw CLFPs and the preliminary results of a controlled user study are also presented as a first step towards flexible solutions in this context.","PeriodicalId":145328,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Intelligent Networking and Collaborative Systems","volume":"325 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122293327","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to be able to use a variety of sentences freely, they have to make an effort to memorize the sentences. It can be said that e-learning has a merit that the learner can study over and over again, anywhere and anytime, as long as there is a personal computer with them. Then, the author tried to construct an e-learning system for supporting the self-study of memorizing English sentences. Besides, the author developed a system that we could examine the results of the learning using Microsoft Office Excel®.","PeriodicalId":145328,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Intelligent Networking and Collaborative Systems","volume":"71 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127631857","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The resulting information can be used to build structural prestige models for the creators of the resources. This paper reports preliminary explorations on relational models that could be used to develop metrics of quality and prestige for learning object authors. Concretely, Social Network Analysis tools are used to analyze the overall community structure of a dataset obtained from the MERLOT repository. Networks extracted from the indirect reference between users through references in personal collections and reviews are examined with regards to the position of relevant community members.","PeriodicalId":145328,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Intelligent Networking and Collaborative Systems","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116978817","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
